Autohover is completely useless once you learn to fly well enough. You can manually control the altitude and speed much better than with autohover. The only time I have used autohover since OFP is when hovering and even then I slow down manually into the hover before engaging the autohover.
exactly my point, he's complaining about him running over guys solution is, when hovering to accept men, just autohover to stay still.
ArmA has arcade flight controls. No one cares if you are flight sim fags and think you are better at flying than everyone else.
ArmA has arcade flight controls. No one cares if you are flight sim fags and think you are better at flying than everyone else.
This cannot be stressed enough! In real life you don't survive a helicopter crash by intentional nose diving into the ground.
when you go auto hover you go 300 metres up in the sky and you have to descend for 10 minutes
when you go auto hover you go 300 metres up in the sky and you have to descend for 10 minutes
not when you use it like I said
I just said that autohover for slowing down, since it slows down automatically, you don't need manual control of altitude and speed when stopping, you just need to get to a complete halt and autohover does just that with no problems.
Dunno what kind of autohover you have but when I engage autopilot while flying fast, the helicopter starts gaining altitude. It's pretty hazardous when flying behind forests/objects/hills trying to avoid AA. It's way easier to just manually control the altitude and speed. You can even slow down by banking if you do it correctly.

That doesn't affect altitude at all. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] At least not anymore than doing it manually would.

And if you do it manually you can bank to the side to slow down, which is usually a much faster thing to do and also safer if you're near enemies. Autohover is good for staying still if you're looking at the map or something. For pretty much everything else it's shit.
Would it be possible for me to spectate the match between this thread and the airsoft thread? I want to see how things go when a semi-organized group of people play.
Most likely not, depends on the server we use. Depending on how many people show up we might have to cut some people already because we can only have 12 players per team.
1:30 -5 GMT doesn't work. Holy shit. 75% of IFAP would be sitting in their 3rd period/block at 1:30 -5.
1:30 -5 GMT doesn't fucking work. Holy shit. 75% of IFAP would be sitting in their 3rd period/block at 1:30 -5.
On a saturday?
On a saturday?
Oh wow, okay not sure why I thought the 14th was a thursday.
I think the only real problem about the time, and it's a pretty minor one at that, is that for any west coast or mountain time people it's going to be pretty early if you're used to getting up at 12 on saturdays.

Okay so now the heli lands and drops the dudes off. Now after the soldiers have cleared out their landing zone - they SHOULD move to a move waypoint way away. Instead they all hop into the drop off helicopter (which has buggered off and now has to fly back) and then just chill in there doing whatever the helicopter wants to do. death of me
I get up at eight AM on weekends but then again I'm normal It's not bad to wake up early, if anything it's better.
Depends on how much alcohol I consume Friday/Saturday night.
I've been working on a zombie mission for the past 9 hours and I am still not even at 10%. What I missed from current avaible zombie missions is the real feel the open shit and controlled hard slow zombies also darkness, lots of darkness. Basicly my mission starts at your own farmers little home, you don't have anything you need to check your map for markers (no mission goal or waypoints, you can decide your own ways, way to city? way to airport? castle way?) there are markers on many points so far the furthest is about 3km, a good thing is to follow the road so you don't get lost but first you check your weapon storage where an lee enfield with 2 mags aswell as an makarov or m1911 with 3 mags awaits you. You go to the place you choose to while there are little outposts and interesting things every now and then on all journeys (aswell as ammo storage or corpses with empty weapons etc.) so the journey don't gets boring, also almost all zombies have waypoints to certain areas. To long to explain but it really gives an great feeling and there is lots of stuff to explore and to find.
Cool! More zombie missions the merrier! Zombies in ArmA are quite fun. Here's my latest project: Thread
are you from veterans gaming?

AA12, Saiga 12k, m1014. Added a higher chance of them appearing.
are you from veterans gaming?
No?
just noticed the VG in your name
man i can't wait for ARMA3, BF3 dosen't hold me like arma 2/bf2 does.
AA12, Saiga 12k, m1014. Added a higher chance of them appearing. No?
oh, I thought you added more. Though imo adding pump shotguns is sort of pointless since arma doesn't have pumping animations. Semi-autos fit with the game better.
Why are all communities such asshats to people under 16? I'm 14, applied for a community seriously (The Art of Warfare) and they reject it and don't tell me why when asked. All their players seem to be such anal assholes most of the time, especially one of their players, A. Mitchell. Anyway, why can't we have nice things?
Why would you want to be a part of a community that discriminates based on age, can't make an exception, or even at absolute minimum let you in for a trial and then just knock you back. You dodged a bullet. Disclosing your real age if you know it won't be a problem is also a dumb thing tbh, and is precisely something somebody your age would do. Brutally honest here. [editline]10th January 2012[/editline] Oh haha I've checked them out now and being an overtly honest person I have to say, this is the ArmA thread, not the cawadoody and Star Wars: The Casual Republic thread. Why do kiddies actually want to be in big communities of l33t circlejerking assholes like theirs, especially when the hopeful applicant calls out some of them as assholes already by himself. Is it all for just a few letters in front of a name? I don't think I'll ever understand. Yeah you don't want to join them. Play with friends, not uptights that don't respect you.

Just, yeah, why do you fucking care?
ideas for fun missions?
