Got Axis and Allies for Christmas.. joy followed
Actually I always wanted to try Axis&Allies, although nobody seems to be interested. Neither in the Settlers of Catan. They both seem like great games to me.
I got the Civilization Board Game for Christmas. It's really remarkable in that it manages to capture everything that's great about Civilization and put it into a board game. Definitely worth looking into, but it's quite complex and there's a TON of pieces if that sort of thing bothers you.
Everyone around me hates complicated games.. Fuck that..
Try Heroscape! Great game, has lots of gameplay time if you wish.
This went downhill fast. How is Snakes and Ladders a good game?, except to teach basic counting skills. Some fun quick games Bohnanza Gosu (quick with two - eternity with 3 or 4) Dominion Queen's Necklace For Sale! Fluxx or any varient (Only fun with the right crowd. People who take their games too serious will hate it because of it's randomness. Good for youth groups or younger kids) Ticket to Ride Around the World in 80 Days (this is brilliant for people who are not familiar with "Euros" - better than Catan or Ticket IMO, mainly because it still has some throwbacks to the Milton Bradley stuff - ie, moving a piece around a board - no gamers can grasp that concept). Some fun moderate games Alahmbra Settlers of Catan Mystery of the Abbey Memoir 44 Formula D Advanced Rules War on Terror Talisman 7 Wonders Some fun complex games Peurto Rico Caylus (really deep. Don't even bother unless most of the people at the table already know it. I won my first game without ever playing before, but everyone else knew the rules) Mystery Express Marvel Super Heroes (this got really bad reviews. It's basically a card game with an unnecesary stupid board. The card game portion is interesting, but the mechanics are a bit clunky. I like the game. Can't find anyone to play it with though) Race for the Galaxy (the perfect game IMO).
Risk is the fucking shit. Spent so much time playing that with friends....Shit would get INTENSE!
Game would end the same every time. Everyone eliminated and 2 players constantly reinforcing until one just wipes out the other. Boring for the other 4 players. You should try war on terror (http://www.terrorbullgames.co.uk/) It's like Risk in many ways, except noone ever leaves the game, they just become terrorists when their empire is eliminated.
I always liked chess but nobody ever wants to play with me, and I suck at it. Battleship is fun because it winning is completely dependent on luck or knowing your enemy, and I am very good at cheating at it
best game ever !
I play Munchkin and Ticket to Ride once in a while with friends. Pretty fun. I've got one called "Bang!" as well but I haven't had a chance to try it out. Monopoly Deal (card version of monopoly, basically) is also a simple game that I can carry around.

The more players the better imo. If you get the chance (and if you like Bang! after you play it) get the expansion Dodge City. I don't usually like board game expansions, they generally only make the game more complicated but not more enjoyable, but Dodge City is basically just more cards. Yesterday I bought one of the Walking Dead board games (there are more than one believe it or not). I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet but its published by Z-Man so it has to be atleast decent. Some of my all time favorite board games are in no order: Quarriors (its like Dominion but with dice) Arabian Nights (not much strategy involved but it is really fun. theres no other board game quite like it. its sort of like if you turned a choose your own adventure book into a board game) Race for the Galaxy (mentioned and it has a free online version I recommend checking it out) Battlestar Galactica (HES A CYLON) Kingsburg Carcasonne (already mentioned) Betrayal at House on the Hill (a really fun game but the rules that it was printed with were fucked up so you had to download erratad rules offline. they recently reprinted the game with correct rules though) Bang! (already mentioned, is a really fun game) Oasis (best game i only ever played once) Citadels I'm sure I've forgotten some. One of my friends has over 100 board games and we play every Wednesday night. I could talk about Board games for hours. I'm glad this thread was bumped. I love talking about this shit.
I play Chess. MSPA style. http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/6416/chess0096bd4.png http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8482/chess0098board2.png http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/8070/chess0098board3.png http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/6323/chess0096bd1.png And yes, all those are a single game. Also edited, forgot two boards. And can't forget the stats either.
Can I ask questions? First off, is that real? Do you have the rules/a program/a site to play it at? And would you mind if I played it with you sometime, looks confusing as hell, and a bit chaotic, love it already.
