oriens is like the worst taiko mapset though don't play it
boat's been helping me lern how 2 taiko, and I now almost have complete finger independence mapped to the different colors. I still mess up occasionally, but it's not as bad as before. And thanks to all of the reading training in taiko, I just beat one of ecksdee's scores [t]http://i.imm.io/1gLLG.png[/t] (by < 3k points...)
well done, friend I am, however, a very competetive man [editline]1st September 2013[/editline]
i am the 4K king
someone should teach me how to properly taiko.. :(
Teach me how to taiko too
taiko requires just as much "brute force practice" as mania does. 1) Remap the keys from the default to something that's more comfortable for you. I personally use DF/JK, but use whatever 1a) you can also map it to DD/KK or FF/JJ or something like that, so you only have to worry about pressing one button per color. But you most likely won't be able to do the higher end fast songs eventually without hurting yourself, and you'll have to relearn how to use 2 keys again if you want to get faster. 2) Play taiko fuutsu difficulties over and over, even if you fail, just to get faster at remembering to use a specific hand with a specific color 3) Once you can pass some fuutsu difficulties, move on to muzukashii difficulties immediately. It'll some muzu diffs are harder than others, so try them all and see whichs one you can pass. 4) After you've gotten used to muzu difficulties, your next goal is to always alternate keypresses every note. For example, force yourself to never press the [D] key twice in a row, and never hit the [K] key twice in a row. Alternate even if you don't have to, to force yourself to get into that habit. 5) By now you should almost be able to have the different hitnote colors mapped to your specific fingers, so just keep moving up the speed and trying to learn how to read faster. You could probably try playing Fuutsu/muzu diffs with hard rock on. 6) Now try playing easier oni diffs. Once again, some oni are waaaay harder than others, so the only way to know is by trying them out. Maybe choose some with slower BPMs. ???) ask boat
futsuu diffs are like for people with physical handicaps, nobody who's touched a rhytm game needs to start out with those You should play what's hard and challenging as long as you're not just mindlessly mashing buttons. Playing with HR is not required, onis don't really have a higher SV and accuracy comes naturally.
4) After you've gotten used to muzu difficulties, your next goal is to always alternate keypresses every note.
For clarification, this is to learn the pattern rather than reading each circle individually. If you know how to press that pattern you'll be able to do it at any bpm, but, if you already play maps with 1/4s you don't really have to force yourself into alternating painful 1/2s.
Jumping from "never played taiko" straight into muzu diffs is the worst idea. How can someone even play the game if they don't even know what colors go for which fingers? If they can get at least a B on a fuutsu on their first shot, then they can move up to muzu. But I can assure you everyone who's never played taiko before will fail 5+ times on a fuutsu before they get to that point, regardless of what rythym games they'd played before. Also the point about HR is my own opinion, because if you can force yourself to at least partially read a map with high SV, you will be able to easily pass it with a low SV.
You have to keep in mind that everyone are different. A lot of people can very well play a muzu right of the bat and you shouldn't limit yourself to playing the easiest difficulty if you can as well. As I said, play what's hard and challenging as long as you're not just mindlessly mashing buttons. This pretty much always applies no matter how good or bad you are.
Well, I started out by only using my right hand for most songs, but then I realized that's not a good idea for streams, so I eventually got used to using my left hand for beats now, so maybe I don't need help, just practice.
I'm gonna learn taiko by only playing Kantan diffs with half time [editline]2nd September 2013[/editline] Forcing myself to alternate is really hard because I'm so used to osu!standard help
pff thats nothing I only alternate in OSU and I cant do shit in taikerr
Do also keep in mind that forcing yourself to always alternate is only really "mandatory" if you play using ddkk. Alternating with kddk works in a different way and although it's good being able to it's not as crucial to know how to full alternate. This is what full alternate on KDDK means which depending on personal preference isn't at all necessarily the most efficient or fluent way

I cry myself to sleep every night because this fucking monstrosity made it through the ranking process and is a ranked mania map (ignore my shitty playing at the start, skip to 0:20) I'll give you one guess as to who mapped it: [sp]djpop -- wowe big surprise[/sp]
i used to listen to that song a fair bit before it was mapped for mania and the notes are completely wrong
i used to listen to that song a fair bit before it was mapped for mania and the notes are completely wrong
the notes are wrong, he adds sections that don't even exist or even make sense, and the SV changes are literally the single worst thing i've ever witnessed in mania it is hands-down the single worst map for mania even autoconverts are better

Q^Q [sp]I like smooooooooooooooooch :-([/sp]
it sounds terrible there cause you aint hitting the notes on time. dont feep bad, it happena with every map that uses those proper hitsounds
I don't know about his mania maps, but a lot of djpops standard maps are fairly solid once you get off the hate wagon. I used to hate djpop but after I got better at his style They actually became quite fun. Similar things with kirby maps. Also god damn, it took rrtyui 1 try to get 8x100 on this map and it only took me 2 tries to get 9x100, Evidently I am now rrtyui. This map is pretty amazing though, you should all give it a try. my left hand is currently incredibly sore from playing too much taiko/mania recently, so I decided to give it a rest. I still wanted to play osu! though, but relax is for pansies. so i tried playing this map with only my right hand now my right hand hurts too :( [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] aaaaaaaaaaa i was doing so good too
So, this probably isn't an achievement at all, but it feels kinda good. Now rank 9627 in taiko!
I learned 7K but I still find 4K to be more fun and intuitive :-(
( ^▽^) this game so kawaii ^_^
I learned 7K but I still find 4K to be more fun and intuitive :-( [...]
imo 4k is too boring I can't stand playing it :v:
Yeah, mania just isn't for me I guess. I'll stick to taiko .<. [editline]4th September 2013[/editline] nvm taiko is fucking balls as well :(
