Is this anything like the old Ancient World server? I really liked that minus the strange power-hungry owner who pretty much screwed up everything
Just finished this. You'll be able to spot Plum Grange from miles away now. [editline]16th January 2014[/editline] I've taken the liberty of setting up a mine in the Chesapeak mountains due west of me.
I've since written to the dev of our chat plugin about a global chat which one can toggle off. For the more RP orientated player.
server down?
Yeh, I have it down for the moment. We're having a debate! And now is the best time to do it. A lot of us think the map is too small. What do you think?
good i would love to see that ocean that supoce to be north of my base.
I'll leave this open to debate to the community before we get too invested in this one. Please have your say and we'll decide this time tomorrow! Either way the first Legendary quest begins on Saturay 22:00 GMT .. For now.. Zombie survival hell.
I recommend you add Mycelium in with your mushroom biome.
Are you going to re-export the whole map again?
The map was great, and I really liked the idea of certain regions having more to offer than others so players were encouraged to co-exist (being a farmer was rad). But I'd love a little more variety in biomes. I want to go south and find a huge desert, and a canyon. Then head north into the mountains and see the icy hills. Maybe make it so you need at least leather to be in the cold or else you'll take damage? Take a look at these here. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1090288-164-extrabiomesxl-3145/
Some problems I've had with the map/server include: -No slimes. (In caves, or in the mushroom forest thing. I also checked the swamp. Nothin.) -Absolutely no plants of any kind except mushrooms (I think, haven't tested) grow in the North. It'd be nice if only some did, and only with direct sunlight, but they don't. -The map is rather difficult to relate to the map on this thread. -The map also is kinda tricky to get ores from without finding a dungeon. I like this idea, but It sure does make it rough on the new guys. -One more thing about the map, it is fairly small, and it wouldn't hurt to make it a bit (or a lotta' bit) bigger. You did a great job on the map, but depending on the server pop. there might need to be more space. Just in case you really want to feel like a lone wolf out there in the icy mountains. -Also people be spammin' /me to talk to others/everyone on the server. For RP's sake you might want to find a good solution to this. That's pretty much all I've noticed so far, feel free to disagree.
I think the map is a little small. There should be an ocean 500-1000 blocks and then huge unclimble mountains that you can grow anything on
There should be an ocean 500-1000 blocks
No, people will go out and make under-water under-ground bases in the middle of the ocean.
No, people will go out and make under-water under-ground bases in the middle of the ocean.
Mybe a rule could be added to restrict players from underground/underwater bases
We're trying to keep it lore-friendly and medieval/renaissance aren't we?
i do like the map however i also feel it is pretty small, aside from that fact it seems the best areas and most easiest areas to build are based along the river which is where everyone is currently concentrating at it sort of seems a bit crowded as tinytank said a bit more variety in biomes would be pretty cool as well, and from memory there's a plugin somewhere that causes you to take damage from snow unless you're wearing a full set of armour
Something to look into certainly Raged. We can all agree the map is too small for our ambitions so I shall be spending tomorrow after work and into the night on the map. For now, the world is creative. (Best creations ''may'' make an appearance in future quests)
I think it'd be chill if you added some 'magical lore portals' that go into the nether, that is completely world-guarded and void, except for paths to more nether portals in different areas in the world, as a kind of fast-travel system. maybe 3-5 different locations, and then later you can have events in the nether where you build like a nether-island and have us fight or destroy different things. you could make nether-dungeons, etc. TL:DR if the nether isn't going to be open like vanilla, you should give it an alternate functionality.
Mybe a rule could be added to restrict players from underground/underwater bases
what's wrong with that?
It isn't part of the server's lore/role-play.
what's wrong with that?
Underground bases are fine for starting out, and are actually fine permanently, as long as you build over it, too, or if you're actually making a kind of dwarven settlement, but this server isn't meant to be 2b2t, pretty sure stillstanden wants to discourage remote, impossible to find PvP bases that'll never be seen on the map. It's to discourage anarchy playstyle, I doubt still standen intends for this to be anything like an anarchy server. Besides, it usually cheaters that do that kind of shit anyways.

what happened to the server?
Kittykathax- ''But I'd love a little more variety in biomes. I want to go south and find a huge desert, and a canyon.'' Well, the thing about that is for deserts to be any good they have to be massive in scale like you said. And they're often pretty useless and end up full of stonebrick squares and that grinds my gears. Same with canyon.. But I will see if I can fit something in along those lines. Ulriik- ''-No slimes. (In caves, or in the mushroom forest thing. I also checked the swamp. Nothin.)'' They were out there I seen em myself! -''Absolutely no plants of any kind except mushrooms (I think, haven't tested) grow in the North. It'd be nice if only some did, and only with direct sunlight, but they don't.'' Yep. The North is rich in minerals but not much else. A hard place for hardy people. Can't hack it then down south you swim! -''The map also is kinda tricky to get ores from without finding a dungeon. I like this idea, but It sure does make it rough on the new guys.'' If you're looking for an easy time you're in the wrong place! -''One more thing about the map, it is fairly small, and it wouldn't hurt to make it a bit (or a lotta' bit) bigger. You did a great job on the map, but depending on the server pop. there might need to be more space. Just in case you really want to feel like a lone wolf out there in the icy mountains.'' We agree completely and I'm working on that as we speak! -''Also people be spammin' /me to talk to others/everyone on the server. For RP's sake you might want to find a good solution to this. '' Yes, I'm actually in conversation with a dev for Faction Chat. I know him for a while now and we're coming up with a global chat which players can toggle off if they want to be hardcore role players. Which, i know, a lot of people actually will. Oab- ''Mybe a rule could be added to restrict players from underground/underwater bases '' - I don't want to be throwing rules around left right and center. Raged- ''the best areas and most easiest areas to build are based along the river which is where everyone is currently concentrating at it sort of seems a bit crowded'' - Yeh, we agree! The new map will have more hospitable valleys./regions. Soulhavester - ''I think it'd be chill if you added some 'magical lore portals' that go into the nether, that is completely world-guarded and void, except for paths to more nether portals in different areas in the world, as a kind of fast-travel system. maybe 3-5 different locations, and then later you can have events in the nether where you build like a nether-island and have us fight or destroy different things. you could make nether-dungeons, etc.'' - Cool idea, but right now our attention is on Farhuiin. The surface level. What you said is something we will consider! Fury McFlurry- ''what happened to the server?'' The map we were on was not ambitious enough. Too small. So we're working on a much better one. Untill the map is ready the server is in creative mode to allow players to build. I'll be saving the map so creations that have been built can be used at a later date. Maybe quests.. missions.. dungeons.. or just places of interest really. Also, after reading this. Is it possible to multiquote different people? If so explain please.
basically if you post several times uninterrupted it merges [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] like this
Also, after reading this. Is it possible to multiquote different people? that leaves a shitty edit tag every time though.
This is a very early layout concept of the map we're working on. Its come along by a few hours but I'm not one for spoilers..
are you going ahead with the extra biomes pack?
