[sp]I don't see how Taggart can be a nice, reasonable guy, he wants to install a kill-switch on every augmented person to keep them in line, that's just as awful as any other ending, just look how well it worked out.[/sp]
[sp]So Sarif ending all the way, it's the least insane.[/sp]
[sp] He doesn't want to install a kill-switch on augmented people.
He wants to limit the research of augments so there will be no "super soldiers" or mind controlling chips...[/sp]
[sp]If you hack emails you see that Sarif actually ordered his healthy limbs to be lopped off - the only one that needed to be replaced was his left arm.[/sp]
[sp]I remember reading that email. I can't believe that was never brought up... didn't someone even mention this to Adam? Said something like "they did other evil things to your body" and it was never brought up again[/sp]Also, is playing Deus Ex 1 after beating this a good idea? I'm really interested in seeing how it matches up canonically. I've played through the first few levels but I've never beat the game
I think the only things which survived from that was his face and the coat.
Cause if you go to aug upgrade, you can upgrade practically everything.
The coat he uses after he gets all the augs and shit is different than in the intro level, since the first coat didn't have the holes for the Typhoon.
I don't know what to make of the endings but since in Deus Ex your able to kill [sp]
Gunther[/sp] with a killswitch does that not make [sp]Taggarts[/sp] ending canon?

Do it, it's an amazing game even if it doesn't quite align canonically.
Also, is playing Deus Ex 1 after beating this a good idea? I'm really interested in seeing how it matches up canonically. I've played through the first few levels but I've never beat the game
Play it. You won't regret.
I kinda felt sorry for [sp]Darrow[/sp]. His methods were absolutely wrong, borderline insanity, but he recognized that he'd created the whole problem and it probably tore him apart.
Still punched the bastard. [sp]Taggart[/sp] too. Right in the face.
Still ended up choosing [sp]Taggart's ending[/sp] though. In the end we all pay with our privacy, but not only does [sp]the truth about Hugh Darrow[/sp] come out to the public, but Sarif still gets to keep his job and do what he enjoys doing, even if there are tighter restrictions, and that's really not the worst thing that could happen to Sarif who I consider to be mostly honest with Adam when shit hits the fan.
I don't know what to make of the endings but since in Deus Ex your able to kill [sp]
Gunther[/sp] with a killswitch does that not make [sp]Taggarts[/sp] ending canon?
If you hack Jaime Reyes' computer in DX1 you'll find that [sp]he didn't know what the killswitch was. He emails someone (I think Manderley but I'm not sure) about it, explaining something like "failure of this device would result in catastrophic damage to the augmentation system, with the obvious effects that would entail" and they basically tell him that what he found is a state secret and he shouldn't talk about it again. This means either it was just a UNATCO exception to the rule - a contingency in case an agent goes rogue, or they're present in every augmented person but it's just an incredibly well-kept secret.[/sp]
This means you can't say for certain which ending is canon based on that evidence alone.
Personally I think that either [sp]Taggart's or the self-destruct[/sp] ending are equal contenders to be the "true" ending.
I think Adam was paralyzed by the bullet to the head, which is why he needed new limbs. Happens to people with spinal injuries. He was also supposedly crushed under some equipment which was why he, or rather his body survived the fire, although I can imagine him taking at least some tissue damage from it. All in all, not in great shape.
No Sarif was just being a cunt and wanted to slap a whole bunch of shit onto him.
I don't know what to make of the endings but since in Deus Ex your able to kill [sp]Gunther[/sp] with a killswitch does that not make [sp]Taggarts[/sp] ending canon?
That was nano-aug technology and was probably developed by MJ12 who go behind the UN's back. Also, he was the one who specifically did NOT want killswitches to be possible.
Exactly.
I think i recall him having a few lacerations on his limbs, including some glass shards which stabbed his arm.
I didn't even know they amputated his limbs, i thought he'd just lost them after what Namir did to him.
I can't recall where, but an eBook definitely said that [sp]Sarif requested his arms and legs be replaced with Augs[/sp]
I kinda felt sorry for [sp]Darrow[/sp]. His methods were absolutely wrong, borderline insanity, but he recognized that he'd created the whole problem and it probably tore him apart.
I shot him after the conversation and getting the codes. Fucking douchebag.
I don't know what to make of the endings but since in Deus Ex your able to kill [sp]
Gunther[/sp] with a killswitch does that not make [sp]Taggarts[/sp] ending canon?
Not necessarily. [sp] There were already using biochips either way, so it wouldn't be hard to implement a killswitch, and at the end of the credits, Page and Reed were talking about a nanite virus, so the events for Deus Ex are already paved, no matter what ending you choose. Plus the bans/regulations (if you choose that ending) could also just be for public use of augmentations, and not effect something like UNATCO or MJ12.
They made it so each ending is open-ended enough to make sure the events of Deus Ex could still happen, so any one of them can be considered canon (because after each ending, it doesn't say the results of after, it just has Jensen talk about the possible outcome, so there are many other factors that aren't discussed in the ending that can pave the way[/sp])
Did anyone else notice the subtle foreshadowing to DX1 in the form of a street prophet? I have screens that I can post tomorrow, it was stuff like, "A sickness is coming, grey and deadly" and "It shall come on the back of 12 kings".
Where to find tranq gun early game?
Also guys, remember that DX1 had nanoaugmentations, not mechanical ones. Because of this, any of the endings could still lead to DX.
Where to find tranq gun early game?
Buy one from the guy at the Detroit petrol station.

Nonlethal - longrange option from sarif
:downs:

Bear in mind that Sarif gives you only 10 darts for it and they're pretty hard to come by.
Bear in mind that Sarif gives you only 10 darts for it and they're pretty hard to come by.
They're not that hard to come by.
I often find them in lockers or cabinets, i've even found a Tranquilizer Rifle itself in a weapon cabinet at the [sp]Singapore facility[/sp].
The shopkeeps or whatever they're called also often have tranquilizer darts in stock.
Bear in mind that Sarif gives you only 10 darts for it and they're pretty hard to come by.
Not really, I had around 30 most of the time, actually, I had a shitload of ammo, hoarded like a mofo, 30 STOP! Viruses and 40 NUKE viruses.

You're not looking hard enough. I finished the game with 50 tranqs to spare.
I think difficulty has an impact on the ammunition amount

I did it on DX difficulty.
Everyone say which ending they chose! (On your first playthrough without knowing what the endings were)
[sp]Suicide. I think they should decide for themselves[/sp]
[sp]Sarif, because I liked my new limbs, gave a big middle finger to the Illuminati, and ensured technological progress forever[/sp]
[sp]Taggart's ending is the worst imo, living under the umbrella of an organization like the Illuminati[/sp]

Spaghetti *omnomnomnomnom*
There is plenty of ammo in the game. Those who complain about lack of ammo either don't explore enough or waste too much. Remember, inventory management is part of the gameplay. I always had more than enough ammo for every single weapon I kept with me.
I finished the game in 50 hours and it is as good as or maybe even better than the first Deus Ex. Loved it.
I did it on DX difficulty.
and it makes sense, does it not?
On easier difficulties, you don't need as much ammo as you might on harder ones
and it makes sense, does it not?

Why would they deprive of ammo, which makes things easier, on the easier difficulties? A lethal character on easy is still a lethal character who needs ammo.

Did it on Normal and had the same amount of ammo
