I was having such a good time last night. I reinstalled Armed Assualt and downloaded like EVERY RACS VECHILE I could find on Armaholic.
I started off with the Russians making a beach assault on a Southern Sharani Shore, I figure that RACS only have a few naval vessels and the Russians steamrolled through them so landing wasn't difficult. The RACS defense on the beach head was hastily constructed and it wasn't long before the Russians moved into a town behind the lines and the RACS forces fell back.
Than there was some intense urban fighting that night in a city to the West as the Russians moved in. It was awesome playing as the Russian sniper and picking off soldiers as they ran across the streets, than moving through the dark city without NVG's and running right into RACS guys with my Makarov and frantically unloading a mag into him. Russian helicopters occasionally flew through and pounded RACS armored positions and I think in the end it was a pretty even match.
I absolutely despise arma1's ai compared to arma2's.
Can't play it anymore, at all. Not to mention the terrible animations.
how the fuck does a 7.62x54R blow up an abrams
I thought this game was supposed to be realistic.
that's like a soviet soldier blowing up a Tiger with his mosin.
any weapon can aspode a tank, if you give it enough ammo
iirc its 500 rounds of M249 to blow up a tank

Haha what :v:
If you used an M240 or PKM and shot enough at the T-90's tracks in vanilla, the crew would panic and actually bail out of the tank
hopefully they finally patched that, but ACE seems to fix it anyway so idk if it still exists in vanilla
The Day that Sahrani war went hot.
Haha what :v:
it's actually 2000 rounds
it's actually 2000 rounds
so THAT'S why the BMP2's PK has exactly 2000 rounds of ammo in reserve.
The aiming in Arma 2 really bothers me tbh. It's so weighted it hurts. I've played a ton of Arma but it's still hard to get used to. You don't let the gun awkwardly swing around while aiming IRL, you snap to targets just the same as you might in CS:S or CoD. Going out on a limb here I guess but anyone know of any way to tighten up the swinging "drift" that goes on when switching targets?
it just has insane amounts of mouth smoothing
unfortunately there's no real fix to that.
mouth?

You can disable it completely with one of the sliders in the settings, can't remember which section it was in. Probably controls.
But yeah, mouse smoothing is the reason for that annoying drift when aiming, or at least it was for me. It was gone completely when I turned mouse smoothing off in the settings.

That's exactly what I said.

What about using a M9
I think it'll take a day to blow one up.
For those of you with TrackIRs, is 4 adequate enough for most games out there? TrackIR 5 is pretty expensive compared to 4 and I'm wondering if the difference is negligible.

Freetrack is the solution my friend :v:
Buy a trackir clip pro, then if you have a wiimote use that as a camera ,or buy a webcamera and take the ir filter out, and put a diskette piece or sometihng to block visible light infront of the lens, voila freetrack!
Unless you want to build one yourself, buying the clip is the easiest really.

500 restocks later and 50 ammo trucks later...
