A Nazi Zombies-like mode would be a pretty cool DLC.

Pretty much. It felt pretty sort considering I beat it in a single day taking around 8 hours.
Just finished reading Metro 2034. Great book. Not as good as Metro 2033, but still, fucking awesome. Both books:

Also, HUGE SPOILER ALERT FOR 2034. DON'T LOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK:
[sp]Artyom dies at the end of 2034[/sp]
I looked anyways. It's not like 2034 is going to be translated to English any time soon. Oh and the DLC is taking forever to come to the PC.

Um, actually the book is long translated in all languages. Mine isn't in Russian, it's in Bulgarian.
If it was translated in English I would have found it by now. :downs:
It a few months since I've played the game and one thing still bugs me.
Why is the air unbretheable on the surface? I don´t recall it being explained ingame.

Radiation. If you breath in any radiated particles, you would die. Hence the masks. They have filters which help clean the air you breath.

Sorry, I just supposed that if it's translated in Bulgarian, it must have been translated in English as well.
Well, that doesn't explain the suffocation at all. That's why I am asking.
Well, that doesn't explain the suffocation at all. That's why I am asking.
lol yes it does
Well, that doesn't explain the suffocation at all. That's why I am asking.
The surface is highly irradiated. I'm sorry, but in the second you breath that in, it starts destroying your lung cells, which makes you breath heavily and with effort, eventually killing you even before the radiation does.
lol yes it does
Oh I get it "ze radion" is codeword used instead of weaponized chlorine. Now it ALL makes sense.

Ok, artistic license then. No wonder it doesn´t make much sense.
Edit: Assertion that breathing air full of irradiated dust will do serious damage to (and not only to) your lungs is correct. Assertion that it will happen within minutes of exposure is pure fiction. I thought there was some canon explanation - chemical weapons, plant life all but destroyed etc.
Or maybe the amount of oxygen or nitrogen in the air is heavily unbalanced, thus making it nigh unbreathable to humans?

Regular filters which you use in the game wouldn't fix that, so I doubt it.

No, that's just because if it took you any more than... Let's say 15 minutes to be endangered by the surface air, it would make the gas mask useless in the game, because you rarely stay out for more than that. It's for gameplay purposes.
Also, when you inhale radiated particles, they still destroy your lungs, so it'd make the mask a must, even if you don't die immediately.

I haven't even seen the DLC's on xbox yet either.

Agreed. Implemented for gameplay purposes/generating tension. On a second thought, its quite merciful. In-game sequence picturing Artyom's slow and painful demise from acute radition posisoning wouldn't be funny.

We have reached a consensus.
Just finished it. It was decent. Not what I expected, and unlike Stalker, it's not a game I really want to play through multiple times.
The Metro 2033 book ads were kind of immersion killing.
We recently partnered with MSI to bring you a demo of Metro 2033 on PC. You can grab it now from Fileplanet. In the meantime, we're still addressing some issues with the 360 DLC, and the PC DLC is on hold until we're 100% sure we've cracked the problem. Thanks for your patience.
Fuck, I clicked it anyway
Might add this to my Gamefly, worth a shot?
Might add this to my Gamefly, worth a shot?
I haven't even beaten the game yet but it's definitely worth the rent
Metro 2033 has been translated into English. I own a copy; it's not even a bad translation. They even transliterated the names instead of calling, say, Exhibition by it's English name, my copy calls it VDNKh.
lol just realized this came out on my birthday
transliterated
Whoa I'm glad I googled that before rating bad spelling, because it is a real word and not a typo of translate. Rated useful instead, for improving my vocabulary!
