Mania is like taiko amped up several levels of complexity and turned vertical. Too hard for me :v:
That's what I said about taiko back in my osu days, so maybe someday I'll start learning mania too.. the day taiko becomes too easy.

mania 4K is pretty similar to taiko actually. I actually remapped my taiko keys to "DF/JK" like in mania just because I was so familiar with it.
If you ever do try out mania i'd suggest you start there. although the only way to get used to 5K/7K is to actually play the modes and constantly fail until you get it :v:

I'd say they're pretty equal in difficulty. At least in mania you don't need two buttons for each column.

but you need to hit anywhere from 2-6 buttons at the same time, instead of just two :v:

Too much use of primary colours, experiment with less high tone colours and less saturation in general. The border on the song listing makes it look a little too busy, I would stick with a solid colour.

Primary colors referring to...? I assume you mean the drainbar, so I'll go change it now.
Primary colours meaning colours very close to straight up RGBY, the saturation and luminosity of those colours can be a bit of an eye sore.

Not many play easy and shitty converted difficulties.
Taiko specific maps have significantly more ranked scores.

Mania is IMO easier to get into and read the maps than Taiko. I just get all confused with the latter.
Though that may be because I played o2jam when it was active quite a bit, so I got something to lean on now, starting again.
Taiko is very much about reflexes and muscle memory, reading is about the easiest part and you should fairly quickly get to the stage where rather than reading you're limited to how fast and accurate you can mash buttons.

You can get to about #5000 from one top5 score on a highly weighted map.
I tried it out on a friends account, I think I got a HD#4 and got to 4000. The playerbase is both significantly smaller and only has a tiny amount of moderately decent players.
That aside, I've busted one more keyboard and my fingers. Hurts like hell just trying to play /retired
