So far you've bought a terminator chaplain, two assault terminator squads, one space marine squad and now you're planning on getting 16 genestealers and a hive tyrant?

But yeah, i would highly suggest buying cheaper models and assembling/painting them first. By the time you've painted/assembled a lot of them, your more expensive and valuable models like the terminators will already look better, trust me, i bought a box of chaos terminators and they look like shit, but i eventually got better and got some grey knight terminators and they actually look pretty okay even if i say so myself.

If you have 500 points worth of Gaunts, 500 points of Marines won't be able to kill them fast enough, as anything they get that can kill you fast enough, is outside of the 500 points point range.
I've started working on a D&D based w40k thing, and I cant quite decide on a racial trait for the orkz and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? :v: I'm not quite sure what part of the lore to base it on.
I need to make my marines more mobile, but I am stuck on how to best do so. Do I: a). Put half of the squad (with Sergent and flamer/melta) in a razorback to get those guys close while the other half sits back with a heavy weapon. or b). Take the whole squad and shove them in a METAL BAWKS.
Anyone here is playing Eldar? I'm trying to come up with some cheesy/annoying army to play against a friend of mine who plays exclusively IG, thought Vassal. From what I understand, a squad of Warp Spiders can: 1) Move 12 inches, since they're Jump Infantry 2) Fire 20+ shots, since Death Spinners are Assault 2 3) Move 6 inches and Assault, dealing damage in the process 4) Move 3D6 inches back, since Warp Spider Exarch gives Hit 'n' Run in a single turn. So, theoretically if I, for example, stand behind a building (I like urban maps) I can hit his squads twice and then retreat away in the same turn without ever being hit, right? Correct me someone. EDIT: Alternatively suggest an annoying vs IG army build of any race.
As far as I remember, they will be hit back in close combat, because they can't leave via hit and run until the combat has been resolved, which means that you get to hit him and he gets to hit back before you can take the initiative test to run away. Just remember that leaving combat is also dangerous, as you can be shot by the rest of his army in the next turn if your unit is not in combat, so you have to be very careful with it. If you are smart, you can try to stay locked in combat for two rounds, and then leave combat in the end of your enemys turn. That means you get to shoot and assault the same or another unit right after you have left combat, so you can't be shot at before you enter combat again!
Thaks for reminding me Hoboharry. Need to count my miniatures and compile a list of how big my army is. My guess is big but lacking the the department of rhinos. At least my LGS has no problem with unpainted minis, they understand I'm rather busy during the week so I dont paint much.

You should also build an army list (plan what you want in your army and add up all the points) before you go out and buy and make everything.
why not use the preexisting wh40k roleplay ruleset? it's pmuch similiar to dnd
Actually, Rogue Trades (and Friends) is nothing like D&D. I personally think that 40k roleplay has much faster and more dynamic combat than D&D.

For a 500 point list, you should use a Tyranid Prime as your HQ; It's cheap, and leaves you plenty of points to murder people with hormagaunts.
why not use the preexisting wh40k roleplay ruleset? it's pmuch similiar to dnd
nah, I'd much rather make my own, My friends arent really experienced and if I can make the rules myself I can suit it to their needs and further the story. :v:

Yet for some reason, I'm decent at painting. And the fact that I kinda got carried away by buying a bunch of crap.
I really need to make all the Tau i've had on sprues for the last 6-7 years (Which is all of them) the reason i never made them is because i don't want them to be ordinary looking Tau, but i don't know what i can do to make them different. I was thinking prehaps i could add pouches, weapon slings and make their helmets like this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/KLm3H.jpg[/t] Or maybe: [t]http://i.imgur.com/qi1l1.jpg[/t]
Just greenstuff them into Chaos.
Just greenstuff them into Chaos.
The whole idea of renegade Tau is stupid. Farsight does not count as it's not clear on what happened.

I think i did a pretty good job (It's Lord General Castor)
