If you do play better with a mech day 1, chances are it's placebo.
lmao why the different between switches and domes is really noticeable and is definitely just straight up better i had to play a few maps to get used to the higher speed and lesser actuation weight but after that i was better off the bat idk i dont think you can just make blanket statements like that man, everyone plays a little differently
Definitely made a difference for me, I messed up high speed stuff constantly with my old keyboard since I couldn't really tell if I was pushing down far enough. I mostly just ended up mashing keys down as hard as I could to get proper response but that isn't really optimal when you have to let go fast again. It was the same with me; it took a few songs to get used to the new shit but it didn't take any longer than a day. Typing is so much faster too.

Sorry.
Justify your $150 purchase in any way you like, but you weren't much better day 1. Sorry.
1. I didn't spend anywhere near $150 on my keyboard, it was about $60, and what does it matter anyway? It's my money. 2. Why would you jump straight to ad hominem attacks? I'm honestly curious to see why you think that. It's equivalent to saying that if I'm playing SSFIV or P4U or some other fighting game with a controller or really cheap fightstick, then switch to a TE or a Qanba with all Sanwa parts that there's not going to be improvement? Or if I'm playing a flight-sim with a controller and then switch to a joystick. The player isn't 100%, there is a part of it that is the equipment. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] Also, why would I need to justify my purchase just because, in your view, I didn't improve on day 1? I didn't buy my mechanical keyboard just for osu!, I'm also a student, and spend a lot of time coding and typing up assignments. I'm honestly just mystified by your logic here.
oh my fuckin god jesse those little flashy things you do on notes with time in between them i hate you (jk i love you)
Me and some friends used to practice doing this a lot just to be flashier than each other and it kinda became a habbit.
Man whenever I see jesse play something his cursor looks unstable as fuck
It's actually not as bad as I thought it was. I checked out some other people's replays at half speed and even the best players have really horrific movement at those speeds.
What skin are you using in that video?
http://puu.sh/5QGyq/ab35ff6f73.zip
Justify your $150 purchase in any way you like, but you weren't much better day 1. Sorry.
More like $90 if you know what to buy and where to shop, if you're Spanish you can get like a 50% discount on Spanish meka KB's too. It's certainly worth it for anyone though and especially for osu! players. I've bought 3 mechs now 2 blacks and 1 red and I really can't deal with rubberdomes now. A mech keyboard does more for you than a tablet in osu! from my experience, it's the best investment you can make. You're probably kinda right about it being a placebo at the start to a degree, mech keyboards require different streaming techniques to use properly but you'll learn fast and it'll still be easier to stream than with a rubberdome regardless of technique.
Apparently it fixed itself. Somehow Windows 8 has this issue that it won't allow "graphical" "intense" games to be played before it has been up and running for at least 1 hour. :v:
Well first impressions of Meka G1 is that holy fuck I can never type on a rubber dome again, this feels and sounds so good. Second impressions is osu stream speed. While my speed increased only marginally, I did notice that I am a lot more stable at speeds which I could do but struggled with on a rubber dome. Might be a placebo as JELLY said but eh. We'll see in later days. But seriously my fingers are thanking me so much. I dread my laptop next semester.
How do I know if my 13 year old keyboard is mechanical? I don't know what the difference between mechanical and whatever the other option is is. [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] Speaking of that, what keyboard would you suggest in a reasonable price range, and what mouse would you suggest too, for that matter. I'm using a mouse from 13 years ago and I love it but I wonder if those terrifying gaming mice that look like they've been covered in spikes would be better.
Cheapest in my import-store-thing was Meka G1 for 83 eur or so. I'd imagine all y'all canadians can get it for even cheaper. Very nice to type on so far, I don't regret it at all. in before "buyer's remorse" is in before still bannable?
The point is that the stigma associated with rubber-domes within osu makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy for a lot of people to play bad. People shouldn't be blaming their bad streaming skills on their keyboards or their bad accuracy on using a mouse, and instead see how they can improve and think about what they're doing. That way they'll get better a whole lot faster than buying a mechanical. There's seriously way too many osu players buying a mechanical or a tablet and getting disappointed because for whatever reason they thought it would make them better. I just don't think people should be blowing $100 on accessories which they primarily only bought for use with a rhythm game.
Or they type a lot out of necessity I'd have bought a mechanical numpad for half the price if I just wanted to use this for osu! and nothing else. Unfortunately humanities requires plenty of writing. I do hope the impression I made in this thread wasn't of a man desperate to get better and wasting tonnes of money on a keyboard instead of practicing. I thought if I'm getting a new keyboard I might as well get one people say is good for osu. You might not see a difference but it's there. IN MY MIND AT LEAST, MOM

