friend of mine gave me some tips on how to do jumps, I don't know if it's a placebo or something but I've been getting way better:

Oh shit how did I forget to mention the new spectator chat. If someone has a spectator and plays a map they get their own private chat which all the spectators and the player can see. (Chat will not appear unless a map is started and will remain until there are no spectators left or the player leaves.)

I love this game.
If anyone is even remotely interested, this is the skin i'm using (a change from these script fonts i keep seeing often):

tom69 told me my movement is shit, well actually a lot of people say that but he told me why, probably only applies to me but my arm was really tense and I would flick to each note rather than flow like auto.
Holy shit, I am unexpectedly good with a mouse. Nearly as good as I am with a tablet, even.

Actually, I'm actually definitely better on some maps...

Jooooooin uuuuusssssss...the majority of the community who use mouse and keyboard keys!

I can't notice jack if the jumps are at the speed of light anyway.
you mouse scrubs need to step it up ai ma niga's
but seriously I can only think of a few mouse players who are top tier, gladiool, silvia (shame they quit) and keigoclear (I'd say he's the best mouser around). Not sure if shaggon still uses a mouse, I'll have to ask.
and me

so my friend got me into this and I'm getting better and better, but now I wanna make my own beatmap, anyone have any tutorials or anything?
I only found like 2 videos on youtube linked from the osu site
Renard maps are usually fun as hell.

Give me some time, gonna try to post up a basic mapping guide and tips in this thread for everyone, and a well timed song example too where people can get started mapping probably.
[QUOTE=Jackald;37648970]Funfact: One of my friends who is in the competitive CS scene plays osu to practice his mouse accuracy.

Yeah, I just really hate that song.
[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcjso2HmQqo[/media]
It's like ear-rape: The song. I might like it if he didn't apply that godammed static filter that makes everything sound like ass for the first minute of the song. It's not too bad from 1:10 onwards.[/QUOTE]
I love renard's speedcore. I hate most of his other music though

Someone should do a taiko walkthrough like the one for osu! in the op, i'll gladly add it there with due credits :)
So, I tried playing osu with my 360 controller.
It was hilariously entertaining for some reason.
I kind of don't listen to the songs too much any more, all about the map for me.

Oh god how?
[QUOTE=jesse1412;37651284]Oh god how?[/QUOTE]
Spent a while looking for programs that mapped the controller to the mouse, most of them had acceleration which made it very awkward to play with.
After looking for a while program I found one called Easy JoyMouse 3 which doesn't have nearly as much acceleration.
I'm starting to get used to playing like this :v:
[editline]14th September 2012[/editline]
If there's any interest I'll record a video of myself playing like this :v:
[editline]14th September 2012[/editline]
Just realized this program isn't free and will bug me after a few days.
[editline]14th September 2012[/editline]
I just got the achievement "Challenge accepted". What a coincidence.

How did you get all those Renard songs? is there somewhere i am supposed to be looking besides the main OSU beatmap site?

The default filter is ranked, you can filter out next to the search bar approved, unranked, graveyarded and all types, that map in particular is approved.
[editline]14th September 2012[/editline]
and just for extra note, ranked means maps that are usually possible to beat by everyone and follows a map set of difficulties for every kind of player, and the score in the end will add up to your ranked score. Approved maps are generally outside the boundaries of standard mapsets such as long durations (~5-30 mins or more) and usually fitted for pro lunatic insane-o players, and they don't go to your ranked score, but rather just affect accuracy and into your total score/level pool.

okay thanks, i haven't played OSU in a while because i got bored of anime OPs and nightcore remixes of pop songs.
yeah the amount of derivative anime OP/EDs, nightcores (lol i mapped one), and shit is ridiculous lol, haven't played myself for over a year now but I think recently things have started to change, and also there's plenty of gems to be found on the unranked sections, it may not be counted to your score but hell it's fun
Yeah I could give two shits about my rank really, i sucks pretty badly anyways. i've only found a few good DnB songs and some random rock and shit, I also don't like to play stuff that got below a 90 rating even if I know that isn't always a representation of it's quality, maybe people just don't like the song.
I personally dislike the whole 1-10 stars map rating myself, since a lot people really rate mostly just 10 or 1, 10 on anything anime, touhou, nightcore, the #1 pop song currently within the month or some overrated mapper that's shitting out at least 2-5 maps per week, and 1 on anything not anime/touhou/nightcore/pop, mildly tricky, from a relatively new mapper and other shit
of course it isn't always the case and a majority of above 9 maps nowadays do deserve them since they usually contain nice mapping styles, creative storyboards/skins and overall fun to play, though I think the sweet spot is more of an 8-9 and above, 7s and below usually means it really does suck or an acquired taste
Yeah that is totally true. I often download maps rated at least 95 and most of them are shit, half the time the beat is even off and people find that acceptable, I wish the community of this game was a bit larger so we could have a variety of different beatmaps from many genres.
The community is actually fairly large, at least as of 2012 (back then on 2009-2010 the peak online players were around a handful of 300-500 with 100k users or so, nowadays it's reaching 2000-3000 online simultaneously with 1.2m users. But the problem is, 70% or so of the community nowadays just wants to play lol.
And it doesn't help the fact that those majority are mostly weeaboos so mappers sometimes succumb to the huge fanbase demographic by mapping anime or Hatsune Miku or Nightcore stuff, so that they they just get quick 9s and 10s, or overall just get recognition so the next time they make a map they really want, they at least got attention.
I wish more players though would bother going into the forums or poking the mappers themselves on suggesting and helping on maps, maybe even some try a go on mapping themselves. 2010 was a pretty sweet year for me imho because it had a fairly spread amount community that had mappers usually making stuff ranging from rock to techno, eurobeat to dnb, rap and etc. The animu stuff were even unique and fun since were players willing to suggest to the mapping community on what songs they want and how they want it to play.
But on the bright side, every year mapping quality is indeed improving and usually are more fun to play, with the only problem is that most songs are repetitive and samey lol

cool thanks
so frustrating when people have 2 linked circles or randomly placed in quick succession for no reason.
especially on "easy" beatmaps
