I still have this feeling in my gut that the G-Man's employers are secretly the Combine in some form.
How much do you want to bet that Valve is re-polishing Episodes 1 and 2 into a full Half Life 3? actually not a lot from me
Gman is employed by humans who are at higher technology levels than us, or from... THE FUTURE
I still have this feeling in my gut that the G-Man's employers are secretly the Combine in some form.
Have you played HL1-2? That would make no sense at all.
Have you played HL1-2? That would make no sense at all.
Insurance fraud. "The humans DESTROYED my citadel .... I need money to replace it"
Insurance fraud. "The humans DESTROYED my citadel .... I need money to replace it"
So GMan is a gigantic troll and nothing else?
Insurance fraud. "The humans DESTROYED my citadel .... I need money to replace it"
It's MY money, and I need it NOW!
In Episode Two, he says [sp]"...see her safely to White Forest, Dr. Freeman. I wish I could do more than keep an eye on you. But I've agreed to abide by certain...restrictions..."[/sp] Sounds like he kinda wants to help, at least that's the impression I always get from that scene.
Maybe his "employers" are restricting him. 0:46 I wonder who his employers are.
They're probably some kind of incomprehensible Lovecraftian kind of beings that'll drive mortals insane if they see them. Or just fry their face.
Maybe his "employers" are restricting him.
At the risk of sounding condescending, yeah, that's kinda what is implied.
Maybe his "employers" are restricting him. 0:46 I wonder who his employers are.
yea it in hl2 to And maybe he can tells the course of... hes not liberty to say. they employers doesnt let him say that?
John asked about Episode 3 on New Years. Here's what he got:
John says: Yes, I talked to a couple of people at the party but sadly still no word. Sorry, wish I had more news. Alex says: What do you mean? did they just say nothing when you asked or “I can’t say” John says: Neither one. They can be wonderfully vague. I think that’s one of their talents. They just went off in other directions and kind of didn’t answer. So I don’t know what that means. At this point in time they are completely caught up in DOTA 2, which I think is going to be pretty huge. They know the fans are interested in a new HL episode. I guess we’ll just have to see what they do. I won’t know until they call me in for something. That’s life in show biz!
Bad news?

I think that Gman will help out a bit more this episode because there won't be no damn vortigaunts.
I think that Gman will help out a bit more this episode because there won't be no damn vortigaunts.
How do you know?
How do you know?
I don't know, but I have a theory that there won't be any votigaunts in the arctic.
I don't know, but I have a theory that there won't be any votigaunts in the arctic.
If Mossman was there, then I bet some vorts followed.

Then again, it does sound like he wants to help out in some way. I need to play ep2 again. Can't think of why he would want to do this. Maybe a plot for a coup?
Have you played HL1-2? That would make no sense at all.
I'm pretty sure I've said this before (and I think I actually got rated dumb for it, so if this does sound retarded to you then sorry), but remember when you're up in Breen's office in the Citadel? At 3:13: "... And this one has proven to be a fine pawn for those who control him. How about it, Doctor Freeman? Did you realize your contract was open to the highest bidder?" Who does Gordon work for in HL2(kind of)? The G-Man. How do we know that Breen didn't pay the G-Man for Gordon's "assistance?" He could have had Gordon accomplish certain victories (most notably at Nova Prospekt), and make the resistance reveal itself in full force to make it easier for the Combine to finally crush once and for all. After all, hadn't the Resistance been a rather annoying thorn in Breen and the Combine's side for a while before Gordon showed up? The only flaw I've found in this theory of mine is this: The G-Man doesn't seem at all peeved by the end of Half-Life 2 that you've managed to kill off Breen and somewhat thwart the plans of the Combine. You would think he'd be pretty pissed off that you screwed over his employers, if they really were the Combine. He only really seems to get annoyed once the Vortigaunts interfere and pull you from his grasp. Maybe I'm just shooting shit out my ass, but for some reason, what Breen said seems to really interest me.
Wouldn't surprise me if they were indeed at work on HL3, there's just too little activity coming out lately for a studio that has 250 employees
Wouldn't surprise me if they were indeed at work on HL3, there's just too little activity coming out lately for a studio that has 250 employees
They've been at work on it since Ep2. But they're very hush-hush on the progress, because they can.
Valve has over 300 developers. Its probably on going just a super secret and they want us to think there not doing anything.

Gman could possibly not give a damn about squabbles among humans, as it's clear he isn't totally human. Perhaps someone paid a high price to see Breen bite the dust and Gman decided 'hey if the money fits'. Like Breen said, Gordon's contract was open to the highest bidder. Someone probably offered more to turn Gman's attention. Business for you. The whole Vortigaunt thing, however, was probably never part of any deal which would no doubt piss him off. It's like you've finished a job but suddenly two burly men show up and stop you from going anywhere, denying you payment. You'd be mad. Not only that, but its two burly men with time-space manipulation. Sort of like two Dr. Manhattans in your face. (Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't see Watchmen)
advisors oh god a new theory
Wouldn't call it "new"
Wouldn't call it "new"
oh no
I think that there must be something not quite human about Gordon Freeman that the G-Man or other beings in the universe sense. The GMan must've known back in Black Mesa when he gave the scientists the Xen crystal that Gordon Freeman was going to go and break control of Nihilanth by the combine. They could be developing it with a small team on a longer time scale, to try and reduce the chances of it being leaked.

Wouldn't want another Beta incident, right? I hope they're doing a lot of what they did in HL2Beta, that has pretty amazing concepts in it.. [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] plus, they haven't updated source in a hell of a long time.
I think valve was going to have Breen in ep3, in another form or such. As in the beta he was supposed to get another form, and that discussion with the advisor that he needs another body so he could survive in the Overworld. But his voice actor is dead so..
You know, I have some form of doubt breen died, just a little. Though, if he is alive, what happened?
There was an idea floating about back when Episodes One and Two were released, in that [sp]Breen's mind was transported into the advisor that psychically attacks Gordon and Alyx in Ep1, and the advisor that physically attacks Gordon and Alyx in Ep2.[/sp]
