Deus Ex: Human Revolution V3 - I Never Asked For This

I suppose you are. Show me an example of a modern singleplayer FPS that has a campaign over 30 hours long. It just doesn't happen anymore, and while this game is probably an exception 80 hours is ludicrous.
Maybe if you take forever to do anything and do all the side quests on max difficulty it'll hit 80 hours for one playthough, but I'll be disappointed if I don't get 80 hours out of the game over two.

Fallout: New Vegas.
And let me make it clear: I said the game can last up to 60 hours - not 80.

I think the newer Fallout games are categorized as RPG, and 60 hours is also really stretching it. Sounds more like a 16-player e-mail Civ 4 game played on the largest world size.

Of course it's possible to hit 80 hours in pretty much any game, but that doesn't mean a normal gamer with the least bit of experience in the structure of FPS will spend that much.

Steam reports that I have spent 65.4 hours on Fallout: New Vegas, excluding DLC.
Deus Ex is considered to be a hybrid of the FPS and RPG genres - the original was like this and so is Human Revolution.
Also, I don't understand your comment about the e-mail and Civilisation 4, please could you clarify?
I think what you're seeing is that we're saying "Oh, it will take you exactly 60/80 hours to beat this game," but what we're really saying is "It can take you up to 60/80 hours to beat this game."

I expected people's opinions to lower once the real thing is out, but apparently they only get higher.
Yeah, pretty sure the leak Super Hyped everyone into Pre-Order mode as well, Deus Ex probably gained a great deal because of it, so much so I kind of think they did it on purpose
I suggested that they did it on purpose in the chat, and was laughed out.
They sued the guys who leaked it.
Sqaureenix did not Edios iirc.
Squeeenix.
Holy shit, guys. So I know this one guy, who makes a shitton of reviews on games (he's russian) and always completes them before making a review. He's a speedrunner, so he probably rushed through everything and says it took him 60 hours to complete the game.

I find it really hard to believe that a guy who rushes would take 60 hours. 60 hours seems like it'd be a long time for even the standard game.
I expect the game to deliver at least 20 hours of content. 35 or so doing all sidequests and a fair amount of exploring.
So i thought lets make the experience real good when playing Deus Ex HR
So i bought this AMAZING 5.1 surround set, it says it will be at my home in 1-2 days, today is the 3rd day so i checked the package tracer and it seems that i mistyped my postcode, so it currently is in Berlin, Germany. At a clothing store... And i live in Holland
My face when i saw it was in Germany

Yeah, sure, because everyone knows Communist video game reviewers are common.
I am still thinknig the campaign will be about 40 hours tops. And I hope it isnt like some games where the second half is gonig backwards through levels you just completed to retrieve something or whatever.
60 hours speed running it? Sounds legit.
Did I say he was speed running it? Read it again. I said that he probably rushed through the game without completing every sidequest.
[editline]21st August 2011[/editline]
I'll show you my time when I'll complete it for the first time.

Fuck I'm getting out of this thread because I nearly spoiled myself 5 times.

The first DE is more like RPG with FPS elements and HR is more like FPS with RPG elements, but maybe that's just me.
Also, I don't understand your comment about the e-mail and Civilisation 4, please could you clarify?
You know play by (e)mail games? You know, you send your turn data attached to an email message to another person and he can use it in his game. It was kind of a joke really, since 16 player games in Civ 4 can take forever on the largest mapsize and play by email would increase the time spent on one match to, I don't know, half a year?

I agree that it could take up to 60/80 hours for a single playthrough, but I'm mainly asking people to chill, as when your expectations are massively overinflated you're just going to disappointed when the game turns out to be 30 hours or whatever. I personally don't find it realistic to expect a modern FPS title to last 60 hours even when you're spending time reading every sex letter and crawling every vent ten times over. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but too much hype can make great game seem like shit in comparison to your imagination.
Mass Effect 2 only took me 20 hours to do on a first run through, but i've spent over 100 hours playing it...
This isn't about multiple playthroughs though, I've spent over 500 hours in STALKER SoC

Oh man, pre ordered last week. My body is [del]ready[/del] augmented.
I actually only played and completed Deus Ex a fortnight ago; it was completing it (and playing the leak) that sold it.
Also, from reading this, I feel kinda special for [sp]saving Paul, doing the Hell's Kitchen MJ12 sidequest and finding the bomb on my first playthrough[/sp]. I did only play on normal though and I explore everything because I'm casual as hell.
I also [sp]killed Anna Navarre and Gunther with their killphrases because I was too pussy to fight them[/sp].
Not to mention I [sp]took the easy ending (Helios)[/sp] (though I found it the most sound, bite me).
Also, surely I wasn't the only one who went gung ho as fuck as soon as I got the dragon tooth and killed fucking everyone?
I don't remember that scene,
Guess I never seen it all the way through,
