Imagine the gameplay of ARMA with the graphics and destructibility of BF3's Frostbite 2 engine... *drool*
1 FPS. ArmA 2 doesn't need more destructability.
Except the destructibility aspect of BF3 is wayyyy fucking overboard
Except it's wayyyy more fucking fun than ArmA 2's destruction.
Except it's wayyyy more fucking fun than ArmA 2's destruction.
arma2 isn't meant to be as arcadey as bf3 is
I got a question. I play arma I play artillery and i shoot the cannon it barely arcs, does this happen to arma 2?
I got a question. The artillery does arc, but it's fairly realistic- you have to aim waaaay up.

the closer something is the, the higher you aim, atleast for mortars the arty computer in ArmA has a minimum range and a maximum range though, you should see 2 blue circles, one will be rather close and that will be your minimum range, the other will be further away and will be your maxium range, you have to hit somewhere in between those 2 circles
ohhhh ok arty in arma 1 is a pain
skip to around 1:20 for the arty computer, it's really quite fun i was playing on the XR DAO server when they had the arty computer enabled one day and i just sat with a MLRS and a ammo truck right next to me firing off an infinite amount of rockets one after another all over the map and racked up so many kills
arma2 isn't meant to be as arcadey as bf3 is
Maybe not, but ArmA 2's destruction is exaggerated too yet it doesn't even look good. I can destroy a building with just a few shots of HE rounds from an APC and it just collapses like it was made out of dried up mud.

arma's destruction works well enough for what it does, buildings and vehicles might only have 2 or 3 damage states but atleast the debris doesnt magically vanish so you can still use it as cover
ya until you get glitched into the debirs and are stuck
I'll definitely be picking up the free version when it's released. Can anyone give me an estimate of the download size? My internet connection is quite limited where I live..
ArmA's destruction isn't even realistic
So? Neither is Frostbite's I'd rather have limited/pre-fab destruction that functions smoothly in MP than I would have laggy full destruction that happens from magdumping a 5.56 rifle into a concrete wall a foot thick (which is ridiculous, and it's highly likely that despite all the hype, the MP aspect of BF3's destruction will be toned down considerably to compensate for lag/desync) I'm not against having destruction, it would be cool, but let's first see it demonstrated in A) realistic manner B) in a live multiplayer game with a significant amount of players without creating a large amount of server stress/lag

I'm working on a new mission, or well, it's more of a mission framework for now. I'm making a system where each task is done inside a single .sqf file, and the framework randomly runs one of these files at a time. So in theory people could just make small tasks for the mission, like destroying a convoy, assassinating someone or clearing a town of enemies, and send them to me so I can easily compile them into a single mission. There will be a central base somewhere on the map where everyone will spawn, it'll have all kinds of vehicles and gear. Then the mission will select a random task from the task pool and spawn all the units, add all the markers etc. that are defined in the task file. It will wait until the task is complete and then select the next random task and keep going until all the tasks are done. Sounds good? Any suggestions on what to add?
I'm playing TFOR pretty often and mostly act as pilot, and the AI is getting on my nerves. It's pretty sad to get shot down the sky just because my gunner didn't see the enemy infantry with AA THAT I HELD DIRECTLY UNDER HIS CROSSHAIR. Enemies see me one click away, whereas my gunner sometimes doesn't even realize the ones 100 meters in front of us, despite him being able to use thermal vision. Is there mod to fix up the 'awareness' of the AI on your side? Unrelated to this: Last time I got shot down by an AA rocket but not because I didn't release countermeasures in time, but simply because they don't work when you have your map open. Goood, I love this game.
I have a really annoying problem with my ArmA 2 OA. When I try to join some of my favorite servers I get a blank lobby then get disconnected with the message "bad cd key" about 30 seconds later. I've tried multiple and multiple fixes but I get nothing. Please help.

Or if you bought it from Steam try to run the game in admin mode.

I've heard Render-To-Texture has been confirmed to be in ARMA3. Yessssssss!

Hope you all enjoyed the mission last night, we should have fun with rautas whenever it's finished :v:
DLC was stupid and the majority of servers don't allow mods anyway
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm a derp.
Having fun with the A-10. Dive bombing buildings and vehicles is fun as hell, if difficult. Now I want a Stukka.
Game in 30 minutes, be ready. You'll need this: http://www.telefonica.net/web2/mandoble/script_mando_missile_arma_for_a2_24b97_mandoble.zip [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] We need some good pilots for this, we have two. We need two more, anyone up for it?
