A little bit of me might die if ACE3 is set in the futuristic bullshit Arma 3 takes place in.
I'm so glad that by the time I'll get around to building a PC that can run Arma 3 there will probably be a bunch of mods that get rid of the futuristic crap.
Yep. :v:
Red Barrons, Stormtroppers. WHAT KIND OF A FUCKED DIMENSION IS THAT.
Are there any mods that enhance the visual quality?

Atleast with ARMA 3 it will be killing brown people in Greece with a twist.
cant we just play as apple and buy greece no more wars

Like I want to be on Zhenbao/Damansky Island when it escalates into a major war.
Hey. I have ARMA: 2 retail DVD (505 Games version) and have had trouble getting it to work, with all the patches and all. On default, the installed version is 1.01 (if I remember correctly) and first I tried downloading the most recent patch, 1.11. The download and installation had to be done manually and when I got to installing 1.11, a message says that I "require 1.05 patch first". So I started installing 1.05 and when that was done, my ARMA: 2 was fucked. A minor error comes up, something to do with "could locate ARMA2:\ALL.exe" (something like that) but ignored it, finalizing the installation. Then, on startup (of 1.05, as a test to see it was installed correctly), two messages are displayed. First says that "addon CA_AH64D requires version 1.04 of the application". This let's me continue but only to get another message: "Error compiling pixel shader PSSSSM Specular Alpha:1". This error terminates the startup and the box with 10 or so boxes, only 8 are ticked (though this is just a minor detail). Anyways, I haven't been able to fix this no matter what. I tried reinstalling and repatching, with the same files (tried different mirrors, too) but to no avail. I read about TkOH_preview, that is part of the AH64 chopper addon or the other way around, but nothing helpful has come up, since I havent found any files related to Take On: Helicopters in my whole computer, let alone the ARMA:2 folder(s). I've tried lurking Google, BI forums, Armaholic(?) and lots of other sites for help, but none of these site's have worked. tl;dr: newest patch requires older patch, older patch renders game unplayable. Help is needed (and welcome).
Are there any mods that enhance the visual quality?
Most computers can barely run the game as it is.
A little bit of me might die if ACE3 is set in the futuristic bullshit Arma 3 takes place in.
Is it just me who likes the prospect of semi futuristic weaponry? Would make the look of it much more original. As well as make the gameplay much more fun, rather than just reinventing the wheel over and over.
I'd like some modern weaponry, but not retarded laser bullshit.
i like futuristic weapons, but the mk17 is ugly it's like a giant mass of gay
Tried out Arma1 demo... Holy shit it's better than any fps I played before! Why haven't I get this game sooner? Well, I shall try to show arma series to all of my friends who plays cod...
i like futuristic weapons, but the mk17 is ugly it's like a giant mass of gay
I agree it's absolutely horrible, In fact I don't think I like any of the weapons in OA at all.
I agree it's absolutely horrible, In fact I don't think I like any of the weapons in OA at all.
AA-12 with explosive shells wants to have a word with you.
AA-12 with explosive shells wants to have a word with you.
Thats just the exception confirming the rule :v:
mk17 rco has the best sight for cqb to medium range and missions that might turn into night
I'd like some modern weaponry, but not retarded laser bullshit.
I don't see any "laser bullshit". It's mostly cancelled and planned military projects, like the comanche recon helicopter and the israeli merkava tank.
i think the coaxial rotor helicopter with a mi-28 havok body they showed was make believe
I agree with the whole "I don't want to shoot brown people anymore" thing, and I'm all for a new setting, but I feel like with the direction Arma 3's content is going is going to feel weird in the end, judging by the weird looking uniforms and "T-100K"s. TBH going back to 1960s/1980s would be a waste of potential, given how crazy long BIS projects take, so I'll keep an open mind, but I definitely still want the option to return to the present world, via mods of course. Agreeable conclusion, yes?

I really want to see what kind of systems they come up in ArmA 3 though, it'll be a real bummer for the super-modern tanks to be just like the ones we have right now but with a new model/guns. Trophy system, yes please.
Oh folks, I checked out arma 3 site not long ago, and i noticed that the faction list does not include the US Army.. that's depressing, instead we get UN and Nato.. and UN is kind of gay... edit: rechecked the site, UN is gone

If so it'd make sense if they don't straight up list it as "US Army".
I agree it's absolutely horrible, In fact I don't think I like any of the weapons in OA at all.
you don't like the FN FAL, Sa. 58, M60, MG36, Carl Gustav, M47 Dragon, Glock 17, Micro Uzi, and Vz. 61? I'd say the Sa. 58, Glock 17, and Vz. 61 are among my favorite weapons in the series.

Let us use the screens for targeting, navigating, and misc shit like radar, instead of lame static textures and enterable sights. Make missiles guide the way they're supposed to, instead of gamey insta 180 degree arc targeting system. Give tanks proper reactive armor (ERA), countermeasures, and a module system that makes a bit more sense. Just a few things Arma lacks that are almost immediately noticeably by any informed player. I could make a huge list if I sat here for 30 minutes of everything I could want in a game like Arma. Arma 3 better take advantage of the potential at hand, hell it's in 2020 or w/e, they could make up cool gadgets and toys and it'd still be cool.
profan doesn't like anything BUT HIS LEFT HAND AHGAAHEAHE [editline]24th January 2012[/editline] but yeah arma3s gonna be fucking weird but itll have so much fucking potential you technically wont be porting units though as far as infantry goes, because of the whole changing gear including uniform and vest/helmet etc which'll be awesome as fuck, gives you personality for your character

Speaking of ArmA 3, it really needs muzzle flashes. Proper muzzle flashes, not a 3D sprite flower model that pops in and out when you shoot, and they should be visible from afar during the night. (I haven't checked this for some time, has it been fixed in 1.60?)
arma needs battlefield 3 like effects
