Deus Ex: Human Revolution V3 - I Never Asked For This
I have to be honest here and i know people will dumb me or whatever for saying this but after i played deus ex hr i felt the need to play deus ex 1. So i went to get it.
When i started playing i was "alright this is pretty cool, nicely made for the time".
But when i finished the tutorials and started the game it just felt weird. It didn't feel like a game that wants you to do shit in your own way. The aiming was so slow and the levels were so big.
Now i realize that the aiming was slow because the skill was low, but it just frustrated me after the very nicely done human revolution with the cover system and all.
I understand your point but i am sure i am not the only one that would like to see a remake because i have not played the original before getting spoiled.
So you want a remake because you can't handle the dated mechanics of the original?
You know, this is one more problem that would make DE:HR more enjoyable if fixed. If they gave us more info about the bosses we could understand them better. Seriously, when [sp]Namir said "Men like us etc."[/sp] it sounded cool and deep, the music helped, too. But it also felt kind of out of place, when you find [sp]Megan[/sp] in the next room.
This is why I'm hoping for DLC. The book gave plenty of background info on them and really fleshed out their personalities. I don't understand how they could waste such an interesting character like Namir.

Don't think you went into it far enough. Usually by the time you get to hong kong is when the game really kicks in.
So you want a remake because you can't handle the dated mechanics of the original?
Pretty much..
Maybe i should try again some other time. I usually don't care how old a game is, but the wait to aim thing annoyed the hell out of me.

wtf
One thing that I didn't like about this was that there were no real setpieces. It was just Hub, Research Lab, Military base, Hub, Offices, Research Lab (those things are so cliche it's not even funny), etc. They all just kind of felt like a succession of rooms with vents joining them, packed with computers. Now I'm not saying they weren't fun to play through, just that they all felt kind of same-y. [sp]The Panchaea thing was especially disappointing. It actually looked as though it would be a really cool setpiece, but it ended up just being "lol more corridors and rooms". It would have been fucking incredible if you could absail down it or something, like the cliffside sequence in Half-Life.[/sp]
Me: I never asked for this.
Cleverbot: I never said you did.
The CONSPIRACY goes deeper.
Oh fuck you Deus Ex, everything I try to use to beat Barrett fails miserably. I'm thoroughly convinced no amount of anything is going to kill this fucker.
How some people find him to be the easiest boss is so far beyond me that I can't even think of a good analogy.
I just finished this [sp]went with Sarif's ending, I just felt like everyone has the right to choose to be who they want to be[/sp]
[sp]Although we would have the basic "right to choose" to be augmented or not, wouldn't you say that this choice is moot? If augmentations ended up being heavily researched, developed & made more inexpensive and readily available to the general public, as Sarif's ending would have it, would it not slowly become a requirement to have augmentations to find a job? [/sp]Whether it be manual labor, pedagogy, accounting or any other field under the sun, I'm sure that 99% of the work that is out there (or WILL be out there) could be completed more efficiently with some sort of augmentation. So in that sense, wouldn't this choice ("I don't have to get augs if I don't want to!") be an illusion? Sure you don't have to get augs, but where will you find a job? You can hold four graduate degrees, licensing and certifications up the ass but if someone can flat-out do the job better than you can, are you going to get the job? Furthermore, as augmentations become more prevalent, wouldn't social stratification be a significant influence on this decision to become augmented? When augmentations become "the norm", how will people who reject augs fare in society? Again, you may feel that augmentations are unethical or against humanity or what have you, but if you're unable to walk two blocks without getting harassed...
For the record, I'm NOT against transhumanism (I'm actually curious to see where it will take us) but I find this to be an interesting point against rampant augmentation development.
Just finished it... really enjoyed it but thoroughly disappointed with the end.
[sp]I felt through the whole game that my actions would have some sort of consequence... but it was literally a "pick what ending you want" scenario which felt cheap. I picked Darrow's truth, but after the cutscene the credits started to roll and I was very underwhelmed. I expected to at least have some sort of confrontation with Sarif or something.
Good game, but the ending really let it down... guess I'll check youtube for the other endings[/sp]
guys I made a story

I bet you were one of those pro-purists that invaded Sarif Industries!

