How do you propose that they cast the spell again?
I'm saying they could've been traitor Guardsmen from the Horus Heresy that were on Prospero when Ahriman cast the rubric spell.

Except there were no guardsmen attached to the legion AND what would contain the guardsmen?
The rubric marines have no bodies. They are minds locked into the power armour.

are you sure? I thought every chaos legion had some Guardsmen fighting for them. Also carapace armour covers everything their uniform doesn't, and they did have carapace armour back then.
Thousand sons may or may not have traitor guardsmen working with them, but they'd just be normal traitor guardsmen. Not rubric-guards or something.
My original point was Rubric-guards would be awesome.

Yeah but I do not see how it could come to be, seeing as there were no guardsmen when the rubric spell was cast.
Current strat in retribution online.
Play IG, get three gaurd squads. Cap points, build walls and turrets, kill everything with the support commander and his shield-on-demand. Upgrade commander and squads, become unkillable. Reach tier two, get a chimera, make blitzkrieg support strat and start capping behind lines while constantly ading armor to it. Build MG squads, put 'em in bunkers, go WW1 on their ass. Upgrade to laser when they try to counter with vehicles.
And if all else fails, Leman Russ spam.

Only lost one time out of 10 with this :v:
In that regard, me and some good and propa' Orkeh feller, are "working" on Chaos IG Codex of sorts.
Taking place of Stormtroopers, we have a squad of Chaos Guardsmen who somehow gotten their hands on Space Marine Armour. Being unable to wear it raw, they requested assistance of Dark Mechanicus, who modified both armour and men, so that they will be compatible. The troops created in this way, are unable to leave their suits, have support of augmented machine spirit, and are directly interlinked with the suit, to the point where they may feel pain when the suit is damaged. In cruel hilarity of chaos, the Dark Mechanicus have not mentioned a few things. The daemonic machine spirit continuously self-improves and takes over the suit's functions. Additionally, the suit drains both the physical health and the soul of it's user. This means that over time, the suit becomes little more than a machine than entombs a dying or rotting bosy. Some suits even search for new owners, whose soul they shall consume.
Grimdark.
Oh, and their gimmick is ALL DA SPEHS MAHREEN upgrades/variation available.

if you mean the imperial guard didn't exist then you're wrong, but if you're saying that The Thousand sons had no Traitor guardsmen then I get what you're saying.

sounds like a mixture of rubric marines, necrons and dreadnoughts

While Technically true, there was the Imperial Army at the time, but either way, it couldn't really happen anyway, even if it did, the only Traitor Army troops it would target, would be ones from Prospero.

Thousand Sons had the Prospero Spireguard serving with them before and after the Horus Heresy. They were not affected buy the Rubric because the rubric was cast to prevent flesh change in the Thousand Sons. Just clarifying this.
Whether they would be considered Imperial guard or not, I dont know, but they are non-astartes humans that served as prospero's army.
Rubric Guardsmen would be quite awesome but think about Slaanehii Guardsmen.
Pink Imperial Armour, [del]Chaos Guitars[/del] Sonic Blasters and possibly Pink Ogryns with Blastermaster's.

EDIT: Is there anywhere I can find a Chaos army guide? Something with tips and tricks and general Chaos strategy/tactics? The more words the better.
1d4chan has one
Suprised to see a Space Marine made from shoulderpads and a few other peices looks pretty good.

Games Workshop just hired a hitman for you.
Chaos Armies, seconds try (intended for use versus IG army):
-HQ-
Points 130:
1 Daemon Prince of Nurgle
-Troops-
Points 200:
10 Chaos Marines
1 Chaos Rhino
Points 130:
10 Lesser Demons
Points 130:
10 Lesser Demons
-Fast Attack-
Points 204:
1 Biker Champion
2 Chaos Bikers
Points 204:
1 Biker Champion
2 Chaos Bikers
Total: 998 points
Strategy:
Bikers flank the army from each side, using their Mark of Nurgle and +3 Cover save to survive the laser pointer barrages. With their Meltas they melt all vehicles they meet.
Chaos Marines jump into the Rhino, and either jump out somewhere int he middle, bombarding Guardsmen with Heavy Bolter and Bolters (also equipped with one Flamer for close encounters), or just drive around firing Twin-Linked Bolter and Heavy Bolter.
Daemon Prince locks annoying shit in melee, takes the beating and generally draws fire away from Bikers and Rhino.
When my Reserves finally pop up, I drop both Lesser Demon squads next to the bikers, on their respective flanks and try to tear everything up in melee.
How does that sound?
so we're getting an entirely new game mode (?) called dreadnaught assault on the 24th YAY Relic!

"The Dreadnought DLC also includes three new multiplayer maps Desolation, Dome Mechanicus and Chem Refinery, as well as new achievements / trophies and has a suggested cost of 800 Microsoft Points / US$9.99
BOO RELIC
oh god hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng
too bad it'll be :10bux:
I'm expecting it'll be a juggernaut type game play, not sure if it'll be worth the money as awesome as it looks
So will it be like a Juggernaught kind of thing, where one player's the dread and everyone else has to try and take it down? Or will it be two teams fighting, with a few dreads on either side?
I WILL BUY THE GAME JUST FOR THE DREADNOUGHTS
seriously i fucken love dreadnoughts
Wow, really, the DLC costs 10$?
If only relic realized that if it were free, people would actually start playing Space Marine again.
Looks like that Dreadnought DLC might be worth buying. It's a shame it doesn't come with any extra armour peices. They did concept art for the older marks of armour but they aren't ingame.

Assault cannons are actually not that accurate.
