Deus Ex: Human Revolution V3 - I Never Asked For This

Apparently I play this game a bit different from other people, or so I've been told...

Also I got my fingers crossed for an optional window mode and less, or rather no more DX9 stuttering T_T
I've never played Deus Ex, but I had a Sold Out Software copy sitting in my dvd rack, and I'm thinking about playing it. Are there any mods I can install that would bring it more into line with modern games in terms of graphics, sound, etc?
Has this DLC announcement been posted yet?
The Deus Ex: Human Revolution conspiracy grows deeper in The Missing Link. During lead character Adam Jensen’s quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all.
"We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to complete Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," said David Anfossi, producer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Eidos-Montreal. "Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being stripped of his use of augmentations, new, visually stunning environments and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s conspiracy rich story.”
After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected. As Adam, gamers will befriend new, mysterious allies and fight ruthless enemies to discover what was happening in the shadows during the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution!
Source is the Deus Ex blog RSS feed(http://www.deusex.com/?func=rss), there isn't actually a post on the blog. In the post is also a link to http://www.deusex.com/themissinglink which currently just redirects to the home page. Also, this reveal might be accidental as the date in the RSS feed says the post date is September 8th.

So it takes place when Jensen [sp]Is in cryo sleep in the ship?[/sp]
Indeed and their hands are moving a lot like they are saying...
Hey, I'm taking over here, over here!
Only major criticism I have is the conversation system... maybe i've been spoiled by mass effect, but when you're just talking to a "non-critical" person, they do paralinguistics, bob their head, and generally just look like they're having a seizure completely seperate from what they're actually saying.
It's like the animation and the speech is completely disjointed.
They all have the same hand movements, which begins to bug me after I've seen it for the 100th time.
My copy just arrived today and I've been playing it most of the night. I'm right at the start of the 2nd mission at the factory, and so far I have spent all my praxis points on;
Level 3 Hacking Ability
Bot and camera hacking abilities
15% decrease on detection
4 Batteries
1 upgrade on battery recharge rate
Do my choices so far look ok? From now on I'll probably expand my inventory a bit, and then start purchasing some new abilities. Overall I want to specialize in hacking, leg upgrades, x-ray vision, and invisibility cloak. I'd like to complete missions similar to how you would in Crysis. Some stealth mixed with combat, and then some hacking to get around the tougher enemies
I dragged it out because I didn't want it to end, but I finally finished it. Will snip post if so much black causes eye cancer.
[sp]The end didn't have the same philosophical depth to it, some ending speeches have more thought put into them than others, and I would've wanted an ending that exposes EVERYTHING: How everyone is a dick, where technology was at fault and where it was because of political head figures, how Illuminati fit it etc, so that you could "purge" the complete political landscape, educate people and let them vote. Provided Eliza would stick with you so your evidence can get out.
I mean, it's wrong that augmentations are the source of all evil, so Darrow's message is a lie, Sarif and Taggart also want you to lie. Choosing those endings means to dictate something, choosing the fourth ending means leaving the world to the chaos that's already going on.
Of course from a game mechanical standpoint you need to make all endings equally appealing so there's no wrong and right decision and you must not be able to do something that makes DX1's events impossible, but still.[/sp]
Sorry to cover my post in black again, but was it just me or does this game suffer from a severe case of The Untwist? I refuse to believe I'm exceptionally genre-savvy here. Were these even supposed to be twists?! Just a couple of examples, but crucial ones:
[sp]1. You can recognize Bob Page right at the beginning because of his voice and partially because of his face. When I played the leak and recognized him I hadn't even touched the original Deus Ex for months.
2. You already learn that Adam is Patient X and adopted very early in the game. The ebook in the very first room (before you take a walk with Megan - the same one with the small car model) lists Patient X' data and the very first LIMB clinic has an ebook with Jenson's data and they both match perfectly. You don't get to know the entire backstory revealed through a sidequest later, but the adoption twist is already taken from you.
3. "I'll never stop looking" in the trailer and after an acid assault, she only receives a bitchslap. How could there be doubt she's still alive?
4. Not that crucial to the entire story, but a very big untwist nonetheless: The wet drive hacker/victim trying to steal the Typhoon. Maybe I just watched too much GitS, but I thought it was obvious in the trailer already and obvious in the game, too, when his hand was shaking like silly and he said "Help me! D8" and then took the shot. Yet everyone was completely surprised later.[/sp]
Now on for the second, but most definitely not last playthrough. So many paths to take. So few different animations for the characters.

It's fine, I suggest you don't instantly use up all the praxis points you get. I always made sure to have at least 2 around so I could stay mobile.
Hey, [sp]you know when Darrow unleashes that signal that drives anyone who's augmented batshit?[/sp]
[sp]Why didn't that happen to Sarif?[/sp]

I would do that too, if I could, and he obviously can.

[sp]Seeing as he knows about the Illuminati and the fact he's one sauve motherfucker, he probably never got the biochip installed cause he knew something was wrong since it all started happening as soon as his boy Adam was figuring out things.[/sp]
More important thing about the [sp]biochip. If it truly makes the people with it insane why don't they beat the shit out of each other? That was one of the very, very few things I didn't like that much. I was expecting chaos when I arrived at Panchea, what I got was more of a zombie shooter.[/sp]

[sp]In the camera footage shown when you meet Reed, they actually do attack each other.
Maybe the chip's specifically tailored so they don't attack each other? Seems like it'd be more effective that way.[/sp]

[sp]But Darrow was trying to eliminate augmentations from the world, what use would it be if all non-augmented people were dead?[/sp]

[sp]I do think I remember some of his body guards/Sarif security guards going into zombie mode. Would be just plain silly to save yourself, but not the people you hire and take with you specifically to protect you. People probably carrying firearms no less. And even if you didn't see the augs, there were people like Malik that had neuro enhancements.[/sp]
[sp]But Darrow was trying to eliminate augmentations from the world, what use would it be if all non-augmented people were dead?[/sp]
Ah, yes. I hadn't really considered that, I completed the game on release day so my memory isn't exactly what it should be.
[sp]Perhaps he was thinking that people would be more eager to kill the augmented people if they were harder to fight? If they just went crazy and killed each other, people might see them more as victims than enemies to exterminate.[/sp]
Just finished this.
Really great game.
Probably gameplay limitations, guys. NPCs probably aren't capable of attacking other NPCs unless scripted.

Have they fixed the stutter issue with it yet?

I've not had any stuttering, and I'm running what's considered a mediocre (at best) rig these days - a 5770 and 4 gigs of RAM. My CPU's ancient, too. I was running it on high with all but antialiasing on full.
Have they fixed the stutter issue with it yet?
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2075294
DX9 has the most issues from what I heard... Every time I load a new area it starts stuttering for a good few minutes at random, after which it's smooth. But going to another area, it starts stuttering once more...
Even TotalBiscuit had issues with his overpowered rig on 1280x720 :/

At least I don't have to sleep with everyone to get to know them past their first name.