I get where you're coming from, and I do agree that there are a lot of people who think that equipment=skill (although osu! is not as notorious for this as, say, fighting games, or paintball), but I still don't understand why you care so much about what other people are spending their money on? [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] oh my fucking god jesse i just rewatched your video all the way to the end youre hilarious, i love you also how did you get so good god damn i play a lot but i havent improved in forever (or it feels like at least) [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] "im just gunu eat this toast instead"
yo i'd buy a mechanical keyboard just to have one because they feel damn nice to type with

My father for example, who is playing table tennis in a league is also spending a lot of money on everything necessary. So why shouldn't we, as huge osu! addicts also spend any money on things that'll eventually make us better at our beloved hobby? And like EcksDee has already said, we are also able to use those things for other purposes and personally, I don't find anything wrong if you are buying a tablet or a mech. keyboard mainly for osu!. I mean, avid fighting game gamers also spend money on arcade sticks, which they can only use for fighting games and not for anything else.
I would totally buy a drawing tablet just for Osu and to try drawing on the side if they didn't cost so damn much.
I would totally buy a drawing tablet just for Osu and to try drawing on the side if they didn't cost so damn much.
That's the whole point of the osu!tablet that peppy is releasing. The first 500 of 1000 were for supporters-only to preorder, but the next 500 are going to be up for grabs for anyone, and he has another batch of 1000 on the way after that. They're only going to be $30+S&H (just under $45 to the US and Canada) and are supposedly pretty good. Mine should be here any day now and I'll be doing a quick review of it when I get my hands on it.
With my membrane I could do that Furries in a Blender stream with some difficulty with this keyboard I'm consistently overstreaming it somehow. i aint jumping the gun yet but i think the keyboard got something to do with it
A friend of mine who was already good at streaming with a rubber dome said he was streaming too fast at first when he got his mechanical keyboard, so he had to spend some time practicing first.
My Meka G1 died after two months. Watch out for that.
define died
flew out into the middle of the street and got ran over by a car rip keyboard you were so young
Shorted or something. Nothing broke mechanically that thing is a tank. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline] I use a Filco majestouch 2 with blues now. It's too loud, my friends get annoyed at it on Skype. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline] Hell it survives getting run over by a car, there was a video somewhere.
buy a mechanical keyboard for ctb

I put in about a year's worth of supporter a while back, and it ran out this summer. Damn.
The preorder was actually available to all present and past supporters, so... :v: I try to always have supporter though, it's really convenient and I enjoy the game, so why not?
I'd like to have constant supporter cuz osu direct is amazing. Can't afford it atm tho.
Why are 99% multiplayer of Osu!Mania games Easy 4K? The other 1% are Insane 7K. Where is the in between? I want to vs people playing normal - hard 7K maps. Easy 4K is super boring.
It's just like that for other modes as well. Your best bet would be to just make some friends to play with. welcome to taiko multiplayer nice
ill play any mania you want bby
Three months ago I SSed my first Hard difficulty. Today I almost passed "Leaf - I" on Another( failed during the last ten seconds, ugh ), beat a 6.8k ranker on multiplayer and almost have got 4.000pp( 3pp remaining, UGH ) Back then I would have never dreamed that I'd ever become so good, seriously. Maps that felt like the speed of light to me are really fucking slow for me now and people constantly tell me how sick the maps are that I'm able to pass without any problems and yet I am so very bad compared to people like jesse. Overall I am really really happy and satisfied with my amount of skill and progression.
