i missed 4 notes completely on a new map and still got the 149th place and my rank went from 10k to 7k

You think there's some secret korean tactic to it? There's not. Everything is about practice and grinding.

Hidden is by far the easiest mod to play with, you just have to have played enough to predict right.

I would agree. Being good at hidden essentially means that you're good at following a beat rather than depending on visuals.

It's a shame that some maps aren't timed well enough to make it good though, if it's just the littlest bit off...

HD is a free multiplier on many maps, and even more so in taiko
I think close to all my #1s are with hd .<.
I recently started playing osu!droid since I don't have access to a computer and oh my god I love this game.
HD sometimes improves readability on some maps for me; It's strange.
