ARMA 2: OA 1.60 RC2: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=128560 , note: A2 patch 1.11 RC2 must be extracted (7-zip) and run manually
Do we need 1.11 for ArmA2 patched aswell if we run a combined ops setup? Or are their not any data fixes to worry about, because I play alot of Chernorus.
yes beta still allows you to use mods
there is a horrible respawn bug that has been in the beta for ages and hasnt been fixed if your not already running it i would avoid for that reason
Fox, wasn't there already a PMC Somalia map for ArmA 2?

answer is yes, because A2 data were patched (there was also change from RC1 to RC2 so must be reapplied)

I doubt it was ever finished and currently it's something like blocks of identical houses with some roads going between them at parts.
dwarden do you know why the beta distributed by SU still hasnt been updated?
So apparently in ARMA 3 you can use java for scripting. They are testing it in Take on Helicopters now.

Which is awesome, I hate the current syntax.

well SQS, SQM, FSM are still supported for compatibility reasons
also what's to hate on the syntax, it's similar to C++
i friggin love java
will it be more easy on the server compared to the current syntax?
minecraft in arma3
Been building missions using Invasion 1944. It's pretty cool, except the weapon accuracy seems to be complete shit. I know the vanilla weapons are way too accurate, but this is near impossible.

Why not implement a more lightweight language like Lua?
Why not implement a more lightweight language like Lua?
I'm pretty sure Java is WAY faster if implemented right.
>Implying Lua isn't fast enough for this task
There is no such thing as "fast enough", the faster it is the better in this case. Most of the bigger missions are heavy because of all the scripts running in the background.

Then why'd you even bother with java, write it in assembly directly!

Because who the hell would want to script missions in assembly? :downs:
Java is faster and pretty much as easy to learn and use as Lua.

I know both, and i'd say Lua is easier.
Java is way more better choice as it's widely used across all platforms (plenty of people know it)
and it's faster :) (guess that counts too) plus not to mention Java has several nice bonuses You can't achieve with Lua ... ;)

It's also a more difficult language to learn, further compounding how hard it is to already make a decent mission with scripted events.
java is not difficult

why yo u do dat

I've used both and I can't see how Java would be any more difficult. On top of that Java is used pretty much everywhere, so there's shitloads of documentation about it. If you ever run into a problem it's pretty likely that you can find the solution just by googling it.

Also being able to use Eclipse for scripting ARMA missions = awesome.
So, I bought cold war assault. The Resistance campaign seems to have some small differences from the original OFP's Resistance campaign, like small extended objectives in that I don't remember doing before.

Never said that it was difficult
We need to have another facepunch game soon
So have anyone tried the PR mod for ARMA 2 and any comments on it?
