Alright well we are going to start tonight at 10pm central (we are night owls). You are going to need mumble, I44, Ace, Mctierone, and CBA. If you don't have Ace or CBA already your shit outta luck. Visit the vidya thread in the airsoft forums for more information. Also you are going to need a pretty decent computer to run I44 with a playable fps. To put it in perspective I get an average of 25fps on very high (30fps on normal with no AA) with my 560ti and my 965 phenom quad core clocked at 3.6ghz. Although due to the nature of I44 which is mostly close quarters combat, not your usual camp on the hill and pick targets off from 600+ meters, your fps will decrease by 25% during intense engagements which seems to occur around every corner. If you need anything else I will be glad to assist you just give me a pm.
You should really make a single modfolder people can just download.
You should really make a single modfolder people can just download.
The only mod required beside I44 (Which is too big.) and ACE (Which is also too big.) is McTierOne. Why make a modfolder for only one mod?
The only mod required beside I44 (Which is too big.) and ACE (Which is also too big.) is McTierOne. Why make a modfolder for only one mod?
Easier to handle maybe, oh wait ACE was included in there. Yeah screw that.
Easier to handle maybe, oh wait ACE was included in there. Also making things a bit complicated and difficult weeds out the idiots who ruin the game anyways.
Goddamn I told myself I would start getting up early this summer, looks like that's not going to happen with these late games :v: oh well
I think I have everything. I'm down.
that's one of the dumbest things i've ever seen posted on these forums
it does save a shitload of time
if he doesn't want to do it then don't do it, but to say it makes things "complicated and difficult" is fucking stupid it's not complicated nor difficult, it simply takes less time therefore it's nicer to just have a modpack, like any half-decent server would do

I declare winner, you loose :downs:.
oh arma u so funny
AA missiles in arma 2 are proximity weapons, they explode within 20~m of you with pretty hefty force, add to that the rubberbanding you get in MP and it ends up looking further away when it pops
Just started giving the editor a go. It's really quite easy to use, and the SecOps module is amazing. Add infinite artillery support, fill the squad with medics and you're good to go. Now I just have to figure out how to get respawning to work without breaking SecOps. I have to try the 3D editor thing sometime too though, I want to make my own 'battlebus'

I just made a squad file for Facepunch that I'm hosting on my FTP. If you want to be added, PM me with: id = your Player-UID, always the same and irrespective of your selected character nick = your nick, the same as used with your selected character name = your "real" name (or just N/A if you don't want it to show up in-game) email = your personal email (or just N/A) remark = it shows up when someone clicks your name in the players list, it can be whatever you want You can find your unique player ID by going Player profiles -> edit from the main menu. In "Squad URL" put:
http://rautapalli.com/random/arma/squad/squad.xml
This is what it looks like in-game: The logo will also be painted on any of the vehicles you are currently driving. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline] Should I make the logo have a white background by the way? I thought it would look better as transparent, but I'm not sure anymore. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline] Profan suggested a semi-transparent background, so now it looks like this (on the side of a tank :v:):

