Cops vs Crooks with PCGamer | Evan is so much fun.
yep, PCGamer sessions are good, same as Shacktac and TacticalGamer and some others ... [editline]19th July 2011[/editline]
What
glad You like me, i lold :)
ArmA 2 needs more smart players. Also i find that Op. AHead players are very cooperative.
Ever since I mounted ACE, I get this error on startup The titles load but the game crashes when it gets to the main menu. Any help?
Have you got @CBA running as well? Have you got the right version of ACE installed? (OA standalone Vs. Combined ops, because CATracked2_AAV is a combined arms addon reference if I remember right)

On a maybe related note, I can't actually run Combined Ops, I just get a flash of command prompt and then the game doesn't launch.
Have you got it on Steam or retail/Sprocket?

You're supposed to use CBA_OA. Although I'd rather try to fix launching Combined Ops instead, since you'll be missing out on a lot of servers if you're not using it.
I don't know where I can find CBA_OA, but any tips on fixing combined Ops?
Have you tried launching ARMA 2 at least once before trying to use Combined Ops? That's needed with the Steam version from what I remember.
Have you tried launching ARMA 2 at least once before trying to use Combined Ops? I appear to have fixed the problem. Everything works! Thanks to all you guys who helped. Just discovered Operation Arrowhead is now broken with the same error. That's my OA folder, does it look fine? I was advised to put tier one units into an addons folder as I couldn't get it to work, it still doesn't though.
Looks fine to me, the thing that's more important is the Target line in your shortcut, and the order the mods are activated in. Pretty sure load order matters as with CBA at the beginning I had errors, but with it at the end it worked fine My shortcut line looks like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe" -nosplash -skipintro -world=empty "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\ArmA 2;Expansion;@ACEX;@ACE;@CBA;@ACEX_SM;@JayArma2Lib;@ACRE;@ACEX_USNavy"\ There's no spaces at all between the Semicolons I don't know why facepunch decided to add one World=Empty makes the background maps at your main menu and shit just a shallow ocean of nothing but water. Makes loading up MUCH faster, and exiting back to the main menu after leaving a 3 hour online session is instant instead of loading another scene

The mod folders in your game directory, I'm sure you know how to enable those by enabling them through the target line in your shortcut's properties? At the end, you will add "-mod=@Thismod;@Thatmod;@Thatmod" the folder names of the mods, basically The -nosplash -skipintro -world=empty are just extras at the end of the line, before your -mod tagline, that skip the splash screens and Intro, and world=empty makes it so a scene in the background of your main menu does not load, so you load into the game, overall, much faster
I really have no idea what I do with any of this code
Right click Arrowhead on Steam, select properties and then set launch options. In there put:
-nosplash -mod=@ACEX;@ACE;@CBA;@ACEX_SM;@ACEX_USNavy;@ACEX_RU
I'd suggest you to make a separate mod folder for the tier one addon too, putting addons directly into the addons folder would most likely just cause problems later on. Ninja'd.

Mind you right now I am playing with tier one units completely removed right now, ACE seems to be the cause of the error
You have those extra folders in your game directory @ACE @ACEX @CBA etc Those are separate mod folders. One contains ACE, the other contains ACE Extras, the CBA is Community Base Addons. To enable them to work in-game, you need to modify your game's shortcut. Right click on your arma shortcut (Create one if there isn't one, you could use STEAM's but if you play on multiple servers, you can create multiple shortcuts so you don't have to keep editing the same target line) Right click it, click Properties. You should see the first line of editable text is the TARGET line. This points the shortcut to the game executable. After the quotation marks after arma2OA.exe, you'll add a single space, and the following: "-mod=@ACE;@ACEX;@CBA" Basically, every mod folder you have, that you want to run, each separated by a ; and without any spaces

Does it work WITHOUT any mods activated? If it does, then the order is wrong, Pretty sure the CBA should come after all of ACE, Also if you put the Tier 1 addon into your addons folder AND made a mod folder and activated that in the shortcut, it may conflict, though I'm not sure about that

I don't think the order actually matters, I've been throwing stuff there in very random orders since OFP and never had any problems regarding the load order.

Just to doublecheck does this tutorial: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1045249-Facepunch-Airsoft-Vidya-Game-Edition Show an up-to-date version of ACE?

If you run the tool again, it'll update the mod. What's the error that comes up when you try to launch the game with ACE?
Yes, six updater always downloads the latest version. If you run the tool again, it'll update the mod. What's the error that comes up when you try to launch the game with ACE?
Same one as before
Same one as before
That means the game is still not running as Combined Ops for some reason, you have to launch the game by right-clicking Arrowhead on steam and selecting Launch as combined ops, or something along those lines, I can't remember what it said exactly. If you're already doing that, then I don't really know whats the problem anymore. I bought both of them retail, so I didn't have to mess around with that.
It works fine when I run it in Combined Ops, I just don't want OA to be broken.
There is no reason at all to run normal OA if you have combined ops. Combined Ops is basically OA with all of the ARMA 2 content mounted in. You can get into all of the normal OA servers with Combined Ops. But if you STILL want to run normal OA, you have to find the CBA version that is meant for that, the one you're using currently is for combined ops.

I need the mods for the FP game but want to rack up some practice on some normal servers.

You basically duplicate the cmd file that launches combined ops and write the previous code in that new file, before renaming that file, right guys?
