Okay, I seem to be completely unable to [sp]Save the hostages in the first mission. Every time I've tried to do it they're already dead, I haven't set off a single alarm but even when rushing to it (I skipped almost EVERYTHING and ran to there at the beginning of the mission, even going through the vents to the room.) and the doors are wide open with them all dead. Seriously? No one has even seen me and it took a whole three minutes to get there. Though Sarif said that they were already dead in the previous cutscene so what the fuck?[/sp]

Is it just me or does that look like GTA IV?

Geez, that's a bit big.
Copy finally arrived :D
Interesting that it comes with an Onlive unlock code. I wonder if this is going to be a trend for future PC games - having an alternate onlive code so you could play if you had a shit PC or could play your game on the go if you wanted. Though it obviously woudln't integrate with steam cloud or anything.
I'm guessing the onlive version is done seperately from Steamworks in that it doesn't use it at all.
Are the hostages [sp]supposed to die by the deadly gas? Or do I have to start the campaign all over again D:[/sp]
Wait... it's out?!
*checks EU release date*
Well, shit.
I think I'm literally stuck.
[sp] I'm at barret, only lethal weapon I have is my pimped out 10mm, rest are non lethal D:[/sp]
Throw explosive barrels at him, or use grenades

[sp]Did Sarif tell you that the hostages were dead because you were late from the chopper? If yes, then they will always be dead no matter how fast you get to the room. You're not supposed to chill around in the HQ when you are told to get to the helo as fast as you can.[/sp]

You can save them with a couple different ways. Don't spend too much time exploring before saving them, though.

Just keep playing.
Will this effect the game if I don't save them?
Will this effect the game if I don't save them?
Of course, but it's more interesting if you just suck up your mistakes and keep going. Save them when you play again.
Will this effect the game if I don't save them?
yeah you get yelled at and the relatives of the hostages will hate you forever
That's horrible. I'm not going to continue until I save them.
How do you holster your gun?
found something amusing
if you lean against the wall next to talking NPCs in the lobby (beginning of game) and lean forward to look at them, they get huge

Going back to rectify your mistakes isn't the right way to play, in my opinion.
As Zezi has said, suck it up and keep playing.

Yeah that picture of Deus Ex sure looks like GTA
This is my advance message to anyone who plans on spoiling in the thread without tags...
ƒuck you.
Ordered it for the PS3. The "Limited" edition. AKA, normal version with the extra mission and stuff that goes boom.
With all these apparent newcomers to the Deus Ex series, it makes sense to post this GameSpot Primer video to the entire series: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/deus-ex-human-revolution/video/6330366/deus-ex-human-revolution-bluffers-guide?hd=1&tag=videos%3Bhd%3B4
Holy fuck must get away from /v/ why am i there while waiting for this game to unlock in the UK

But it IS a port. You obviously have no idea what 'port' means. The game was made on consoles then ported to PC, it doesn't matter how good the port is (in the case of DXHR it's very good), it's still a port. Does that matter? Aside from moddability, not really.
[editline]23rd August 2011[/editline]
So does tessellation provide a noticeable difference to the quality of the character models or is it just there to appease the PC crowd?
argh. I always hate being one level lower in the hacking to hack a door or computer or something. Really irritating. I need to max that out fast.
