What CPU are you using? That's really more important for ARMA 2
Also I wouldn't really bother with the 10GB myself, but that's with Australian super capped internet and terrible download speeds. I don't know what sort of connection you have but it'd take me nearly a week to download 10GB leaving my PC on overnight every night.
Personally I'm getting 40-80 FPS and 40 is playable in close quarters but not ideal. However, a consistent 30FPS is better than a stuttery 50FPS so yeah. As for close quarters, depending on the map, you won't really get that much close shooting and most of the time you'll be cooping against AI so if you play it smart 20FPS would be fine.
Are there any recommended single-player mods? I can't play this online, but I got it free from greenman.
Why do people use six updater, it's probably the most buggy, slow one out there. Yoma is far better
Yoma is outdated and unupdated for over 1(or 2) years (tons of bugs)
i'm sure you speak about version early v1 sixUpdater ,
while version 2 is unmatched by anything released by community
(in terms of UI, features and quality and nearly daily support, author has skype support channel, support google wave, Disqus on-site and Redmine powered bug tracker (which is also used by CIT - Community Issue Trackers))
from others there so far is only 1 simple UI (c++) based updater, which surprise is based on opensource v1 sixupdater
so person claiming v2 six-updater is POS obviously not even tried to use it longer than 60s

AMD Anthlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+.
Somehow I am starting to think I am even further below par now than I though now that I remembered it is only a dual core.

Also it only took me one night to DL TF2 (10 whole gigabytes) on my internet, but that was Steam's servers. GMG is slower.
yes that CPU is definitely very weak
the slowest CPU i would recommend to use is C2D at 3.0GHz and even that is weak (4GHz OC helps a bit), quadcores do fine too
ofcourse anything newer like i5 or i7 on 3-5GHz is ensuring it works (our engine love 5GHz on steroids lol)
YET for Intel users - don't forget to disable HyperThreading in BIOS (this is must for 90% of people using HT enabled CPUs, rest of 10% has excelent chipset/mobo/bios where it for some reason make no difference and just works great)

I'm running ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead on a 1.86GHz, it's absolutely painful at times but atleast I can play with bros and shit.

IIRC, can't the one I am using be overclocked to 3.2GHz?
[editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
Goddamnit all my hardware is from 2005-2007.
This is going to run terrible. Downloading anyway, I would rather have it already installed so that it is there already when I upgrade this piece of shit.
[editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
Hmm, would ARMA 2 Free run better? Also, is there a patch around where I could downgrade things to be of the A2F quality to increase performance?
lol
if your down for the Battle Chinook, the name of the server is the fruit basket
pass is apple
you need Ace2.

Quick question: I bought CO from steam, and after installing both games, I can't launch the "combined operations" option from the OA launch menu. What do I do?

Start steam as administrator, start ArmA 2, end it, start CO.

Start Arma 2 by itself atleast once first
Got a technical issue:
Whenever I launch ArmA 2 CO, my mouse cursor starts flickering. As it, when I mouse over a block of text, it rapidly flickers between the regular cursor and the text cursor. Quitting ArmA doesn't fix it, I have to restart to get back to normal. It's incredibly distracting and for some reason just started happening today. I never used to have this problem with ArmA 2 or OA.
Going to update ATI drivers and see if it happens again.
EDIT: Updated drivers fixed nothing, but it seems to happen any time Steam is running, not just ArmA. Steam just updated, too, I bet that's the problem.
I desync'd so much on the mission where the russian guy came. And I desync a lot on other servers too, how the fuck can I fix this? It's totally ruining the game experience (since, you know, every goddamn vehicle goes through walls, buildings or tress if they move on the road, or helicopters go through the ground mid-flight).
Well anyone knows what I can do to get rid of desync?
Ok guys, listen to this weird error, so I have had Arma2 and Arma2OA for about a year now, I've been playing combined OPs all the time. I recently started to play Combined Ops again and I am missing some models and I get an error that says I am running Arma2:OA as a standalone user, meanwhile I have Arma2 installed? I have been trying to fix this but I have no idea what to do or where to start, I tried updating ACE Mod but its at its latest
Well anyone knows what I can do to get rid of desync?
There's not really a whole lot you can do; if it is a connection problem. (Which it sounds alot like it is.)
So will someone make an ARMA 2 game now that everyones copy is working please?
From what I have understood it is possible to combine Arma II and OA, this being CO. Can you combine a retail Arma II with a steam OA and get a fully working CO?
yes

No one plays vanilla Arma 2 you cheap bastard.
hnnnng why I keep getting disconnected from every single fucking server I try to join?
Like, immediately after downloading mission files.

Do you have the mods the server uses?
Anyone down to 8 man Normandy tonight with mctierone?
Anyone down to 8 man Normandy tonight with mctierone?
Sounds good to me.
Alright well we are going to start tonight at 10pm central (we are night owls:zoid:). You are going to need mumble, I44, Ace, Mctierone, and CBA. If you don't have Ace or CBA already your shit outta luck. Visit the vidya thread in the airsoft forums for more information. Also you are going to need a pretty decent computer to run I44 with a playable fps. To put it in perspective I get an average of 25fps on very high (30fps on normal with no AA) with my 560ti and my 965 phenom quad core clocked at 3.6ghz. Although due to the nature of I44 which is mostly close quarters combat, not your usual camp on the hill and pick targets off from 600+ meters, your fps will decrease by 25% during intense engagements which seems to occur around every corner. If you need anything else I will be glad to assist you just give me a pm.
