Don't see whats wrong with the current system if they manage to update it. Though maybe.
GMod has shown one can do so much with it, including terrain editing. Why not use that to the fullest advantage? Hell, even have that system like in far cry 1 where explosions dent the ground a little.
-snip, posted this in the wrong thread like an idiot-
I wish shit like Pulse-rifles would leave smoking holes in victims.
And the stronger Combine forces, the white ones, getting black smokey spots when you fire pulse rifle at them, maybe body pulverization/dismemberment and that would be AWESOME.

Realistically it already does this due to it shooting plasma bolts at its victim, instantly cauterizing the wound. But tis Source, so it's treated as a typical bullet type. That'd be neat to see though :v:

Would be amazing to see a bleed mod on HL which actually takes that into consideration.

Having the game be similar to Half-life in terms of blood and stuff (Although not exploding all the time) would be great. The HL2 setting and story is actually really Dark, but it doesn't seem like it right now unless you look closely.

ITS A FLESH WOUND
I know this is not new, but I think that the helicopter would be to go to Kraken Base, then take a ship and travel to the Artic.
I can imagine that at the start of Episode 3, Gordon is sleeping and we can see his first dream in a long time: a nutshell of the Half-Life saga with GMan and the helicopter travel to Kraken Base. The dream will have some creepy bizarre moments that later would have some relevance (in a bad way, remember what Gabe said about making Half-Life scary again?). Then the game starts properly by Gordon waking up. He founds Alyx and she talks with him.

I would think instead of sleeping, he would be in deep shock from the events that had happened and the gman is rephrasing considering the vortigaunts aren't really there and it doesn't interfear with his "heart-to-heart"

Just some pointless nitpicking here, but if I recall correctly, Kraken Base WAS located in the arctic. But the manner of how you reached it was, coincidentally, by using a submarine from the Borealis.

I wouldnt be so sure about it. I mean, they can change where Kraken Base could be and no one would be surprised. But now that you said that, it would have sense, that they have a base on the Artic.
If there is going to be a Kraken Base, of course.
I can't imagine Gman role in Episode 3 and how the game is going to connect to HL3.
I hope to fuck EP3 is really long, because I plan making a complete play through beginning to finish of the game. Only editing out the unneeded bits.
I'll hopefully be able to upload it in a timely fashion.

If you remember, you could see through the window (and through the hole in the wall that the Combine blow) that it was snowing, and the outside looked much like an arctic landscape. I'd imagine she's probably at Kraken Base (or what would probably be considered the retail version of it).
Y'know what I really wanna see? A really cool introduction for Episode 3. Like, you get on the helicopter and you're in the backseat looking out the side of the helicopter as Alyx talks to you. The helicopter would fly over a bunch of cool shit, like C16/8, whichever one is closest to C17, and see that's still in the middle of a rebellion, or you'll get to see a bunch of weird alien wildlife, or maybe even see the tentacles from Half Life 1 rise out of the ground and try to swipe at your helicopter. Yeah, it'd be pretty awesome.
I'd like to see my legs beneath me.
And these features:

While awesome, I doubt we'd get to see it since the Borealis is waaaaaaaaaay in the northern arctic regions. Though maybe we'd get to see it then a 'rest period', skipping the majority of the boring ride over water. I figure after Gordon blacked out that he'd wake up half-way there.

Why?

Something similar to Left 4 Dead 1 would be a cool feature, in my opinion. Adds immersion. Then again, crawling through vents and such would seem awkward scale-wise.

makes you feel more into it when you look down and don't see that you're floating due to magic.
Anyone see the Alien Swarm lithograph? Coffee cup with a lambda on it, and a reflection of something on it.
Probably nothing. Actually, rephrase that, most likely 99.9% nothing.
EDIT: Actually, it might be from last year. - Yep. From October. Oh well. :q

I was more thinking like AFTER they've finished with Eli first and then continue over to the chopper, I wonder if valve will be implanting preload maps or bigger maps into the engine so it doesn't go "loading" every 10 seconds and there will be probably side quest things to do like refueling it or scavenging for ammo or new weapons.
Can I get a consensus: did the Gman cause the server crash in Black Mesa? And what was its point? To spread the atmosphere of general clusterfuckery for the day before the Incident?

Most likely due to Black Mesa generally being poorly maintained and many areas run down. The equipment being used for the test wasn't even meant to do what they were making it do.
Or it was just one of those days.
I like to think that the GMan purposely caused all that so the scientists and different departments couldn't intercommunicate (some might have figured out that the Crystal was dangerous and if the coms were up GMan's plan would've failed)
I don't want to start this image analyzes bullshit again but I was going through the valve merch store to find some posters and I found this

I wonder if they're purposely putting half life symbols into pictures just to roll us.

Yeah, that's the lithograph I was talking about it.It's just a lambda, but do you notice the reflection? Looks like a soldier, sort of.
