If I'm right about this, the Dark Eldar are a Pirate race and sometimes get hired for mercenaries.
Pretty much. Except nobody ever goes up to a Dark Eldar and says;
"Can we hire you? We have slaves to trade"
They beg and cry like bitches as the Dark Eldar kick the door down, the walls melt and the barbed blade is halfway to their throat.
Then the Dark Eldar dick them over massively.
There's a story in the DE Codex about a Haemonculi or two that offer their services to the Tau Empire for their help in fighting off the Tyranids. All they ask for is 100 Tau Fire Warriors. Next thing the Tau know, one of their forts is lost to an army of Grotesque, Blue Skinned muscle-bound freaks.
I always wonder what a story from the point of view of a Krieger would be like, but then I figured there wouldn't be much more than "sat in a trench, got told to charge and got blown up."

"Nearly got shelled earlier. My arms gone numb. Doc said it'd be fine in time for the charge at 0800. Back on duty for the night."
++++++++
"Claimed their Comms facility. Numb Arm got better. It got shot off in the charge, I didn't notice. Doc said he'd have a word with the Engineseer about a Prosthetic. Krolscki got my Shift tonight, I need R and R. Company Commander coming tomorrow."
I watch my friend play all the time, I was thinking about getting into it (When I get the money, ha), I was probably going to go Eldar.
Also, is it true Chaos Space Marines are broken as fuck?

Dawn of War 1 or 2?
Dawn of War 1 or 2?
Maybe he's talking about table top?
Maybe he's talking about table top?
Yeah I was talking about the tabletop game (People were doing that in here, so I assumed this was for the tabletop game as well.
I do play DoW2:Retribution though, and Chaos Space is a pain to beat in that game.
A dreadnought is roughly 110-150 points, depending on the weapons. It also takes up an elite slot, meaning that, if fielded alongside your terminators, you cannot use any more elite units. Dreadnoughts can use a range of melee weapons, but they can also use assault cannons, heavy bolters, plasma cannons, autocannons, lascannons and heavy flamers. Versatile and powerful, but very sluggish. Fluff-wise, a Dreadnought is a half-dead veteran marine hardwired into a mechsuit, allowing him to fight after his "death".
Plasma guns are very powerful against heavily armored units, such as other Space Marines. Their effectiveness against swarm armies, however, is limited, as, unlike the flamer, the weapon can only strike one enemy unit at a time and they often overkill their target. However, against powered-armored units, they're practically a necessity. Their firepower, however, comes at a cost, as they have a chance of exploding and killing the user. If the user survives the hit, the gun can still be used.
Officers can also take plasma pistols, which pack similar firepower but at a lowered range and can only be fired once in close quarters. It does, however, allow the user to fire and charge an enemy unit during the same turn.
Melta guns are very close ranged assault weapons. They pack even more firepower than a Plasma gun without the danger, but they have a very limited range, and cannot be rapid fired. They are used for destroying vehicles and super-heavy infantry. Basically like a microwave mixed with a volcano in terms of function and damage.
Flamers share the same limited range as a meltagun and a plasma pistol, but they fire much weaker projectiles that are roughly on par with a standard bolter round. It's very effective against large groups of lightly armored units, such as Imperial Guardsmen, Orks or Kroot Carnivores, as it does damage to every unit covered by a cone-shaped template. If you manage to cover five enemy units with the cone, for example, it would be the same as five marines hitting their targets with their bolters. Unlike other weapons, template weapons always hit the units they attack.

If you mostly play games set in small urban settings, Rhinos APCs lack purpose. However, in large games with little cover, they become very useful, especially against primarily ranged focused armies, like the Tau Empire and the Imperial Guard. Rhinos allow you to get your Marine squads up close without taking casualties, allowing them to engage the enemy in close quarters where they may not be as effective.
Tau Fire warriors are dangerous in a firefight, but are completely useless in a brawl. Although a Tactical Squad can typically outshoot a Fire Warrior squad, in melee it is extremely likely the Marines will defeat the Tau without even taking a single loss.
In an opposite fashion, Rhinos can also help you reposition your squads away from enemy melee units, such as Eldar Howling Banshees, Ork Sluggas, or most Tyranids.
i got the codex now and it says if i take one of those techpriests as hq (thats the heroes i guess) i can have dreadnoughts as heavy support so i could take terminators with them too then
what does fluffwise mean?
oh the plasma gun sounds like a risky bet then since it can easily kill user too as it can kill enemy, what does the str and ap mean?
melta guns sounds like a cool gun too now but i dont really like the model for it but maybe i should pick some of those too then if they are good versus stronger units
i had a game at the store today and they dont have a lot of terrain but i borrowed army with apcs and it was a bit hard but also fun because the person i played with was really helpful and i didnt win but got beaten badly but was fun anyway
thanks for the helpful writing, how would you make dreadnought if you would build one? all the models seem really cool so i dont really know how to make it beyond what looks cool but i guess i also want to be able to fight others without losing

