So I've been thinking about getting the dread dlc. Is it worth the ridiculous $10?

use steam trading and tf2outpost, you can easily get it with your bill's hat if you don't care about tf2 :V
If orks are like sentient fungi would they taste good if eaten? Would they taste like mushrooms or seaweed?
Dats what eatin' squigs be for, and grots, at a stretch.
Sadly, my local store for 40k stuff is closing. On a good note, though, all the 40k stuff is 28% off - I'm tempted to buy Grey Knights and shit even though I don't play them, just because it's such a good discount.

No. MP is badly broken as it is and so are dreads. If they added it for exterminatus it would make sense, or even a completely over the top "dread rampage" mode with three times the enemies, they'd probably have 1:1 sales with the core product.

Reading this every time makes me nervous. In not too long I am going to open my own and I don't want to fail like the rest..
Research is very important, no point setting up a shop somewhere where theres either going to be no local demand, or somewhere thats a pain to get to if it has surrounding demand.
I've heard people mentioning how they can get models for cheaper than GW, what is this heresy

Independent Retailers often sell GW products at around 10-20% off. IIRC, even with shipping, Dark Sphere sells stuff at a considerable discount.
There's also eBay, Amazon, and the like.
Yeah, established stores get pretty big discounts (though it irks me that in their own store its still full price)

Well, they said the reason they had to close down is because the rent of where they were at was so incredibly high. So, remember that rent is a factor.

Just set up somewhere with alot of foot traffic and easy to get to and you should be fine
I've been doing location research for many months now, including finding out basically everything else. It's a lot of effort but in the end all the information will be extremely helpful. Been taking some small business courses and got some licensing and stuff sorted out. Also contacted many retailers about sales. I'm doing my research, guys. I'm not just jumping in slapping money and emails around wildly.

Bit more to it than that, but he's done/doing his research, and hobby stores are a niche thing, so even eith a lot of foot traffic (which makes the rent even higher usually) high foot traffic isn't a reliable indicator.
A model shop near me a few years ago had to close down cause of increasing rent too, and that one had been open for 88 fuckinkg years
Honestly, you'll probably do better if you sell comics as well.
My local store sells comics and does MTG and stuff that. They are now one of the most popular stores in southern california.

I'm planning on setting up a range of casual board games and puzzle games. Getting both mother and son in the store. :v:
What the fuck.
What. The. Fuck.
I just came back from a game at my local GW where my opponent brought up just 6 Crisis Suits and 2 Tau Commanders. It was doubles, but the other half of the board wasn't doing anything important anyway. We had 1000 points each.
Prepare yourselves.
The guy claimed the Tau Commander(s) had 2+ invulnerable saves which they could fucking re-roll.
One of them had 6 freaking wounds. Both of them had toughness 5 and in an assault the other had toughness 7 somehow.

On top of that, the one with 6 wounds had some sort of "ionic cannon" with 2 strength 9/10 large blast pieplate shots. I let him say all this stuff to me and I didn't counter it like my team mate who bitched literally the entire duration of the game.
Yeah, needless to say I got slaughtered.

Are you sure he didnt just make this shit up, 2+ invul save on a tau commander sounds REALLY off, and as for the ionic cannon, and none of the Battlesuit weapons are S9 or blast templates, the only one with a blast template is the Hammerhead Railgun, and only the Railgun (solid shot) has a strength of above 8. And 6 wounds sounds off as well. Plus the most wounds anyone has is Farsight who has 4 wounds, and no battlesuit equipment or any equipment that gives an extra 2 wounds.

Yeah, he probably cheated. 2+ invul on a commander?
Yeah, the only invuln any tau unit can get is a 4+ from a shield drone being present.
Just looked in the codex, a "ionic cannon"'s stats dont exist anywhere
So, sorry to say gamerman, you got punk'd, and not only did you get punk'd, you let yourself get punk'd
Yeah, why the fuck did you not call him on 2 s9/10 pieplates?
Looking at IG dex, they don't even have that overpowered of a weapon
Hell, even a Daemon Prince only has 4 fucking wounds.
Daemon Princes are in serious need of updating though. At least a 2+ save and better invuln. Bog-standard Daemon troops have the same Invuln dammit.

Nope, all I know is that he was using some Apocalypse rules.
I suspected he was cheating, but Im not one for arguing the entire duration of a game that I typically have just once a week so I didn't challenge him.
Considering Apoc games are usually meant to be 3k+ points, i'd say he's a dirty cheating scumbag in either case
.
Help guys, I'm drowning in grey knights!
[t]http://1d4chan.org/images/thumb/6/62/Draigo_codex2.jpg/429px-Draigo_codex2.jpg[/t]
-friend playing tau and dark angels suddenly announces that he's starting a new army, grey knights with draigo (draigo's apparently coming from buypainted.com)
-Introduced another friend to 40k over this past year, he just started a grey knights army, with draigo.
-grey knights are the season's favourite at the local gaming club.
What I want to know is what Imperial guard units are best to counter GK, I think that my demolisher cannon and battle cannons are enough but according to the second friend GK librarians can pop tanks easily.
Is there a real "counter-build" to GK with guard?
here's what I have at the moment:
I'm planning to get veterans (gonna be some nice catachan death world vets since they're cool.)
This'll likely either be 500 point games or 1000 point ones by the way.
If you want to get cute, give a squad power weapons and attach that guy that gives them furious charge.
However the best way is just disregard gay-knights, capture points and tarpit the fuck out of their mehrines. Cap points win games.

You are ALLOWED TO ASK HIM TO SHOW YOU THE RULES IN THE CODEX if they don't have the codex there then don't play with them/tell the GW manager.
Cheating fucks aren't exactly a big deal
Man, the end of Dawn of War 2/beginning of Chaos Rising really got me into the story.

Dawn of War 2 really had the best story of the both DoW games.