That's pretty fucking rad!
Haha, had fun with Thomo last night playing online, Thomo tried so hard trying to get us around with helicopters but always ended up crashing them in the end. Thomo was supposed to land at some point, as we were howering above a forest, the engines cut out. "Did you just shut down the engine?" "Yes" "well, shit" Then we blew up on the trees :v:
How do I enable the "Ambien Civillians" module? I'd like to make a Sniper mission, and have some civvies wandering about for atmosphere.
hnnnng why I keep getting disconnected from every single fucking server I try to join? Like, immediately after downloading mission files.
For me, I had to move the Battleye folder from Bohemia Interactive / Arma to Capsule Games / Arma 2 - PC.
How do I enable the "Ambien Civillians" module? I'd like to make a Sniper mission, and have some civvies wandering about for atmosphere.
Just put it in, and there will be civs.
I love it, but I can't stand typing code. How did you get the artillery module working?
For arty support, create a trigger and name it something. I just called mine "Support", doesn't matter really. Then, in the on act box paste in this code:
[["artillery_barrage"], player, [[]], [true]] call BIS_SOM_addSupportRequestFunc;
If you set the trigger to activate on 'Radio Alpha', and have it on repeatedly, you can then have radio artillery support available via just pressing 0, then 0 to select radio, then selecting 'Support' or whatever you called the trigger, and you call the arty by pressing space and choosing communication, then support, then choose your fire mission from the list (like immediate HE suppression or something). I found out after trying this out that you don't even need a artillery module (not even a virtual piece) to get this working, but for this method to work you need the SecOps module running. If you don't want SecOps but want this module running you can just place and sync a SecOps module to your player, and put this in the int field for the SecOps module to 'turn it off':
this setVariable ["settings", [[], true, nil, nil, false]];
Everything here I learnt from the wiki just by searching artillery module or SecOps, or whatever. It's got almost everything you need to know, although I haven't gotten into the heavy scripting yet like scripting outside of the ingame editor, that stuff comes later. One of the problems is that I don't think this would work very well in MP without some changes and also this might not work with respawning, haven't tried, but I know that SecOps desyncs when you die and respawn so the support may no longer be available. For this reason I would just use this in SP without any respawning scripts, unless you know how to resync the SecOps module when the player dies (I don't). Use the artillery module properly if you want arty and respawning. Also if you want more than just artillery for the radio support, this entry gives you all support options:
[["transport", "aerial_reconnaissance", "supply_drop", "tactical_airstrike", "artillery_barrage","gunship_run"], player] call BIS_SOM_addSupportRequestFunc;
It gives transport, UAV, supply drop, CAS, and artillery. tl;dr edition Artillery support without Artillery module by using SecOps module - No SecOps missions ingame if you don't want them 1)Create SecOps module and sync it to the player. Paste this in its int field to disable it if you don't want SecOps missions:
this setVariable ["settings", [[], true, nil, nil, false]];
2)Create trigger, name it anything 3)In the trigger's on act field, paste in this code for artillery:
[["artillery_barrage"], player, [[]], [true]] call BIS_SOM_addSupportRequestFunc;
or this for lots of support options including artillery:
[["transport", "aerial_reconnaissance", "supply_drop", "tactical_airstrike", "artillery_barrage","gunship_run"], player] call BIS_SOM_addSupportRequestFunc;
4)Set the trigger's activation to Radio Alpha, or something else if you know what you want 5)Set it to repeatedly if you want this to give support more than just once a game That's all. Press 0 twice to get the radio option to enable support ingame, then press space, select communication, and select whatever you named the trigger, and that'll give you the support option list to choose from.
I'm a active player on Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead, I do not have the combined operations. But I have both Expansions. If you ever feel like playing, then add: Sgt Ellman or Pimp_E (Pimp_E is login) To see how my gameplay is, take a look: I'm also a pilot. A quite good one. So I hope you send me a friend request so we could play some. (The voip in the movie is both in-game and from Havoc Squad's ventrilo.) If you wonder what havoc squad is all about, then you can easily contact me. - "Need to go back in there now and finish them off" - :suicide:
Went on the 82nd Airborne server, they were pretty cool. I was a Blackhawk pilot most of the time. Did a decent job carrying them around to the various AOs. I think I'll go back to that server tomorrow.
How is the Arma 2 OA multiplayer? How many people are playing
How is the Arma 2 OA multiplayer? How many people are playing
No idea but Combined Ops is alive as ever
No idea but Combined Ops is alive as ever
So is vanilla ArmA 2.
So I bought Operation Arrowhead during the Steam Sale (It was too good to pass up, dang it Steam). Any Mods and/or Addons I should get for it? EDIT: I may also dump Pictures of some of my many mock Battles in the future.
This game may look moderately good graphics wise, but it lacks immensely in many ways, the gameplay is just...extremely bad in my opinion. Maybe it takes some getting used to, but it's just ridiculously clunky and slow. I guess slow is the point of a "realistic" game, but it's harder to aim in this game than it is in real life. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline] And I think it really sucks too, this game has extreme potential to be an extremely fun game, if only the gameplay didn't feel like I'm on some sort of bipod camera or something.
This game seems so bad ass...
