You and me both.. I'm a mouse player, so I've got a hell of a cliff to climb. At my prime, I was in the top 20k.. Now I'm 70k, I can't get any higher and I get to see my rank gradually drop lower, and lower, and lower...
Regardless though, I absolutely love the game and haven't stopped playing for practically four years now. Albeit it'd be AWESOME to see my rank get higher and still be a mouse player, I'm starting to believe those two don't get along.

Though rank really means fuck all in most situations (until you get to like the top 2k who are just out of this world good) considering at rank 10k or so I was better than Taggart at asian maps but he beat me on the easier ones so.
But ye there's quite a few mouse only players in the top 1k IIRC. It aint a crutch in that respect

Rank means nothing tbh. If you are in top 2k it means you can grind maps.
The bigger your peepee the less peepee you get from easy songs tho aint it?

Yeah, you won't see those any longer as PP is at the moment nearly impossible to gain at farm rate anymore.
Yesterday I learned that you can have a mousepad over your tablet and it'd still work, (mine's thick, so I was kind of surprised) really awesome considering it was really hard to position my hand before that.

Just started playing Osu and I don't really like the default skin very much, it makes way too much noise imo. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, functional skin?
Edit: Now I'm kind of confused as to to how the skin sounds work: Sometimes it makes this really annoying whistle sound on the sliders and sometimes it doesn't.

Minimalist or w/e it was called, you used to be able to download it through the osu! updater but i don't think it's a thing anymore
From what I know mappers can add the whistle to certain notes/sliders.
And it real annoying.
But getting a skin with custom sounds should fix that.

not necessarily as who contested it is generally a higher weighting than difficulty
but generally the better players contest what's hard so naturally it generally applies

No, just raises the overall difficulty of farming. Gaining PP will always come down to farming it, doesn't matter if you have to put effort into it or not, PP still expects you to rack up more and better scores than the rest.

I used to be ranked ~12k, but I've been fairly inactive after the changes to the ranking system, so now I'm rank 71k, and I don't wanna cheap it by doing easy barely played maps.
