anyone wanna play some arma with me?
Joined a random server. Everyone on both sides got on a bus and went on a scenic roadtrip around Chernarus for a while, until the bus got stuck in a ditch and everyone went back to killing each other. What an awesome game. :v:
I heard that Operation Arrowhead is more optimized than the original Arma 2, but how much more optimized? Will it give more FPS than ARMA 2 did and is it a bit less cpu intensive?
the only reason OA runs better than ArmA 2 is because of Takistan AKA Shitstan it's a desert and it's ugly as shit, so of course it's going to run better than Chernarus when Chernarus is a huge foresty area full of as sorts of stuff

I've never had a problem with any Source-based games on wireless, despite the fact that the wireless card and router I use are pure shit. I guess I'll have to deal with it then, since there's no way to move the router anywhere near my computer :sigh: Is there any chance Combined Operations will go on sale during the big steam sale?
Is there any chance Combined Operations will go on sale during the big steam sale?
Isn't it 25% off right now?
I tried using my PC controller for arma 1 and fucking planes keep losing engine power. :sigh:

Is CWR2 any good? What's so special?
arma 2 is a poorly optimized and poorly made game, OA follows in its footsteps Takistan is a piece of shit map and runs better than Chernarus because it has 90% less shit in it
Dude I'm pretty sure a guy who works for BIS knows more about the game than you. I'm going to take his word for it over yours.
Dude I'm pretty sure a guy who works for BIS knows more about the game than you. I'm going to take his word for it over yours.
you don't have to know how to bake a cake to know if it tastes good or not
Is CWR2 any good? What's so special?
If you long for OFP's units recreated in ArmA 2 or want 1980s Cold War units, yes.
you don't have to know how to bake a cake to know if it tastes good or not
... but it helps.
If you long for OFP's units recreated in ArmA 2 or want 1980s Cold War units, yes.
Can I make a World In Conflict style fight with it?
you don't have to know how to bake a cake to know if it tastes good or not
What are you using? A core 2 duo and a 8600? Because getting a post-2009 rig fixed all of my performance problems. You should too.
you don't have to know how to bake a cake to know if it tastes good or not
ignorance at its finest ye
Can I make a World In Conflict style fight with it?
Sure. Plop down those units in the editor and have a big fight.

I've just aqquired a dedicated server from hetzner, so our FP games or whatever, under a new name though will be more frequent, and i will be taking suggestions for missions to add to the server through a form i'll make soon. The Dedicated server will then be up 24/7 instead of just when we play,
Where will it be located?
Germany, at www.hetzner.de. You are free to use it if you want, as long as I don't need it at that time  You'll probably get great latency to it, from sweden i get 20-30 to it.
Any plans on leaving it on some sort of Warfare mode between events?
Well, it seems like the Airsoft subforum will be getting their own ArmA 2 Dedicated server, most likely hosted in NA. Interesting.
Any plans on leaving it on some sort of Warfare mode between events?
You know why warfare sucks cock? It takes five hours to even meet a real player among the AI running around. Especially since the server probably wont be full.
Warfare is shit.
Any plans on leaving it on some sort of Warfare mode between events?
I hate warfare. The villages only have few AI soldiers and it takes you ages to capture enough villages to get to the area where the other team operates. And you have to buy all the shit you use. And once you get a tank you become almost unstoppable thanks to the fact that the villages are almost empty. Atleast put domination instead of warfare or something. Atleast in domination you are given possibilty for infranty combat instead of constantly needing a vehicle thanks to the Mobile Respawn Point. Or better yet, put on insurgency.

Difficulty of resistance in towns from Easy, Medium, Hard, and Impossible, as well as allowing them to bring in reinforcements, which makes the fight for the town pretty much never ending, even after you capture it, along with that you can make Occupation forces (AI of BLUEFOR or OPFOR) Be Easy to Impossible as well. You can adjust starting funds for each soldier AND the commanders, the supply type, whether you wait with time or use actual trucks to transport supply, all that good stuff. Being in a tank in BE doesn't make you unstoppable by any means, you'll take an RPG to the ass very easily, either from the Locals or OPFOR, or a tank. Resistance in towns will use tanks as well if you set their difficulty to Medium or higher, and will even use them on easy sometimes. They're normally T-55's and the like Playing that mode on Zargabad is god damn good fun. You can also make it Infantry only, with the Benny Edition, and setup the ability to spawn anywhere that your force occupies, Towns/Camps/HQ

So I now quote Cuel for my opinion:
Warfare is shit.
I didn't mean Warfare exactly or god forbid Domination, I just mean something less event based, so people can hop in whenever they can and still enjoy some teamplay. Rotating missions is good if you have enough people, but that's not always a given.
What are you guys talking about? I love warfare, there is so much to do and you can approach any situation as you wish. Maybe its because I'm new to arma, but I love who much freedom is afforded by warfare/domination.
