How the fuck were we supposed to know the dark ones are trying to help? They were killing our friends, fucking with my mind and being scary. And I got the bad ending because I always ran to Hunter in those visions.
Who would you run to? The big scary death creature or your long lost friend? I love this game but they did not make that part very clear.
The Dark Ones weren't killing the humans, they were trying to communicate with them through brain waves or something likethat, but the humans were to weak and everytime a Dark One tried to talk with one, it died or the lucky ones went into trauma.
Except for Artyom, he CAN communicate with them, he can resist their power, and that's why they keep following you and trying to talk with you through all those dream-like visions.
Also read the book, you'll understand alot more, especially the ending.
Actually in the books [sp]both exhibition (Artyom's home station) and the botanical gardens (the home of the dark ones) gets nuked[/sp]
Wait, why does [sp]exhibition get nuked, then?[/sp]

Way to spoil it for people.
[sp]Because Artyom at the last second tries to stop it but fucked up[/sp]
Spoilertagged, although at this point it's completely unnecessary, the game was released inMarch. If someone comes to a thread so much after release and expects everything to be spoilertagged it's their fault

This is discussing the book not the game
Well the ending is almost the same, and this is a thread based on the game and it's book so you can reasonably expect discussion about the book too
project is dead and the book is already officially translated
Where?

Welcome, Hunter, to Exhibition!
This game bored me to death so I stopped playing on a level I think was called Outpost. How much of the game was left?
This game is fucking awesome and a tad scary. But I hate the 'war' chapter so much.

That's my favorite chapter
So i was gifted this game out of the blue and thought i'd give it a shot but before i download it i wanted to know if these specs would be able to run it.

Heard it was very graphic intensive.
It runs on my piece of shit computer.
barely.

I don't meet the requirements and I can actually run it. Which surprises me since I can't run half the games I do meet the requirements for. The game looks great even on lowest settings(which i have to use). I don't know if it's lag or just the sensitivity of my mouse, but I find it somewhat hard to aim accurately, I'm always "sliding" my sights just past my target.
Finished this a couple of weeks ago. Incredibly immersive, and I loved the aesthetic, but an awful lot of things annoyed with the gameplay and writing.
- Don't make bullets the currency, then make traders so infrequent as to make them pointless.
- Don't add characters who clearly have incredibly deep back stories that are barely touched on.
- Don't add a morality system that is utterly arbitrary in what is 'good' and what is 'bad'.
- Don't develop that nasty habit that many games have of late, where in the interests of realism, you can barely hear what anyone is ever saying. Ever. Sure, I play with the subtitles on anyway, but without them finding out what's going on is damn near impossible.
- Oh, and finally, don't drop the character into situations where their is no clear goal. And whenever one appears, there is no motivation for me to feel the need to do so. Hunter is introduced within the first 15 minutes, disappears 5 minutes after that, then...umm...that's it*. I don't give a toss about passing on his message to some Rangers on the other side of the city, because I was never given any reason to care. You need to make an audience feel for characters, you can't just tell them that they're supposed to have these emotions, you have to earn them. And the game does this WITH EVERY CHARACTER. Every character seems to have this deep connection with Artoym (or vice versa), that I'm supposed to care about, but in all honesty, you don't spend enough time with them TO CARE.
* Yes, apparently this is to set up the sequel, Metro 2034. But if you're setting up a sequel, do it at the end, don't make it the ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME.
The game is utter SHIT compared to the book.
/truth.
I have played the game and read the book, it's clear that the game could've been much better.

I love both equally. If I could have anything in the game from the book, it would be the intense and creepy [sp]cannibal cult chapter[/sp].
Kind of annoys me as to how much the game differs from the book, like [sp] Bourbon's death, yeah, it was kind of shit in the book, but at least it meant something.[/sp]
I really enjoyed this game, however the escort mission with the green bubbles during Chapter 6 is one of the most retarded things I have ever had the displeasure of playing in my entire life. It doesn't even make any sense, why is he just casually walking through this death trap it's not like he couldn't outrun them.
This game is fun, but as soon as I get to the part with the librarians I either quit the game or try to cheese it as best I can. I really hate suspenseful things like that, they just get me so worked up. :smith:
The game after and before it is amazing though, nothing beats playing Solid Snake and murdering a station full of foes without a single peep from any of them.

Librarians are a bitch, basically a overpowered version of the stalkers.
Librarians are easily the most frightening thing ive ever fought in a game..

wow okay
this game was great for me, I would never have played a -scary-ish- game otherwise

When you look at them and they stare back...
That's the stuff of nightmares.
they were adorable tbh

Sorry for not enjoying a game that you do. I just wanted to know how much of the game was left.
I read the first book, it was awesome with great atmosphere. I have yet to play the game and I wonder if it will be any similiar...
Just got this game for free when I preordered Homefront. I am loving this game's atmosphere and the storyline.
