Agreed, it fixes up the issues the Original campaign had. Namely, about a dozen maps, going from end to end for a boss battle.
Exactly how I feel as well.
I saw it on youtube a week after it came out. Parts of the movie were well made, but most of it was pretty terrible. Also, it completely disregarded fluff in many places, which was disappointing.
Particularly that Chaplains Recreation of the Bridge of Khazadum.
Which DoWII Xpack should I buy first? Retribution or Chaos Rising? I heard many good things about both, and I really like the thought of being able to play the IG again, but I'm rather certain I'd miss out on a lot of cool gameplay if I just played Retribution.
Next time Games Workshop needs to not do a space marine movie. Also these

Retribution is great because you can play as the other factions in singleplayer as well as the Space Marines. However, story-wise, Chaos Rising comes after the original Dawn of War II (though apparently it's not canon.) It's still worth it. If you plan to buy both eventually, buy Chaos Rising first.
Chaos Rising is Canon? The only thing left unclear is the true [sp]traitor[/sp] Retribution reveals it to be [sp]Avitus. But I maintain that it's Thaddeus. Damn kids.[/sp]
Playing them in order is always best. [editline]29th January 2012[/editline]
In my opinion, Chaos Rising first. [sp]Avitus is the traitor, and vanilla Ice and Tarkus and Thaddeus had to go do penance and Diabideez was not killed, and so he can mangle his lines in retribution as is tradition, and Martellus is innocent. [/sp]
Dow2 C:R is canon, and Pulse and Noun have already stated that on the official forums, and Lydell stated it on the relic forums.
Ah, I was told otherwise. Thanks for clearing that up! During my C:R playthrough, I managed to go throughout the game [sp]completely uncorrupted, so Martellus was the traitor. Having thought that was the canon ending, I was extremely confused when Martellus was alive and well in the beginning of Retribution. [/sp]
[sp]Considering I put my foot in Diabideez ass rather than trying to talk to him as he was a giant jerkface, that's pretty much everyone's reaction. The "pure" ending didn't happen, and since you can get corruption by failing to do things (rescuing the scouts, saving the spire, closing the rift, etc) even if you don't become corrupt, that's the ending they took. Technically the pure ending in vanilla didn't happen either, as the Hive Lord Alpha was back rather unroflstomped in Retribution.[/sp]
amx40 I like more each day. Even in tier 7 matches it can serve as an impressive distraction wedging itself into enemy tanks while everyone fires on you so your team can fire on them
amx40 I like more each day. Even in tier 7 matches it can serve as an impressive distraction wedging itself into enemy tanks while everyone fires on you so your team can fire on them
I think you got the wrong thread. :v:
nah. Talking about the new IG fighteur corps MBT

They have. They allready have a leman russ
They have. They allready have a leman russ
Tier 10 Superheavies are best non-premium tanks.

Damn kids.[/sp]
How is it canon? None of the different endings are canon, except for the 'good' one. [editline]29th January 2012[/editline] But not even the good/pure ending was canon, seeing as [sp]The Force Commander and his squad are sent out to be agents of the emperor's will elsewhere[/sp].
DoW III: revenge of vanilla ice
I can't wait for DoW III. And the MMO. Damn you Hoboharry for informing of all this! Now I actually have things to be excited for.
I don't even fucking play Tabletop, but I love WH40K with all my heart. Mostly the fluff.
i wonder what an space marine version of this would look like even though its not really possible..
10 techpriests jump from a box to put the armor on.
I want 40k: total war with titans and shit
Is Relic going to be at PAX? Because if they are I so hope that they reveal something about Dawn of war 3 ( Probably not and it's just gonna be at E3)
I want 40k: total war with titans and shit
A mix of Supreme commander, Company of Heroes, Total war and Dawn of War would be best.
A mix of Supreme commander, Company of Heroes, Total war and Dawn of War would be best.
That's basically what Relic has in mind for Dawn of War III.
That's basically what Relic has in mind for Dawn of War III.
My loins are sopping with anticipation. Also, another good idea for a game: X-com style game where you play as the PDF against a small attack by Orks/Tyranids/Chaos/Canon. At the game start you get a choice of which type of world you want to start on (hive world, forge world, chapter recruitment world, all that jazz). Doing well on the field gets you access to more and more units, from recruits with shitty pistols, to regiments of Imperial Guards, to Imperial Assassins and Space Marines themselves, with everything in-between.
Fuck that, Relic, forget DoWIII, the 40K univers is just begging to have a Battle Fleet Gothic game done ala homeworld.
When you play as the redshirts for the redshirts you know you are going to lose.
Fuck that, Relic, forget DoWIII, the 40K univers is just begging to have a Battle Fleet Gothic game done ala homeworld.
Something like Empire at War with both Space and Ground battles would be awesome.
