When did that happen? That's a shame
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/03/actor-robert-culp-dies-after-falling-at-his-hollywood-home.html
When EP2 released, I was short on money and didn't buy it until later. But I was so anxious to know something about the game that I checked the half-life wikia. And then I saw the vortigaunts listed as enemies and I went apeshit, like if I had spoiled myself the game. That was 10 seconds until I realised they were enemies in Half-Life 1. But it would be cool if the vorts were evil all along and showed their real intentions in episode 3, and you get to fight them.
Didn't they become the humans' friends after they were enslaved by the combine?
Maybe for convenience, also, a lot of xen creatures appeared on earth due to the portal storms. If Alien Controllers did come across, maybe they can turn the vorts against humans, and personally I think they are related in some way, judging by the third arm protruding from their chest. I don't know, they are just ideas, but I think it would be cool to fight them again, and unexpected too.

I really want to see HL1 races, though, controllers I think are all destroyed by now. After, wasn't Nihilanth the master controller? http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Nihilanth The Nihilanth wears metallic wristbands similar to bands worn by enslaved Vortigaunts, possibly indicating enslavement, likely by the Combine. http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Alien_Controller
Hello, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gj-fnbk6f4 Dafuq.
I was about to write a post about Nihilanth controlling the controllers and the controllers controlling the Vortigaunts, but then I realised, if the controllers controlled the Vortigaunts, then why did the Vortigaunts also need those combine slave bands. Perhaps they were controlled, but still needed the slave bands because they're clearly quite intelligent creatures? [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] I like to think I know what's going on in the Half Life story, because eventually Episode 3 may or may not get released and is hopefully going to actually blow my mind.
again i have to say this, why would the combine promote the man who couldnt control earth into an advisor? even if he did "teleported" into the overworld hed probably be in a low if not the same rank rather than an all powerful advisor
HL2 mentions getting him a Host body. It is unlikely that Advisors evolved into what they currently are, and is possible they are host bodies.
Hello, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gj-fnbk6f4 Dafuq.
lol.
HL2 mentions getting him a Host body. It is unlikely that Advisors evolved into what they currently are, and is possible they are host bodies.
Considering that the combine are just that, it's not unlikely that advisors could be hosts to other collaborators from other species conquered by the combine.
Considering that the combine are just that, it's not unlikely that advisors could be hosts to other collaborators from other species conquered by the combine.
The name Advisor suggests they aren't the ones leading the Combine, so that is possible instead of them being hosts to the original species.
Hello, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gj-fnbk6f4 Dafuq.
Fuck you, now I can't stop listening. :argh:
Nightlord and The Dood are both very right, and I can see it being true.
Vortigaunts turning on humans isn't actually out of question. Even though they cooperate with freeman, they still show some reluctance for him. Probably because he murdered half of their fucking race.
I don't think the Vortigaunts are on anyones "side", not willingly anyway
I don't think the Vortigaunts are on anyones "side", not willingly anyway
I found this while browsing the wiki: http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/All-Knowing_Vortigaunt I decided to check it out for myself (as well as get the achievement) The vortigaunt had many interesting lines, and many of which support your conclusion, as well as involvement/acknowledgement of the g-man. however they are cryptic and hard to actually understand. unrelated, found this, thought it was interesting: http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Unidentified_deaf_character
Vortigaunts turning on humans isn't actually out of question. Even though they cooperate with freeman, they still show some reluctance for him. Probably because he murdered half of their fucking race.
It would completely change several things. In Half-life 1 they were enslaved, they were even wearing collars. In Half-life 2 they are free (except for the ones enslaved by the combine) and they have Gordon to Thank for that. Why would they have been wearing Collars and were being controlled in Half Life if they were evil all along?
Its possible the combine controlled the Nihilanth at one point before he escaped into Xen, hence the collars on him. Remember Xen is not the Vortigaunt and Nihilanth's home word, they ran there to hide from the Combine. (according to Marc Laidlaw that is, there isn't any mention of this in the games) [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] Halflife2.net had a forum thread with a bunch of quotes from Laidlaw, I don't know if it still exists.

I'm not sure if Valve is the sort of company that would hire another actor to voice such a critical character as Breen, and that's not an opinion - I honestly have no idea. If Valve wants to create a strong emotional response by bringing Breen back, he might appear as a tormented, demonic creature as the result of being placed in his host body. Or, it may be more (or less) provocative to simply show his body at the bottom of the Citadel. Or there could be no body. (Dun dun duun!) Basically, Valve can do whatever it wants, whenever it wants to. :\
^maybe less extreme, a combine or creature with his face would fit the best. Also on the vortigaunt speak, again i'd imagine if the combine enslaved the vortigaunts they may have tampered with some of them, like in Hl2 they converted humans.
Nihilanth was a resistance leader fighting against the Combine. The vortigaunts/alien grunts/controllers where is army. Xen was the "last stand". Suddenly humanity shows up opening a massive rift onto earth so Nihilanth uses it was a chance for escape.
But then we killed him. Gman works for the combine etc
what if at the end of episode 3 you see a combine soldier running towards you with a beer and you go to take the beer and he pulls of his mask and its breen and then breen says "time to die mr freeman" and stabs you in the leg and while fighting alyx you have to spam F to pull the knife out of your leg and then throw it at breen and it hits him in the eye and the game ends

Hell, even Nihilanth had an idea of who Gman was, as well as Gordon as he yells his name just before the big battle. It is possible Gman was employed by someone working for the Combine and he went along with it. Perhaps it was a cruel cosmic joke turned profitable when Gordon, some physicist in a hazard suit, rocks the alien forces and brings Xen under Combine rule (involuntarily). Did he really make it before the explosion? Was the purpose of Gordon's contract more "chase Breen out" instead of kill him? It's totally up for speculation at this point, but it'd make for a killer boss battle to fight Breen as some kind of mutated Combine Advisor.
Was the purpose of Gordon's contract more "chase Breen out" instead of kill him?
As evidenced by Episode 1's intro, his contract was to disable the combine portal in C17's Citadel. (This is later shown by the Combine attempting to open a new superportal to the combine overworld as the reactor core destabilises.)
I don't know about you guys, but i'm still waiting for the sequel of Opposing Force. I wonder if Adrian has been let out by Gman too.
I was thinking either a boss battle or something like a stalker: abandoned, tormented, and screaming at you. Screaming at you with lasers, of course. [editline]3th January 2012[/editline] Just thought of something. A stalker, writhing on the ground, shooting lasers at you on and off, like a trigger happy stormtrooper. Basically, a broken stalker. It probably wouldn't work though. I think using stalkers as a scare has run its course. [editline]3th January 2012[/editline] Unless you find a frozen one in or near the Borealis.
