The console version is more expensive than the PC version.
It's like that for every game.
and they say that PC gaming is expensive.
you never build a gaming rig on your own?
If you find the right deals and buy at the right time, you can get a good computer for about 200$.
you never build a gaming rig on your own?
I do every time. That exactly why it isn't as expensive as consoles.
A PC that will max out most modern games cost $700-800. Not that bad considering most people who own consoles also own a PC. So just add those two prices and it's about even.
I mentioned before about a word doc I have (86 A4 pages long of font size 12 Times New Roman) by a guy who detailed how he completed Deus Ex in its entirety without using any inventory items/weapons/augs.
I said if people were interested I'd upload it, and Since you guys were overly enthusiastic (no-one responded) I thought I'd put it on pastebin for you guys.
Hope you find it as interesting as I did!

I agree with Bob that Origin isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.
not trying to sound smug, but don't expect it to run the type of games I enjoy, my old graphics card did cost 250€ when it was new 2 years ago, now everyone would consider it rubbish and you can get it for 65€ street price.

now I see prices that will get someone close to a decent rig...
I dunno, I got my computer a few years back for that price and it still runs all of the games I enjoy maxed out.

For 200$ and it runs everything today maxed out?
what computer is that?

Well I upgraded it with a new processor and video card, so the final cost may have been 325$-ish, but it's still much cheaper than 700$ to 800$.

Well, an Xbox 360 was $400 back in 2005. Seeing as an Xbox Live gold subscription is around $50 per year and you do have to buy some extra controllers and maybe a wireless adapter and a headset, that brings the price for six years of use up to around $400(console)+300(xbl)+60(controls)+50(wireless adapter / headset)= around $810 minus games or TV for a console for six years of use.
If you bought a PC in 2005 for around, say, $500-600, you probably would have had to upgrade somewhere around 2007-2009 because in 2005 the best graphics cards were somewhere around the 7800 series. With a motherboard replacement to cover the Pentium to Core2 / AMD socket / PCI upgrade and maybe a PSU upgrade to supplement that processor upgrade and a new HDD to fit all your needs (because a 80GB HDD from 2005 isn't really enough these days), you would be looking at another $60(PSU)+70(CPU)+80(mobo)+150(GPU)+20(heatsink). That's another $380, not including things like DVD drives or wireless adapters, monitors, keyboards or mice that may have been used over 6 years, getting you a midrange PC from about 2009 for a total of about $880 at the very, very cheapest without including any peripherals or extra costs like new OSs whatsoever. If you included the extra costs, it'd add several hundred to the total at the cheapest.
I'd say in terms of costs, consoles sort of edge out just a bit especially if you already have a TV but the costs generally even out when you consider the cost savings of going console are relatively nullified by buying cheap PCs to do work on. But whatever.

My current rig costs ~666$, it was built 1-2 years ago and it can max out any modern game (without DX10/11) except Witcher 2.
PC gaming is NOT expensive.
That's not counting how much money I saved thanks to Steam.
What is supposed to be so bad about origin?
It's actually good since it doesn't force you to have it running while playing games.
"We'll delete your games after a few years if you don't use them also let's charge more for preorders instead of less!"
Source?
All the pre-orders I've seen on origin are actually cheaper then the standard game price I have seen on most games. (1 game is not enough reason imo), and it's just 5 buck))
And the part about deleting old games seems pretty dumb for any company to have and more like something twisted up over the Internet, I believe the cause would probably be that really old unplayed games gets removed from their download servers to make more space or something. (Unless of course you have a solid source)
Guys, please don't start debating and/or arguing about Origin in this thread.
Instead, listen to this: http://www.endlessvideo.com/watch?v=UXkN-78bsZw
I'm a tad disappointed in the Main Menu theme. I wish they'd do something a bit more up-beat.

Not just a decent rig. With $800 you could easily afford an i5 2500k, a 560 Ti or a 6950, 4 gigs of RAM, a decent mobo, PSU, case, and hard drive.
Does anyone here have some artwork of Deus Ex: HR or Cyberpunk dystopia?
Would mean a lot to me.
i used to give it a chance, but the 5 dollars extra for a CHANCE to preorder the games crosses the line between greed and stability
Well I'm lucky I pre-ordered BF3 before they added the 5 dollar charge.
I have higher standards, I'm aiming at least for a MSI N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC to get rid of my current HD4870 also consider Europeans always get ripped off and I can't order from the US because most companies don't ship around the half globe and I need warranty to be ensured.

Well a 570 is only about ~$100 more than a 560, but a 560 will max pretty much everything out there right now. I'm not sure how the prices are in your country, but with $800 a rig with a 570 is possible here as long as you buy from the right places.

Whoops, WRONG THREAD
Can we please quit talking about Origin and PC specs? They are about as on topic as talking about GTA4 in a Quake thread, or the top part of my and Turnip's post.

Oh shit dammit wrong thread sorry.
Uh, yeah, I won't even state my opinion on Origins here because it'll cause everyone to talk about it.
So here's an image I found.
I'm a tad disappointed in the Main Menu theme. I wish they'd do something a bit more up-beat.
I quite love it the way it is.And for those who say PC gaming is more expensive, 2-3 console games = 1 PC part so... Nope.
