I like dropping Flayed Ones straight into the unfinished enemy base.
That's just cruel. They chew through buildings like through butter.
Really? I may pick it up than, but I have to buy what I assume as expansions? (Dark Crusade/Soulstorm)? Dawn of War 2 is the one everyone plays, yeah? I can play at IG or Tau in Multiplayer as well if I want, right?
For DOW 1, the expansions are stand-alone, so you dont have to buy all 4 of them in order to play the game as everything. For single player (campaign and you versus bots in skirmish) you get every race, even if you buy one stand alone and nothing else. however in multiplayer, you'll only be able to play as the races of the expansions you own, for instance if you only have dark crusade, you can only play necrons/tau vs other people. In DOW 2, retribution is a special standalone, in the fact that you won't be able to interact/play with people who own chaos rising/vanilla. in retribution, you can play as everything (tau isnt an actual race, they only have a commander in the last stand) in vanilla dow 2, you can play as eldar/ork/tyranid/space, if you have CR, you can only play as chaos, if you have both you can play as all of the above. you need retribution to play as IG.
I tried to lose against an Eldar bot on Easy as Necrons I failed horribly I hate how my Warriors just completely annihilate any number of Guardians, then the Banshees come and they annihilate those, too. How do I do this
As a Necron you only need 3 units, Warriors, Lord and Flayed Ones. Ranged, Support and Melee respectively. [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline]
In Dawn of War are you able to play exclusively as the IG or Tau if you wanted? I want to play an RTS but everything I see looks mind numbingly Spess Mahreen centric.
In DoW 1, you've got (almost) every race and you can play with all of them, and Space Marines aren't even the OP race. If you're looking for multiplayer, I suggest DoW:Retribution, you can play as Chaos, Space Marines, Tyranids, Eldar and (i think) IG. It's not quite your classic RTS but it's still quite awesome. I wish there was a close-to-codex mod for Retribution.
Dark Crusade + Firestorm over Kronus = Holy shiit.
I take it one can't install Dark Crusade mods over Soulstorm?
Thats what you get for buying a shitty product (Soulstorm)
I take it one can't install Dark Crusade mods over Soulstorm?
Unless I'm mistaken FoK is being replaced by Firestorm over Kaurava anyway, which is for SS.
I take it one can't install Dark Crusade mods over Soulstorm?
Ultimate Apocalypse is a great SS mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod
Unless I'm mistaken FoK is being replaced by Firestorm over Kaurava anyway, which is for SS.
Not really, FoK will be ported to SS in about 2-3 versions but it's going to be long time until that. [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline]
Dark Crusade + Firestorm over Kronus = Holy shiit.
Best thing since sliced bread.
As a Necron you only need 3 units, Warriors, Lord and Flayed Ones. Ranged, Support and Melee respectively.
I may have done something wrong, but in the DC campaign, this setup was pretty much useless to me once Chaos started spamming vehicles, which happened in the first three minutes of the first battle. Then come obliterator squads which can survive a monolith exclusively firing at them.
Obliterators are kind of made to fight Monoliths, at that point you might need to step up your game and start building Heavy Destroyers or Immortals.
Obliterators are kind of made to fight Monoliths, at that point you might need to step up your game and start building Heavy Destroyers or Immortals.
I really dun goofed up that one campaign attempt, by that point the chaos army even destroyed Heavy Destroyers before I could've turned it into offense on my part.
Best thing since sliced bread.
Best thing since tabletop.
I like dropping Flayed Ones straight into the unfinished enemy base.
That's practically cheating, really. Flayed Ones are so resistant and they have so much health that even two squads of 8 can finish off a space marine base.
Best thing since tabletop.
I just wish Dark Crusade didn't lag so much when I've got more than 4 squads on screen. It's kind of funny how apparently my GeForce 250 GTS can apparently manage Crysis 2 on mid-high settings but not Dark Crusade.

So much back stabbing and trickery and 40k goodness. Even Tzeentch was proud of those days
Would someone mind linking me to the Imperial guard Codex? There are apparently a few editions of it.
Just finished assembling my warriors, going to basecoat chaos black with a buddy (Sir Spicy Buns) once he assembles his cadians. [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] Oh look
Best thing since sliced bread.
The campaign is unstable, but pretty fun. It keeps crashing on the tau stronghold assault, which is, unfortunately, my favorite mission.
Would someone mind linking me to the Imperial guard Codex? There are apparently a few editions of it.
I'm not going to link to it, as you really should purchase it: a hard copy is vastly superior to a .PDF. Also it is legal and legit. I'd recommend EBay, you're looking for "imperial guard codex 5th edition" or something similar. Of course, if you want to try before you buy, PDFs are availible from the usual sources, but seriously, buy a hard copy.
The campaign is unstable, but pretty fun. It keeps crashing on the tau stronghold assault, which is, unfortunately, my favorite mission.
What campaign? FoK disables it.
What campaign? FoK disables it.
neato, i managed to break the mod to have a campaign
Just a note. I forgot to paint the bolts on the shoulder trim black. So they are now. But yea. Tzeentch Champion with Deathscreamer and wings. The Scourged Warband.
What campaign? FoK disables it.
Why would you disable the best part of the game? Also, the guy who gets his ass kicked as Necrons, what difficulty are you playing on? In addition, my Dark Crusade experience was with IG. Beside "FUCK TAU WITH RUSTY RAZORBLADE BAYONETS" (those fucking strongholds, man!), I never run into any problems.
Why would you disable the best part of the game?
Because it gets broken, because of all the new units.
Why would you disable the best part of the game?
Because a lot of things in the campaign aren't done yet, since FOK completely redoes the entire game.
Because it gets broken, because of all the new units.
Meh, I was having a lot of fun with FOK campaign but then I did the Necron Stronghold and the mission failed instantly because the FOK Force Commander evidently has a different ID to the Vanilla one, so the game thought he was dead everytime the mission started.
Because it gets broken, because of all the new units.
I've encountered a few strange bugs and annoying crashes, but it's mostly playable. The stronghold missions have a high tendency to crash though, to the point the tau stronghold is impossible.
To my knowledge, everything works in FOK campaign besides the strongholds.
To my knowledge, everything works in FOK campaign besides the strongholds.
Again, what the fuck is a FoK Campaign? I have latest version of FoK installed, 3.6 RC 4530 and there's no 'Campaign' button in the main menu at all.