I'd say they're far from broken. Their diversity lies in the fact that every unit they have can be devoted to an individual god. This allows them to increase their Toughness (making them a lot harder to kill), giving the unit a 5+ save against everything, increasing their Initiative (how fast they hit in combat) or improving their attacks by 1, meaning every unit has 3 attacks on the charge.
Correct application of all of this could be rather broken, but it's the current fad to give everything a Mark of Nurgle, drop it on an objective and laugh as everyone needs 5 or 6s to unroot the squad.
It makes me sad, as I love nurgle for his fluff, and fielding an army of Plague Marines makes me a cheesy bastard.
Before you go out and buy lots more models, i'd suggest you just get a Codex and Rule book first if you actually are planning in playing the game. You might buy some things and then realise you don't really want them in your army or they won't help so much. With a Codex you can see all the stats of the different units and see what does what and then decide what you think would be best to buy.
Are you using Games Workshop paints?
Skull White is a terrible colour to paint with really, it's difficult to get right most of the time. Not really a good choice to have your paint scheme mainly white especially if you are new.
yeah i bought codex today and it is great fun to read, all models and stuff is bit confusing as i dont know whats good and whats bad but the only thing i dont like is the flying things the space marines have and bikers but bikers i dont like mostly because of bikes, is it possible to make it fun like say using dinosaurs as mount instead of bike but use as count as? is this against the rules or would such a thing even be possible?
i dont use games workshop paints i use some acrylic paints my sister has to paint paintings it works good i think but i need to thin paints more i think still
[editline]13th January 2012[/editline]
If you are planning on using that in game, you will need to put a Bolt Pistol somewhere on the model. Each model has to have the weapon they are equiped with somewhere on them - Space Marine Sergeants are equipped with a Bolt Pistol and Chainsword. I believe there is one in a Holster, although not sure if that part is still included.
Would this be considered TableTop Standard (Average) painting? It's alot better than what i can do. Any idea if it used washes? Never tried them before.
oh i have placed one of those at his right leg i think i took pictures showing that but maybe not
Get a squad of Devastators, and build a Heavy Bolter, Multi Melta, Plasma Cannon and Rocket Launcher. Devastators as a squad are very overpriced in point terms, but they are the only way to get Heavy Weapons for use in Tactical Squads, as a 10 man squad can take the following:
Heavy Bolter, Multi Melta and Rocket Launcher are free
Plasma Cannon is 5pts
Lascannon is 35pts
Next on the list for me would either be a Rhino, Razorback or Land Raider.
Also, Librarium Online is a great place to find some advice and learn new tactics about what to do and what not to do. I always check it now when I write an army list.

[sp]And people never prejudice you based on your English, unlike a fair few people on some sections and threads on Facepunch.[/sp]
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
Not at all, where I live 1 in 20 people can paint up to a standard close to that, and even fewer (mostly GW Staff) can paint a model that looks as good, if not better than that.
missile launchers look like a really good weapon and i think they look cool it looks like i can give devastators alot of missile launchers but maybe i should get a devastator kit and build like you say?
thanks for the link it is almost like this site but not as good looking but hopefully it is as helpful as this forum, thanks too for not getting mad at my bad english skills i am good at reading it but writing i still have problem with grammar

IT BEGINS!
(By the Emperor, this book costed me 33 dollars. Oh, the horror.)
God damn it. I want to start painting, but my hands are incredibly shaky and the paint comes out terrible. Plus I hack together most of my models making almost all of them one-of-a-kind, so if I fuck up it'll go even worse than normal.
Damn these piano-player's fingers!

You can find PDF files of some books online.
You can find PDF files of some books online.
I have IG and BBB PDF files already, but I prefer (the air) actual copies.
i looked at games workshop homesite and i noticed that you get enough stuff on a devastator squad to make plenty of cool guns but i was thinking of doing something like this
make 1 missile launcher
make 1 heavy bolter
take two missile launcher from tactical squads i have and replace with one multi melta and one heavy bolter
i think this gives me strong ability to punch at both infantry heavy army and at heavily armored army?
What would you do if you found out an inquisitor was a gene-stealer?
run. very far.
Maybe he's talking about table top?
Sorry, it never occured to me TT could have that apply to it. Because I'm dumb. Really, really dumb. :v:
I have IG and BBB PDF files already, but I prefer (the air) actual copies.
I haven't bought a codex since I got Codex Dark Angels back in 2007.
Which reminds me, it's that time of year again where I paint-strip my entire army and start over again since my standards rose again.
Tau Pirannah or Crisis Suit?
Getting a new model. I already did one Crisis Suit but that was the Hello Kitty one I'm giving to my girl friend so I need one for my own little 'army' and I've never had a pirannah before so they are neat too.
run. very far.
In the world of 40k this is not an option.
Is he doing this voice on purpose or is he retarded?
What would you do if you found out an inquisitor was a gene-stealer?
You find another Inquisitor. And hint. Very. Subtly. That the other guy. Is heretic.
Inquisitor wars are best wars.

Tipped me off that he opened the plastic with a pen knife. That's just dangerous, man.

one tau paranhiu out of this box
Tipped me off that he opened the plastic with a pen knife. That's just dangerous, man.
I use a penknife, or even more frequently a hobby knife.
I use a penknife, or even more frequently a hobby knife.
I open my 40k stuff with a combat knife.
The guy who did the Tau unboxing is probably the same guy who did all the "thin your paint" creations on the wiki.
What would you do if you found out an inquisitor was a gene-stealer?
I'm assuming you mean a Patriarch. All of his staff and indeed, many of his or her friends are also carrying the Genestealer contagion. I have them all purged and hope to god they didn't send a signal.
