I hope the AI in Arma 3 can fuckin' DRIVE through a town without getting lost because they couldn't figure out how to not drive into a wall, and then stop driving into it. All the while you roll into battle alone
Holy shit why didn't I go online on this sooner. Racking up 400 points being an Apache gunner, landing C130s on mountain tops, tank jousting, jumping C130s over with Bradleys. oh man [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] Falling from any height reminds me of the early days of Red Orchestra where if you fell from 1 metre, your legs would come clean off.
Falling from any height reminds me of the early days of Red Orchestra where if you fell from 1 metre, your legs would come clean off.
And where the AI was limited to slowly walking towards you in a long continuous line. 'Twas like a shooting gallery. :smug:
i know it's just WIP but those vehicle physics looked really wonky :v: also i hope the white interface is just a placeholder, it looked so terrible in ArmA 1 i really hope they don't go back to it
The game isn't out until next year, they have plenty of time.
I believe the physics wont be much better than that but it's more than I ever hoped for.
I hope the AI heli gunners actually see enemies in A3. Currently it sometimes happens that he doesn't even see one 200m in front of the heli, despite him (theoretically) being able to USE GODDAMN THERMAL VISION.
artillery spam i smell here
Presumably everything will be counterable (I.E men of war)
Presumably everything will be counterable (I.E men of war)
What were the German counterbattery assets like in 1944?
What were the German counterbattery assets like in 1944?
I don't know. I was more referring to how susceptible artillery is to everything unless very well guarded. So, presumably, if the player can knock off enough of the Soviets guarding the artillery, he can kill the artillery via tanks/infantry. Not that that's very likely. Then again, the description for the German campaign is "Put off loosing for as long as possible", i.e it is impossible to win. There's the Hummel, but I doubt many of those would be available to your unit, if any at all.
Well, operationally and strategically, they were obviously beaten by the Third Period of the Great Patriotic War.
I heard the same thing about Facepunch.
Before I posted that I thought the same thing bro lol.
Well, operationally and strategically, they were obviously beaten by the Third Period of the Great Patriotic War.
True. Again, according to the description of the game posted there, the German's main focus is stalling the Soviets, not winning against them. I'm curious as to where and when the game starts. It would be pretty cool to be a Soviet cavalryman in the Korsun-Cherkassy pocket during that one incident with suchandsuch a German division (I can't remember its name), riding around and hacking at fleeing Germans with your saber like it's 1761. That's unlikely though.
Talking about stalling, I remember this interesting bit from David M. Glantz's study "American Perspectives on Eastern Front Operations in World War II":
Mellenthln's work, written without benefit of archival materials, tended to treat tactical cases without fully describing their operational context. Opposing Soviet units, as in Guderian's work, were faceless. Mellenthin's classic account of XXXXVIII Panzer Corps' operations along the Chir River after the encirclement of German 6th Army at Stalingrad stands as an example of the weaknesses of his book. In it he describes the brilliant operations of that panzer corps in fending off assaults by Soviet 5th Tank Army's units which included first the 1st Tank Corps and later 5th Mechanized Corps. On 7-8 December 1942, 11th Panzer Division parried a thrust of 1st Tank Corps at State Farm 79 while on 19 December, 11th Panzer checked the advance of 5th Mechanized Corps. Despite the vivid accounts of these tactical successes, Mellenthin only in passing describes the operational disaster that provided a context for these fleeting tactical successes. For, in fact, while Soviet 5th Tank Army occupied XXXXVIII Panzer Corps' attention, to the northwest Soviet forces overwhelmed and destroyed the Italian 8th Army and severely damaged Army Detachment Hollidt. Moreover, Mellenthin did not mention (probably because he did not know) that Soviet 1st Tank Corps had been in nearly continuous operation since 19 November and was under strength and worn down when it began its march across the Chir.
I love ArmA 2, one of the down reasons to it is that I bought the Polish version ( not intended... or was it ? ) and can't understand anything, I did download a language pack but never tried it on Internet. One thing this game should have is a auto update, it's a pain in the butt to download all patches or is there any patch from 1.00 to the latest (which I don't know... v1.10? ).
Not sure about normal ARMA 2, but the latest Operation Arrowhead patch patches it from every version, and also patches normal ARMA 2 and all of the DLC.
Not sure about normal ARMA 2, but the latest Operation Arrowhead patch patches it from every version, and also patches normal ARMA 2 and all of the DLC.
Hm Operation Arrowhead is standalone right? if so which do Facepunchers play? And is there any way to change language to English without using language pack, or at least any pack which guarantees multi-player.
Most everyone uses Combined Operations, AKA ArmA 2 and ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead.
Ah, well sucks for me, don't wanna buy AA2:OA, but if I get ArmA2 working with english then expect me in some games hopefully :D
So I reinstalled ARMA2 (damn you, Flashpoint manual, and your ninja-ness :argh:). Can I install the latest patch and be done with that or do I have to install them in order?
Uhh couple of silly questions: 1. Can you turn off thermal vision in 'AWS' sights? 2. Is there a way turn on thermal vision without cycling through NV?
still laggy, how do i unlag it
Uhh couple of silly questions: 1. Can you turn off thermal vision in 'AWS' sights? 2. Is there a way turn on thermal vision without cycling through NV?
No and no.
still laggy, how do i unlag it
Turn settings down. Failing that, buy a better PC
I heard that Operation Arrowhead is more optimized than the original Arma 2, but how much more optimized? Will it give more FPS than ARMA 2 did and is it a bit less cpu intensive?
Turn settings down. Failing that, buy a better PC
I turned all my settings down but players and vehicles are still out of sync. Other players and enemies appear to sporadically move from place to place.
I turned all my settings down but players and vehicles are still out of sync. Other players and enemies appear to sporadically move from place to place.
Uh, sounds like you have a really shitty internet connection.
Uh, sounds like you have a really shitty internet connection.
Could wi-fi be my problem?
Could wi-fi be my problem?
yes that would be a big fucking problem
I turned all my settings down but players and vehicles are still out of sync. Other players and enemies appear to sporadically move from place to place.
Is this online or offline? If online, try a different server, if offline, that's not supposed to happen.
