Well yeah, if I need to I'll hipfire. It's not like I'm going to stubbornly iron sight when a gorefast is right infront of me. Farm's limited foggy view compared to it's size, and the way the fov works (The fog is less around the edges of you screen, so you can see farther in each corner. This means that you either knowledgably don't use this advantage, or constantly move around trying to view things, creating tunnel vision.) doesn't exactly help there.
well... less you practice, more you'll end up hitting their upper chest, and they won't instantly drop
well... less you practice, more you'll end up hitting their upper chest, and they won't instantly drop
True. I already aim to their head before zooming anyway.
It's really surprising how well this game teaches you good aim even when you have no crosshair and don't use iron sights. With demo, support and commando I hipfire 90% of the time and am still very accurate, I even pull off many headshots like that. For the sharpshooter I still use iron sights most of the time, except when I'm getting surrounded or for shooting crawlers since they die from a single shot with most sharpshooter weapons no matter where you hit them.
Why do i have a feeling that heads in KF are easier to shoot than other FPS games?
I feel the same way but i couldnt tell you.
Hey guys, Lolkork's server is working. GET IN HERE YOU PLONKERS well fuck nevermind someone else tried to join and everything crashed. thanks
Just basically solo'd wave 10 long/hard after the rest of the team got wiped out. Loadout was 1 .44 and an xbow, and later I picked up fallen teammates' 9mm and a katana. Was doing so well, killed a fuckton of scrakes, about 4 fleshies and by about 80 left I had virtually no ammo so I had to smash them in with the katana, reserving the last six round in my revolver and the 4 xbow bolts for fleshpounds, though I didn't encounter any after ~100 left. By about 50 I'd found some more ammo. 27 kills away from victory I ran to the middle park with the benches, got shot to shit by 2 or 3 husks from the treeline while the surrounding specimens started closing in. Fucking husks. [editline]14th December 2011[/editline] Anyone gonna join the killing trail? [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
So I gave the old KF mods a try, Version 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5 2.5 is the final version with the KF-Wiki entry 2.0 is overall the same but... different, there's no flashlight, for example. The specimens can be decapitated by a single shot and they're like super chicken, they don't lose health with their heads missing. There are neither ironsights nor crosshair. 1.0 is the most interesting because it has a singleplayer story mode, the graphics are really dark and gritty, something I wish the retail version looked like TBH.
Which one's the one with that old west map with the saloons and the barns and shit? It was the same version in which the Bullpup had the shitty aimpoint sight rather than a Holographic one. IIRC the M9 did have a flashlight, but not sure about the shotgun. All the core maps were there (Manor, Biolab, offices, london)
Why do i have a feeling that heads in KF are easier to shoot than other FPS games?
hitboxes and the fact that the enemies move slow and the game sort of trains you to shoot heads. and you don't have to worry about return fire.
Wrote a list of console commands I know / found. Useful if you want to fuck around with the Console. http://pastebin.com/Bq5mvmED Doesn't look so good without proper formatting though.

Question before I run around in KF: Can you still earn xp playing by yourself? I have around 2.8mil fire damage and I can never tell if I'm earning anything or not since its so goddamn high.
You can but I'm very sure you won't gain nearly as much xp as if you were playing with others unless you use the fakeplayers mutator.
They seriously need to bring back the singeplayer story mode, it seems so much more interesting. Not that the retail version isn't.
can someone say where the servers are? europe america that stuff
What's a good perk for a beginner to use? Commando?
Check out the OP, I told you I'd make it better. [sub][sub]Not doing college work[/sub][/sub]
I only hipfire when I use the MP5, makes me feel like a badass.
They don't really. The M14 is weak as shit and the handcannon is the size of a trash lorry, making it hard to aim - plus the recoil is awful. The Xbow and LAR are okay though, I guess.
fuck me, do you even know what you're talking about? [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
M14 is great is you use the laser sight but it has the worst fucking ironsights ever, and the handcannons are worthless now that we have the 44s. LAR is the best sharpie weapon though, no doubt.
you too [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
Default 1 9mm Tactical : 0 Kg Dual 9mm Tactical: 4 Kg :downs: [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
it's 4kg for balance, cause they can't give you an undroppable gun with 2kg (i know thats sort of flawed) [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
Take a .44, it's cheaper and only weighs 2.
take a fucking handcannon
I just noticed I have killed enough stalkers for perk 5 commando but I'm only perk 1 because of damage. Time to start packing assault rifles.
fuck me, do you even know what you're talking about?
That was just my opinion, I personally think the M14 is rather weak, even when using the RDS and getting headshots, for a slot 4 weapon it feels like a semi-automatic LAR with slightly less firing power. Again, personal use on the weapons but I just don't like the Handcannon a lot.
While we're talking about opinions, any opinions on a good perk to start as?
Okay, someone try to connect to the server please.
I'm in.
guys, let's get some sense into this thread handcannon > .44 magnum for sharpshooter. ALWAYS. more damage, larger magazine size. M14 is amazing still... takes large specimens out like it's no one's business, more DPS AND it costs less than a crossbow when a level 6 SS. [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
What's a good perk for a beginner to use? Commando?
sharpshooter/medic/zerker be SURE to play on easy/normal though
While we're talking about opinions, any opinions on a good perk to start as?
Support Special. Shotguns will keep you alive and the normal shotgun and combat shotgun both have flashlights which help the entire team in a dark area as most people will not pull out the 9mm instead of packing something they get benefits for using. Teams will love you for keeping welds on doors and extra carry weight is a beautiful thing not to mention grenade bonuses out the ass. Pro tip for door welding, if you cut it open before the zeds bust it open the door will just swing open instead of breaking. Two grenades will also break a welded door down for quick escape but forget it when you reach higher perk levels as unwelding at the speed of light is pretty much awesome. If you feel like it carry something in case you're stuck with someone without ammo. I usually carry a katana or a .44 in case a Demo or Shapshooter runs dry mid-wave. Also machete master race. Best weapon in the game.

I found medic easier, since the armor bonus kept me alive long enough to learn to kill stuff, and no perk bonuses on weapons forced me to learn to shoot efficiently. Only thing is that movement and health bonus grows on you.

No shame in filling ammo from boxes around the map if there's no Demomen in sight though. It certainly is one of those perks that take a while to get good unfortunately.
While we're talking about opinions, any opinions on a good perk to start as?
I started off as a Commando, playing solo on Easy until I got a feel for the game. It taught me how to score a headshot via bullets being fucking everywhere.
