They're the least grimdark race of all. Rumor mill thinks that Chaos is going to try and start corrupting Tau. Maybe they will be more grimdark though...
Unlikely, due to the relative warp immunity of Tau. I'd bet that they are going to be expanding on Farsight and how Ethereals aren't the 'ideal leaders' for Tau, if they want more grimdark.
I mean, one of the most loyal generals gets commanded to war, the Ethereal supporting his troops' morale outside the immediate Tau space dies and suddenly he turns renegade? Sounds rather fishy. Although, he did find Dawn Blade at around same time, so it could be fluffed as Chaos influence.
Either way, if they extend on either Farsight or Chaos influence, we'd probably see more melee-oriented units since Farsight believes close combat to be a vital part of warfare. Chaos would have something like Khornate XV-8s with flamers and Dawn Blade-derivatives I guess?

Oh god it's a great unclean one!
I'm going to give MP retribution a try, I'll probably get raped but fuck it.

You do realise that Ethereals use what is essentially mind control to keep the entire tau race in line don't you?

It's just Pheromones, really. Particularly strong ones, sure, but it's not too outstanding or farfetched.

It's from Xenology as far as I know, so I don't put 100% certainty on that, but yeah, I know that tidbit. It's a fair one.

I got raped in the butte

I haven't read Xenology, but i thought it didn't actually say that. I think it more implied that the Eldar took the Pheremones from the Q'orl and put them in the Ethereal or something.
Build a ton of basilisks and shell the entire map
You're only allowed 3 though, and they take the vehicle cap that I usually use for the more offensive vehicles like the Russ and Baneblade. After all that, I'm usually left with only enough for one Basilisk.
So long as the target is quite a distance away and in front of them, they rape face.
Sweet, I just bought Warhammer 40k: Space Marine from Greenmangaming for $12. Easily worth it. Figured I could share that with people in here in case somebody is interested.

So yesterday one of my PC's told me she'd send her character portrait over. As she seems to be a practical girl I was expecting a very practical explorator.
When I got it it was a skinny girl with huge knockers wearing miniskirt and a tanktop and a hood with a tiny cape.
Now in process of creating a new portrait of her character. A portrait that doesn't look like it will get a frostbite the instant ships AC fails.

Well. She'll obviously be at +10 to hit due to the Hulking Modifier and all Survival checks are made at -20.
I'm still best with Orks in DoW I. They're just fun. Fast enough to do stuff, strong enough to be able to withstand attacks, and their lines make everything better.
Pft, Chaos/Eldar Masterrace. If my hands gain a life of their own, I play Eldar and wreck people with well-timed Teleportations, Exarch abilities and other fun stuff. That only ever happens once in a blue moon though.
Chaos masterrace.

You guys are all hopeless at DOW1 Sisters of Battle are the best Crushing Eldar and Orks under steel boots and burning them with holy flame
You guys are all hopeless at DOW1 Sisters of Battle are the best Crushing Eldar and Orks under steel boots and burning them with holy flame
If i recall correctly, Sisters of Battle are only effective if you spam SoB jump pack infantry, rush the enemy and then get a living saint.
That, or you spam Celestians.
Added a few more pictures to the first post. Thoughts?

But Sisters of Battle doesn't count because SS.

Not enough heresy!
Also, put the title picture into release tags to make it centered.
Just noticed that the OP has zero mention of TT.
Slap Necromunda of there for class!

This IS the General Games Discussion forum, afterall
Yeah i should really put a section for TT in there, but there's so much it's difficult to choose what to put it. Anyone got any ideas?

Just link the to the GW description page, or each specialism games page.
Only needs a little bit really, but a mention would be nice.

Considering Tabletop is like the 'main' W40K thing, i'd rather have more than just a few links.

Link to gamesworkshop website and store finder, and a brief description of each race. Also maybe some galleries and thing like that.
This should be Warhammer General Megathread: Now includes massive amount of 40k and little bit of that old series.

I agree, tabletop is the most fun you can get out of wh40k.
Tabletop is the most money they can get out of you, too.
Unless you buy fro some... firms

This thread is for all GW related things really, although as W40K is the most popular and more people know about W40K then the other things, i called it that.
I might completely change the first post to add more TT stuff at some point.
Is it really nessisary to basecoat the models or does it make no difference whether I just start painting straight away?
[editline]4th January 2012[/editline]
By basecoat I meant with spray chaos black
