This is you, remember? Here lemme highlight the relevant part.
false interpretation

"As accurate as it'd get" That's the relevant bit.
3. Making the space marine BP into the pistol from Halo isn't any more of a "false interpretation" than the SMG model.
I don't know what you mean by calling me a Ward Apologist. Should I be sorry for liking his rules and some of his fluff? I don't see why you're constantly comparing a bolt pistol to a pistol from Halo. Yes, I get that things need to be adapted to fit Game Mechanics. It's why the Power Axe in Space Marine is only a Tier 2 weapon and doesn't one-hit everything it hits which, by the fluff, it should. But it's accurate enough. And that's what's important. The First Space Marine game showed a Bolt Pistol that was wrong in every mechanical aspect. Every Bolt round, when fired at a dinky, unarmoured mortal, enters the chest and explodes right after it goes in. The victim is left with very little spine, ribs, lungs or anything, left. This isn't the case in either Space Marine game, but dammit the current Space Marine gets as close as it can while still having the game be a challenge. The first game had it firing rounds wildly, that unarmoured cultists ate up without a worry. That's wrong.
In the same way North Koreans are raised to follow Juche and believe in the Dear Leader.
It's not like that. The Tau seem to have a fairly normal society, except you are cannot choose a different Caste as you are actually evolved to be best suited for that role(or atleast better than others) If you raise to a high enough position you can join a Council of advisors. They don't worship the Ethereals.
This is you, remember? Here lemme highlight the relevant part.
false interpretation
1. Coming from a Ward apologist, is hilarious. 2. 3. They are the only racially Tau unit that does fairly well in close-combat (a good skill to have when showing dominance over subordinates) and they exude the often talked about pheromone mind-control that is strong enough to cause surrounding Tau to basically go mad if an Ethereal is killed in combat. They may not worship the Ethereals, but they certainly put them in a position of power comparable to that of the clergy during the Middle Ages.
Alright gentlemen. How about this. A Warhammer 40k-based vehicle combat game? I mean, you could have a nice over-reaching story, an open world, and Ork Trukks.
A Wh40k conversion of World of Tanks pehaps?

The Ethereals are extremely well respected because they combine the roles of priesthood and royalty. None of other Tau are good at close combat, they are about the same as a average Human, because the Tau view Close Combat as barbaric. There are some Tau that are good at close combat - for Example Aun'Va's Honour Guard. If wouldn't be very inspiring if the Ethereal was just sitting behind everyone on the Battlefield. The Codex states that the Tau act different when their Ethereal dies because they are conditioned to dread an Ethereals Death above all things for fear of going back to how things were before they arrived. No where states they have mind control or pheremones. Evidance against Pheremones: - Xenology makes several 'mistakes' - One being the Ethereal having feet, when there is nothing to suggest why - or there being any reason why - Female Ethereals would have feet with toes when Fire caste, Air caste Males, and Male ethereals all have hooves. Xenology also suggests the organ looks just like something the Inquisitor saw earlier, implying that it was the same as the Qo'orl pheromone organ he dissected earlier in the book. Also, the Inquisitor was not the most sane person really. - Deathwatch: Rites of Battle has a captured Ethereal who does not have the Diamond organ mentioned in Xenology. - None of the Ethereal models support the existance of the diamond organ. Aun'shi and the old Etheral model do have some sort of round object in the slit in their forehead, but it is more likely that this is just decoration, as Aun'Va's guard on page 43 has something similar, and there are several other peices of art in the codex of non-Ethereal Tau with similar things, and just as many of Ethereals without them. - Farsight does not support this. His Ethereal died, and he found the dawn blade. It was not as simple as his Ethereal died, so he abandoned the Empire. Lexicanum also states fought in the Damocles Crusade after his Ethereal died, and then after that decided to abandon the Empire. - Black library writers make up what they think fits their story most. - The line in the Codex is speculation by the Imperium. They do not believe the Tau would cooperate through choice, and think there must be some reason why. The other reason for this, is that without some sort of hint of a secret, the Tau would be a quite bland army to play. Same thing with Vespid mind control hints. - The actual line in the Codex is " It is speculated that they exert some kind of pheromone based or latent psychic control over the other casters". This suggests that there is little evidence, otherwise they would know if it was Pheromones or Psychic control instead of suggesting it could be either one. - The codex says the Tau who became the Fire Caste did not join straight away, and it took them about a year to join the rest of the Tau in forming an Empire.

Plus, i'm not sure if everybody would think it would be fun to drive in a land raider shooting orks for around 10 hours of a campaign
In the same way North Koreans are raised to follow Juche and believe in the Dear Leader.
Maybe North Korean leaders use pheromones too? V:v:V
Maybe North Korean leaders use pheromones too? V:v:V
The Ethereals do not use pheromones, or any sort of mind control.
The Ethereals do not use pheromones, or any sort of mind control.
That's what the Ethereals want you to think.
That's what the Ethereals want you to thing.
What, what if the Imperium wants me to think that that's what the Tau want me to think?
What, what if the Imperium wants me to think that that's what the Tau want me to think?
But what if the Tau want us to think what the Imperium thinks that we want to think?
What, what if the Imperium wants me to think that that's what the Tau want me to think?
Funnily enough the Uplifting Primer doesn't mention much in the way of pheromones, preferring instead to refer to the Ethereals as "arrogant fools [who] slink around in their dresses."
Are there any actual models that use any other magazine than the standard "sickle"?
I gave that bitch a banana-clip Bitches love banana-clips Orkz don't have banana-clips :D
But what if the Tau want us to think what the Imperium thinks that we want to think?
Now I know! It's all a ploy from Tzeentch!
Now I know! It's all a ploy from Tzeentch!
And Tzeentch is a ploy by GW to get you to give them money.
And Tzeentch is a ploy by GW to get you to give them money.
What if that's just a ploy from the New World Order which is supposed to distract us from their plans, and help them finance their shadowy activities?????? :tinfoil:
Heh, was Googling random Warhammer stuff and this popped up. Made me giggle.

I wanna see some real Dark Millenium gameplay before I make a decision on getting it. If it's less tactics-heavy and a bit more like Spess Mehreen I'll probably try it, but you guys apparently like the tactics so there might be less people playing that way.
I really hope they constantly update DMO, which would included fixings things when a new Codex is released if it changes anything. I hope it doesn't butcher fluff too much either - haven't seen any actual problems so far.

It's too cartoony, and it just looks out of place in a universe as grim as Warhammer 40k. Hopefully they've changed things in the last two years.

The art style and animations look okay to me, considering it's a MMO and my guess is it'll be similar to SWTOR in terms of combat (I think it'll be hotkey based with some skill stuff like aiming dodging and similar spices, although this is a supposition from watching the trailers). Where do you see the cartoony stuff? And how would you like it better?

Dark Millenium is played in a TPS way on most classes, a cover system is implemented and the combat is entirely twitch based. In the terms of style, I'd rather have it in the way of Space Marine. It's currently way too clean.
Weak against shields/aggro armor, strong against unprotected flesh, kills on one shot to the top of the head regardless of health.
Nobody cares about Halo in this thread? We are talking about Warhammer. If you want to talk about Halo go to the Halo thread.
I can't find any "full details". Anyone?
Imagine the same engine as Surpreme Commander.
Imagine the same engine as Surpreme Commander.
Mmm, all the terrible pathfinding.
Mmm, all the terrible pathfinding.
Well, it's not like any of the DoW games has good pathfinding.
