thread needs more attention. :saddowns:
For all those people out there who want more opposing force, there's always this! Based on the thought that you haven't already heard of it; http://www.moddb.com/mods/opposing-force-2 I've been watching the progress for 2 years now, and it's looking pretty good. Yes it's a mod, but with all the work put into it, it's a diamond. You won't be disappointed.
Please spread the word: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1153028
Wasn't the idea of this just meant to be a joke? Sigh. Why don't you guys wait until we see if there's anything at E3 at least? Be patient. When they want to show it, they'll show it. No amount of pestering has ever accomplished a reveal, and it never will. That's not to say they won't acknowledge it. They might give a friendly reply, but don't expect much more.

They already know that the community is desperate for it, but they want to show it when they are fully prepared to. Although I can see some potential for something weirdly creative coming out of it, so I guess it's not entirely pointless. We shall see.

Guys, VALVe won't show anything at CES, they have only ever gone there to display technology, and this year it is based around steam's new "Big Picture mode"; Last year it was Intel's Sandy Bridge.
To be fair e3 is half a year away, a long time I think
True, but it's nothing compared to how long we've been waiting. It could be just the final stretch.
I forgot about CES I'm looking forward to seeing what Big Picture mode looks like in action.
What if they show a clip of Episode 3 to show the Big Picture mode in action.
What if they show a clip of Episode 3 to show the Big Picture mode in action.
"and to help us unveil our new Big Picture mode we will be using all new footage from an upcoming game" and then...trailer
"and to help us unveil our new Big Picture mode we will be using all new footage from an upcoming game" and then...trailer
Crap pants.
Can anyone explain what big picture mode is? It seems like it won't be that crazy, just making steam more friendly for big tv screens or something...I don't get it
i think it will be streaming the output from your pc to a display with network-connection. or steamintegration in some new LCD/LED - TVs
That 2nd one would be so fucking cool, streaming output directly to the TV or to a console?
That 2nd one would be so fucking cool, streaming output directly to the TV or to a console?
dont know, just interpreting the information given on the internet.
dont know, just interpreting the information given on the internet.
So confusing, I guess we shall see in due time
Next E3 at the soonest.
I don't know if Valve will attend E3 or if they do will they be showing hl3/ep3..
its the fans that have said it will be e3, and your all getting yourselfs excited for it, so wait for an official "valve will be presenting at E3" before you get excited for nothing

People sure like to talk about nothing.
In a thread titled "Half Life 3 general discussion", there isn't a whole heck of a lot to talk about...
We can only practically discuss what we think may happen, what we know and what we wish to happen.
So... Erhm. I bet they're going to maybe visit some of the areas from the HL2 Beta, not the cut ones, though. I was thinking maybe a proper look at the wastelands or something. Okay that wasn't worded correctly. I want them to have to venture through some areas that were previously in the Beta, maybe one of the factories for cremators without the children.
Honestly what I hope for most, and I know this unlikely is a really vigorous rewriting of the source engine making it much more dynamic and interactive. Along with more interactivity. You know how HL2 is known for how it have actual weight in materials like metal and glass and wood? I want them to go deeper to define multiple metals and glass, etc, to some extent. Maybe even have a system of bullet holes, bullets cratering walls to a limited amount, etc. Maybe even terrain changing to some extent. Basically, a system that works even FURTHER on the small details and makes them much more there than any other game. The fighting and everything will stay the same, it'd be fucked up and wrong to change that.

Only locale from the beta that most likely will be used is Arctic base.
