Okay seriously now someone please close this thread. I know non-OP aren't supposed to ask but for the love of God can't you see this thread falling apart? Where's Postal when you need him???
I'm really hoping for some Portal easter eggs in the next installment. It'd be neat to have the crossovers in both games. Nothing specific, or even related to the story, but finding like blueprints to GlaDOS in the Borealis, or something similar would be pretty awesome.
this thread gives me depression
I don't get it, if people don't like the thread, why enter and post in here? Just go do something else, instead of wasting your time.

What if Valve made a new title canon to the HL2 story? Like what Gearbox did with BlueShift and Opposing Force? What if you played the role of a rebel from the beginning of Hl2, to the end of Ep2?

I don't think it'd be good to have more than two, and even that's pushing it. Parallel storylines can't run side by side for too long without it just becoming boring.
MAYBE Alyx? Alyx before Gordon Freeman, a major rebel, Barney, and Adrian possibly could make 4 games.
Marc Laidlaw stated in one of his emails tha idea of Alyx as a playable character would never work edit: thanks for the source, bro below
MAYBE Alyx? Alyx before Gordon Freeman, a major rebel, Barney, and Adrian possibly could make 4 games.
"I personally don't see how that would work. Alyx is a creation of animation and audio. If you were to play Alyx, you wouldn't see any of her animations, and her motivations are (I think) more interesting when they are her own, and somewhat mysterious. But perhaps there would be some way to do this." That what Laidlaw thinks about a playable Alyx. And i have to agree with him
I'd like to see Adrian Shephard's return in a future title, maybe showing what happened to the HECU/military during the Seven Hour War or the HL2 era assuming that he reunites with them in the new title.
afaik some of the rebels could BE HECU/Military, just not in standard uniform anymore. That's how I like to look at it anyway, they and civilians group up after the dust of the 7Hr war settles and teach one another how to live and defend themselves in the new world. :v:
MAYBE Alyx? Alyx before Gordon Freeman, a major rebel, Barney, and Adrian possibly could make 4 games.
Griggs & Sheckley to the rescue.
I liked them with personality, I don't think it should be any character we know of, because it'd take away from their personality too much and just make them seem like another set of arms with a camera between.
Vortigaunt + headcrab. What do?
Griggs & Sheckley to the rescue.
Co-op.
Vortigaunt + headcrab.
That'd be pretty awesome, actually.
Vortigaunt + headcrab.
I REALLY want to see that and the Gonome in the next game..
Vortigaunt + headcrab.
Reminds me of Munch's Oddysee
I liked them with personality, I don't think it should be any character we know of, because it'd take away from their personality too much and just make them seem like another set of arms with a camera between.
This is exactly what I think. For example, if Half-Life was ever to become a movie I don't think any of the characters in the current series could possibly be in the movie. I think it would work only as a citizen, rebel or metrocop just trying to survive until the end of the day. With only brief mentions of Gordon or the rest of the gang, such as Kleiner.
I've always liked the concept of parallel stories, it gives a feel of depth, more room to expand. For a literature class I wrote a series that switched between two characters in the same world but with different stories. It was well liked.
That'd be pretty awesome, actually.
We can atleast expect something new, valve introduces a new enemy each game.
I think it could be an interesting concept to have some of the events of the HL2 Beta unfold during the City 17 uprising in HL2 retail. I mean, there could definitely be locations from the Beta that we didn't visit in the universe, such as the AirExchange plant, or the Gunship factory. Possibly even the vast empty ocean floor outlands with the depot. I'd love to see more of the universe from other perspectives.
Vortigaunt + headcrab.
This, Valve. THIS. Since HL2 got released I've been thinkg how cool would it be to fight a zombified vortigaunt, capable of still using its powers (to some degree)
Don't you think since vortigaunts can "look after" each other with powers like GMAN, they could handle a simple headcrab? Maybe they are supposed immune to the headcrab's ways since they were relatively close to each other's main planets or maybe the headcrab can't get the required nutritional needs from a vortigaunt host... we will never know I guess unless valve does do it. I have to say though, it would be cool and weird to encounter one. EDIT: This just in, GMAN is a exile shape-shifting vortigaunt! Just kidding, but still....

Or they are stripped/limited of their abilities by the Combine and then a Headcrab is coupled with it, like they were when the Nihilant controlled them with harnesses
What about a Gman zombie with time stopping Powers?
