Why only get half tattoed on you, why not the hole thing?
Hehe sorry, Imgur probably had some upload restriction that I didn't notice, I have fixed it now. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
I just noticed it's not simetrical and it's missing one eye, THE OCD, IT BURNS
It's not supposed to be symmetrical:
The Aquila is a two headed eagle, and represents the entire Imperium of Mankind. During the times before the Horus Heresy, the two headed eagle was blind-folded on one side, and the other had eyes. The backward facing blinded side represented looking back into the past, while the forward facing sighted eagle was looking into the future. After the Heresy, and the Imperial Cult took hold, the Aquila's means changed to represent the two headed Empire of the Imperium and the Adeptus Mechanicus.
[editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
Someone might confuse the two. However if you don't give a shit about that go for it, it's too obscure and doesn't look "weird" as a tatoo so you won't look like a complete nerd by having it either.
I guess that you are right, but without huge swastikas everywhere, it should be somewhat easy to explain that I'm not some crazy neo-nazi :V [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] Besides having a personal meaning (always remember your nerd roots), here is a short explanation: So the Administratum is the back bone of the Imperium, while the Adeptus Mechanicus gives the ability to travel the universe. The Custodes and Arbites are its claws, and the Astronomica and Astra Telepathica enables it to see and communicate.
Nazies weren't the only people that used eagles.
Nazies weren't the only people that used eagles.
The Eagle seems to pretty much be the most popular national bird around. At least 10 countries have some form of eagle as the aforementioned.
I have been thinking for 2 years about scarifying myself with a stylised chaos star. if halfway through the uni it still seems like a good idea I'm gon get it.
Nazies weren't the only people that used eagles.
I know, but some people actually think that.
So I have been thinking about getting the Imperial Aquila tatooed on my right shoulder for quite some time now. I'm not small and skinny so I think I can pull it off, and the friends of mine I have talked to so far have been pretty supportive. Before taking the decision I of course had to ask the smart and knowledgable minds of Facepunch. The tatoo will look like this: So yes for being a cool nerd, or no for the risk of looking like a total right wing nutcase?
Go for it but make sure you are absolutely sure you want it before you get it and make up some good excuses to hide your powerlevel when someone asks.
I was drafting up some army ideas from the Black Templars codex, and well, look at this. Emperors Champion and AACNMTO: 140 (S6, 3 attacks, WS6, every model gets re-rolls for every close combat attack) 130- Marshall with Adamantine Mantle, Power Sword (Immune to instant death, will be a cheap priority target, ) Command Squad:167 points 2 meltas 1 Chapter Banner 3 CCW Furious Charge (Every squad near the banner gets counter attack) Dreadnought: 105 points (Something to divert attention from the Crusader mobs) 259 points: Crusader Squad ranged 10 initiates 5 neophytes 1 Lascannon Plasma gun One Power fist (can knock out a tank at range with the lascannon, can hold its own in a melee and dreadnoughts can be dealt with thanks to the Power Fist) 202 points: Crusader Squad 10 initiates 2 Neophytes One Power fist (Ties up enemy squads, dishes out 36 attacks on the charge, and the EC is joined to it) 157 points: Assault Squad 6 Men One power fist 2 Plasma pistols (Can deep strike next to a tank and blow it up, and then have a go at a Terminator squad with the PP's) And thats just 1002 points. Fuck the Codex Astartes, the Omega Lords are going crusading.
There is another way to look at it. We know that nothing can survive in the warp unless it is using some sort of technology, or is infused with the power of chaos. As Draigo is clearly not corrupt, and certainly isn't carrying around a Geller Field generator, it can't be either of those reasons. But, the warp has not set form - it constantly changes and can shape itself to match the vision of what someone thinks it will look like or what they want to see - for example, Astropaths. As a Grey Knight is made to fight chaos and deamons, this is what they want to do. This means that it is possible that Draigo is not actually fighting Daemons and going round carving names into them, he just thinks he is, and is being tricked by one of the Chaos Gods. He gets to do what he wants, and it doesn't have any effect on anything of importance. He has not actually done anything to damage the God's realms, they are all just a figment of his imagination.
