I've yet to finish the campaign, never got really into it. Does it get better at some point?
Is Cyrus extremely underrated? I feel like I'm the only person who mains him. Everyone else I see uses Davian Thule and Thaddeus.
Yeah, he probably cheated. 2+ invul on a commander?
Did he glue Storm Shields to his battlesuits?
What the fuck. What. The. Fuck. I just came back from a game at my local GW where my opponent brought up just 6 Crisis Suits and 2 Tau Commanders. It was doubles, but the other half of the board wasn't doing anything important anyway. We had 1000 points each. Prepare yourselves. The guy claimed the Tau Commander(s) had 2+ invulnerable saves which they could fucking re-roll. One of them had 6 freaking wounds. Both of them had toughness 5 and in an assault the other had toughness 7 somehow. On top of that, the one with 6 wounds had some sort of "ionic cannon" with 2 strength 9/10 large blast pieplate shots. I let him say all this stuff to me and I didn't counter it like my team mate who bitched literally the entire duration of the game. Yeah, needless to say I got slaughtered.
He lied, simple as. [editline]28th January 2012[/editline]
Is Cyrus extremely underrated? After the halfway mark in leveling he can solo maps with ease.

They do not have Toughness 5 or 7, and there is no "Ionic Cannon" You lost because he was cheating.
Cyrus is broken beyond belief. After the halfway mark in leveling he can solo maps with ease.
A sniper rifle I'm assuming? Or any weapon in particular?
There is one purple/pink shotgun that a Custodes used to use that he can get that ignores all armor, but in general it's all about the snipes. Just max out ballistic and either health or power and watch hilarity ensue.
Am i the only one that didn't like and never used Cyrus?
Man, the end of Dawn of War 2/beginning of Chaos Rising really got me into the story.
I loved the end of DoW II. When the poison was injected, i headed to the Evac point, and we got the message from Martellus. Thunderhawk down. I sat back in my chair at that point, Hormagaunts swarmed towards me. I watched them, the marines opened fire. They were fighting, still. In the Emperors name the Hive Mind would curse these dozen and a half marines' names long after they'd gone. And dammit I was their commander! I pulled myself forwards and began to slaughter them. And suddenly. Gabriel. Fucking. Angelos. [editline]28th January 2012[/editline]
Am i the only one that didn't like and never used Cyrus?
I just couldn't use him, he was a bit too Micro for my liking. But I can see how he'd easily become broken.
Am i the only one that didn't like and never used Cyrus?
I personally like Martellus/Thaddeus and Vanilla Ice better, but discounting the others is folly. Both Cyrus and Avitus are literally point and click easy mode after ballistic has been maxed, and with the purple Sniper rifle and the Neverending Hail of Devastation/Destruction/Obliteration for Avitus, both of them can one shot tanks and fexes, and Cyrus can stealth cap points on defense missions with literal impunity.

[editline]28th January 2012[/editline] Most games tend to get better as it goes on, DoW2 is no exception.
I usually never used Cyrus, i preferred absolutely crushing xeno scumbags with Davian Thule. My setup was usually just Force Commander 'Bloodhacke' :v:, Tarkus, he's fucking awesome, he's good in battle and has a cool background story and overall has a good voice, the guy took down a damn tomb spyder with a single, suicidal grenade attack. Davian Thule same goes for this guy as for Tarkus, sweet background story and awesome voice (plus his assault cannon/power fists tend to rip through shit like paper) and last Avitus or Thaddeus, you know, Avitus tends to have way too many anger problems and overall is just an asshole, i only used him because he and his squad owned when it came to shooting down infantry squads and such, i used Thaddeus because hey, who doesn't like Assault Terminators? [editline]28th January 2012[/editline]
I personally like Martellus and Vanilla Ice better, but discounting the others is folly.
Am i the only one that didn't like and never used Cyrus?
I prefer to use him with a grenade launcher or a really good sniper rifle. Mainly because, whenever I play DoW II, it's co-op with a friend. The friend plays Davian Thule and the commander (in retribution he uses Diomedes and The Ancient.) So I'm usually more on the support side (I used Cyrus and Jonah throughout most of Chaos Rising) while he plays all the melee guys.
I usually never used Cyrus, i preferred absolutely crushing xeno scumbags with Davian Thule.
My friend wanted to give you a highfive for the comment on Davian Thule, but he broke his monitor doing so.
Did anyone ever use Jonah in Chaos Rising?
My friend wanted to give you a highfive for the comment on Davian Thule, but he broke his monitor doing so.
Haha, really? :v:
Haha, really? :v:
Yes, that friend would be me.
Did anyone ever use Jonah in Chaos Rising?
Used him on my first (failed) playthrough. He's quite fun, but i prefer using somebody else.
Did anyone ever use Jonah in Chaos Rising?
In combination with Cyrus, while a friend uses another two units, they're a pretty good pair.
He and Cyrus went all-but unused for me. I just can't Micro that well.
Co-op is the best way to play. Though each player is limited to 2 units, it requires a good bit of cooperation and it's really fun. [editline]28th January 2012[/editline]
Haha, really? :v:
He really digs Davian Thule. You should add us and maybe we can play Last Stand some time.
He really digs Davian Thule. You should add us and maybe we can play Last Stand some time.
Aight, sweet. [editline]28th January 2012[/editline] I wish Relic would stop adding DLC army skins to DoW2 and instead make a free Tau DLC pack. That might boost up sales like never before, seriously.
In DoWII/CR i always went with FC/Tarkus/Avitus/Thaddeus and in Ret i usually only use one or two heroes and the rest as Honor Guards.
In DoWII/CR i always went with FC/Tarkus/Avitus/Thaddeus and in Ret i usually only use one or two heroes and the rest as Honor Guards.
Cyrus was not worth taking as a hero in Retribution. I'd rather go with assault terminators.
roflmao Cyrus has a power that lets him shoot again IMMEDIATELY after killing an enemy until he stops killing, and his best gun does almost 300 damage and ignores armor. He is definitely worth taking.
To the hobby shop guy: you should sell not only 40k, but Dungeons and Dragons, Magic, and other board games too. In fact, instead of a hobby shop, open a "traditional games" store. The /tg/ store.
UltraMarines movie is on YouTube.
UltraMarines movie is on YouTube.
I saw it on youtube a week after it came out. Parts of the movie were well made, but most of it was pretty terrible. Also, it completely disregarded fluff in many places, which was disappointing.
I skipped Chaos Rising and went straight to playing Retribution, because it's still fairly expensive and I know roughly what happens in the Campaign anyway. Started Retribution playing as the IG. Got to love how pompous the Lord General is. Also Lord Commissar for Space Badass of the year.
Chaos Rising is good fun, you missed out.
Agreed, it fixes up the issues the Original campaign had. Namely, about a dozen maps, going from end to end for a boss battle.
