Iirc there was even controversy when chechen rebel units for ARMA 2 came out because people didn't like the idea that you could play as chechens killing russians :v: It's such a sore spot for russians.
Nah, it's played from a fairly neutral point of view (beyond the usual 'kill those rebel scum' comments from drivers, etc.)

You become quite endeared to your platoon -A death actually feels quite bad
The missions are short enough that they feel like a tactical puzzle, I finished the first one no casualties first time but the second one I had to re-do to get the same result, first time got caught out on a hill overlooking my objective and some machinegunners hiding in opaque forest opened up

since OA 1.60 the engine detects A2 automatically (in case of STEAM / Desura You need to run ARMA 2 once prior using OA)

Anyone know why this isn't working? I installed the PROFAN and PROFAN_EXTRAS mods from his server through addon sync, and the first bit, -mod=%arma2dir%;Expansion; is for CO to work, as I have OA from steam and Arma2 from capsule. I can't join the server everyone is on, it says I am missing files.

And then when the game launches it instantly crashes with ARMA2 REINFORCEMENTS HAS STOPPED RESPONDING.
It's not loading arma 2 - you have to replace %arma2dir% with your actual arma 2 directory
Isn't %arma2dir% handled by the Combined Operations batch file by finding the path in the registry? You could either copy that or specify the whole path instead of %arma2dir% (And if you do, don't forget to enclose it in quotes)

It's because you're using CBA for combined operations but running only OA
Ok, launching now.
So I downloaded ArmA 2: Free to try it out, and it seems like a ton of fun. But I keep getting this weird stuttering kinda thing where the game goes from a stead 50-60 fps and then just freezes up for a bit, then back to the steady FPS, and so on and so on. Is this a common thing or what?