This is Matt Ward were talking about.
The Eagle seems to pretty much be the most popular national bird around. At least 10 countries have some form of eagle as the aforementioned.
The United States' bird / symbol was going to be the noble and majestic turkey For some reason we changed to the eagle
Eisenhorn is infinitely superior to Ravenor in my opinion, Ravenor spread its focus too wide, on too many characters. Eisenhorn is just Eisenhorn.
I liked Eisenhorn way, way more.
The United States' bird / symbol was going to be the noble and majestic turkey For some reason we changed to the eagle
I guess Ben Franklin figured that the turkey represented us better than the eagle. Noble and Majestic versus gobble gobble... I can see his reasoning.
Now I'm tempted to mark myself with a Tzeentch tattoo... Although slaanesh would probably fit my life better the way I drink alcohol :V
Hey guys I'm going to learn w40k table top this weekend and the shop owner says he will give 25% off to new guys to start an army. I'm going with IG.

That's the beauty of the Guard, its so versatile and flexible, it can adapt to any situation. Also, that shop owner sounds amazing.

Just got SPESS MAHRINE on gamersgate, downloading now. Add me!
Melta Mech Inf Vets = pretty much the only really viable army nowadays.
You can take like, up to 3 squadrons of Leman Russ tanks. Melta Vets can suck it.
Hey Guys I used to play Marines when I first started 40k (Ultramarines) and since switched to Guardsmen. I want to start my Marine army back up but I have no idea what Chapter to do. I would prefer a Shooty army. I like Dark Angels but they're codex is outdated. Can anybody suggest a good Chapter?
Hey guys I'm going to learn w40k table top this weekend and the shop owner says he will give 25% off to new guys to start an army. I'm going with IG.
Infantry guard is still pretty viable, but only if you can stand painting at least 100 models...
I see alfabusa lurking this thread show yourself
Melta Mech Inf Vets = pretty much the only really viable army nowadays.
Not true, leman russes are always quite viable in an IG army aswell.
Which should I take for mauling infantry: Predator or vindicator?
Dakkapred for light infantry, vindicator for heavy infantry.
If orks are like sentient fungi would they taste good if eaten? Would they taste like mushrooms or seaweed?
Help guys, I'm drowning in grey knights! [t]http://1d4chan.org/images/thumb/6/62/Draigo_codex2.jpg/429px-Draigo_codex2.jpg[/t] -friend playing tau and dark angels suddenly announces that he's starting a new army, grey knights with draigo (draigo's apparently coming from buypainted.com) -Introduced another friend to 40k over this past year, he just started a grey knights army, with draigo. -grey knights are the season's favourite at the local gaming club. What I want to know is what Imperial guard units are best to counter GK, I think that my demolisher cannon and battle cannons are enough but according to the second friend GK librarians can pop tanks easily. Is there a real "counter-build" to GK with guard? here's what I have at the moment:
leman russ demolisher with swappable melta and lascannon leman russ x 2 with swappable bolters and lascannon Valkyrie (not completed so armament unknown as of yet, I don't think I'll be able to make the missiles swappable so I'll go with missile pods) chimera with standard loadout 2x sentinels with swappable weapons, usually lascannons heavy weapon squad with 3x lascannons 5x guardmen squads with flamers, vox. storm trooper squad ratlings that I never run command blob (the old metal command squad) with the addition of the regimental advisors and 2x sargeants (bodyguards) tech priest enginseer with 2x servitors (multi melta and servo arm)
I'm planning to get veterans (gonna be some nice catachan death world vets since they're cool.) This'll likely either be 500 point games or 1000 point ones by the way.
If orks are like sentient fungi would they taste good if eaten? Would they taste like mushrooms or seaweed?
It's how the Death Guard got that healthy green colour, like Broccoli.
