double time suggested because not all fixed in netcode were possible transit to ARMA 2
so OA has now really many improvements over old A2
Would it be better to buy OA or Arma II?
Combined Operations (that's both games in one).
But if you absolutely HAVE to pick just one, OA, but be aware you'll have trouble connecting to MP servers as the majority is running Combined Ops.

No one referred to it as beta, it was 1.0. Just had separate release dates for EU and NA.
It shipped in NA a couple of weeks later.
