playing with my eraser makes me want to cry
why must you overprice styluses so much wacom
http://osu.ppy.sh/u/95637
another ex-nolifer here myself and former mapper :v:
miss a lot playing crazy jumpy and streamy maps especially with Orkel, so been thinking of playing again after I'm done with my semester, but dropping by with a tip for mouse players as I'm 100% mouse myself

also I recommend to not turn your sensitivity above 8-9 notches, and recommend keeping it at the default notch 6th if possible for your playstyle, if your mouse feels too slow, instead adjust the DPI of your mouse since ridiculously high sensitivities can also make you overshoot sometimes
this is probably already common knowledge but it's still worth mentioning that mouse acceleration is a big no no especially if you're fairly new to the game, as acceleration can cause you a lot of overshooting and undershooting in jumps and moving about in streams, and especially sliders and the deadly accelerated ones
(this doesn't mean acceleration isn't all bad, there are some people who are simply better and used to using acceleration, and there's really no reason to switch unless you suck constantly or just starting with the game, seriously you'll learn faster with it off so you can focus on adapting your finger strength and rhythm rather than mouse control)
and yeah some people might disagree with me but as someone who has been using acceleration and high sensitivity for pretty much my entire life and from months of playing osu! for the first time, switching to a better mouse with no acceleration or large sensitivity increases helped me out on a very very large margin
Related to the above post, a good idea for tablet users would be to make the tip feel Firm and not Soft.
You can change this in the Wacom Tablet panel
PS play my maps they're good I promise!!! :) :) :)
[editline]lol[/editline]
that was meant for an automerge lol but w/e
[editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
also for extremely newcomers who are trying to step up into hard/insane territories, start off with James' maps like his BeForU series and Gojou Kai series, they all cover the basics of hard/insane maps like jumps, back and forth patterns, quick spinners, dynamic sliders, etna sliders, and fairly high BPM control
FC (full combo) all of them and you're guaranteed to have better spinner control, reflexes and mouse/tablet control
for deathstreams and streaming in general, try the stream compilation on the approved maps section and any deepsea/dipsy maps like Justice to Believe, as well as Mysterica maps, Alace provides more jumpy fun and Starrodkirby86 maps is all out fun insanity if you're ready for something crazy (Susumu Hirasawa KIRBY Mixes especially)
[editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
also another thing if you find yourself retrying maps for 100-150 times, don't be ashamed as myself always have to repeat maps at least 200-500 times lol
oh great
now my eraser hover range is very limited, I have to keep my pen on the tablet at all times :C
anyone who's suicidal might want to go ahead and give this a whirl, it's a lil' birthday gift I made for Orkel :V
http://www.mediafire.com/?bgrqyyus6o44tax
haven't released it publicly yet so might as well now
video for the lazies and the cowardly (or probably sane)

jesse has given me motivation to finish one of my maps
so I guess I shall, esp. considering all the work I put into it

I love you. I remember one of your maps having a kirby diffi (or was it one of his maps having one of your diffis?) either way fuck yes for kirby appreciation. I used to love your maps back when I was starting, always preferred your diffi on bad apple to doomsdays.
kirby's susumu difficulties are definitely nice, though I don't think I've ever yet beaten one
also I worked out how to get this silly logo to work, ~lol~, I'll just set the red outer line as the hit overlay (the overlay is already a red line but I'll just make it bigger so it's the right size and make the red line on the actual hitcircle white like the rest)
not sure why I didn't think of that
also I shall be sure to tone down the fail/complete melodies just a bit :V

Yeah it was Kirby's diff on one of my maps, which is Susumu Hirasawa - Aurora 2 and I just love how nice the guy is on top of his skills in mapping, would love to collaborate with him again someday. Also I very much appreciate too someone preferring my diff on that Bad Apple map, pretty much most people prefer it over mine and Rena's :v (though I do love Doomsday's diff too, and I respect him as a good mapper and player, plus also a pretty chill guy)
The Kirby MIX marathon is one of my favorite guilty pleasures ever since it got submitted, and the KIRBY MIX DELUXE diff he made just for it was just pure icing on the cake

Just a bit... I'm sure most of us saw that sanic hegehog map in the videos section... Finishing the map was kind of like that but 5 times worse.

it's also one of the hardest kirby maps to FC imo, still haven't FC'ed it... Still it's a fairly amazing map like all of his, nice to see you're still around by the way, don't see you on much at all.
also Taggart feel free to poke me for any help on mapping, I'm kinda rusty but I remember some basics including storyboarding :)
will do :3

college is killing me lol, but I don't fully intend to abandon osu! forever and plan to return once my semestral break comes up
and wow I haven't FC'd a map in a long time as well, I remember back then I was all up for FC'ing and retrying thousands of times within 19 hours of playing the same map over and over again, just imagining trying to attempt it on Kirby Mix Compilation is aaaaaaaaaa (in a fun masochistic Dark Souls way) :v
will do :3
ready for anything~

at first it's one happy little retry but then... it becomes an addiction....
I'm enjoying this happy birthday maps SB by the way. I like.

seriously kirby's aurora 2 is the spawn of satan to fc.
I don't play this often, but hey, here's mine.
oh my god yes
I fixed my stylus with superglue
I don't know how that even works but fuck yes

my old one was actually split in half down the side (don't ask how that happened), it was heavy as shit cause it needed 2 batteries in it.
None broken pens are for the weak.
Alright I switched and played a little. It really takes time to get used to it. Guess I won't get anything done this week.
my first S grade, it may be on easy but it was satisfying to get

http://osu.ppy.sh/u/1885127
I remember when I got this a long time ago:
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7939899/Images/Osu/ss%20%282012-08-31%20at%2009.38.50%29.jpg[/t]
Felt so satisfying, and it's still my most played map. :D
(never managed to play another map/song as many times D:)
my most played map is still Pre-Parade
over 300 times to get #1 just to get beaten by 3 300s, god damnit
[editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
oh sorry no, make that 631 times
I don't have many high ranks because once I fail a map I usually forget about it and move on to the next

ah good enough.
I used to play this on my laptop, using the shitty touch pad. God the spinners were a nightmare. Now though I can play on a proper PC. Hit me up, I guess.

I couldn't even begin to imagine how hard osu! is with a touchpad D:

It's so hard. Easy maps were hard to play, normal maps caused severe finger cramp. Hard maps were out of the question.