Sometimes he's like this:

I think the key is stunning him.
I shot him a couple times with a rocket launcher though.
MAJESTIC WALL OF BLACK INCOMING
[sp]Even though it's unlikely that this happened, I still think Megan could've done that. I mean holy shit, Adam barely survived the Sarif attack and his main mission was to find Megan, dead or alive. He stayed so true to her and when he finally got to her after so much trouble he finds out she's very comfy in there and Megan herself doesn't even give two fucks about love. Instead of a hug all Adam gets is Megan asking to deal with Darrow and even after that she still ends up working with Page.[/sp]
[sp]Megan is a bitch married to SCIENCE. In the beginning it's made clear they need better equipment (and that they can get it from Page industries), and once they get that equipment and she can do SCIENCE better than at Sarif's, she suddenly seems to feel unbelievably comfortable taking into consideration how many people were killed and how everyone abducted was ripped out of their old lives. And of course she only got closer to Adam for a constant supply tissue samples, once her research was complete enough for a press conference she dumped the poor guy.
Her only redeeming quality is that she protected him right before he received a bullet to the head.[/sp]
[sp]And I agree, the tension curve is fucked up. Everything led to the reuniting of Adam and Megan, which was completely disappointing, and then it was like they had forgotten about the actual finale and so they threw in Panchea. There was foreshadowing about the project and there was a Hyron suit in Zhao's chambers, but no buildup. The tension curve already fell when you finally reached Megan who for Adam had always been in the center of interest.[/sp]
My personal pet peeve however is [sp]Eliza Cassan. I believe the devs cut out a lot here as well. She makes a lot of irrational and human decisions by helping Adam, and if I deduced that bit from the Making Of correctly, it's because of emotions, too. The transhumanism-centered setting is already asking whether our definition of being human or not is changed if we replace our physical body. Well, Cassan is pretty damn human (she has a job she just does and she has a selfish "more human" side) and her body appears to be 100% machine. So what is it what makes us human, can machines have a soul, blablabla, so many possibilities and none of them even touched. We just get "you're a computer :O".
I think what really gets to me however is how unfair it is. To put it as cheesy as possible, she had more heart than any of the men in suits. Darrow wants to blame the knife for being a murderer just because he's pissed he can't benefit from his own technology. Taggert and Sarif want to tip the scales in the aug debate for personal profit and a secured position of power. Cassan had NOTHING to gain from her actions and couldn't even defend herself in case someone decided to delete the rebellious AI/reset her. She only took risks to help Adam and she gets no reward, nothing. She's still stuck in that server without any human rights, safety or freedom at all.
We don't know if she actually wants to get out of there of course, all we see is either her doing her job or being a polite fangirl for Adam. But she seems even more human (and thus more complex and sophisticated) than Helios and he already had a strong drive to get out of there. And to make things worse, considering how nanoaugs are within reach, the Hyron human/machine interface already works if Darrow doesn't trick you with a fake chip, and DXHR seems to be on an all in all technologically more advanced level than DX1, I think it would not even have been impossible to give her some sort of body. But she probably doesn't even think she has a choice given her circumstances and the fact the world is already tearing itself apart over mere human/robot /hybrids./ And now giving robots human rights? Considering all the anti-aug extremists?
I mean I don't expect a Helios-like ending where Adam and Eve errr Eliza merge, because that would just be fanfiction-tastic, but the fact that they never discussed her existence in detail is mind-blowingly disappointing.[/sp]
I have in fact so many gripes with the ending that I've decided to do something creative with that energy and use it to make a small custom ending comic strip. Never happened with any other game I played, but whether that's a good or a bad thing is another matter entirely.

I never had a choice to what happend to me
[sp]I assumed that Eliza Cassan was a similar project to the Hyron.[/sp]
[sp]I assumed that Eliza Cassan was a similar project to the Hyron.[/sp]
[sp]She's similar in the fact that she's made to control the population. Though she's more of a precusor to the AI systems in DX1 than just a form of control they've worked on.[/sp]
Regarding Namir:
[sp]He actually talks about losing his sister WHILE you fight him. Strange how they'd try to develop his character when nobody is paying attention. However, listen to what he's talking about during the fight and he explains what he means when he delivers the "Men like us" line.[/sp]

[sp]makes sense, since probably the whole point is to lower your guard[/sp]
Whats with the Deus Ex series and poor voice acting?
For example.
Daedalus being pronounced as Dad-uh-lus when it should be DAY-duh-lus
Jaron being pronounced as Jar-Un when it should be Yai-ron
*Every line in DX1 that isn't JC or Paul's*
Sarif being pronounced Share-if/Sherrif when it should be Sar (As in SARS)-if
"Hey Ameeeeericaaaan" *Deep voice rapist mode engaged* "Go YaNkEeS!" "funtimeChingTheHivechongchingHengHuachongintown"
This might be against the rules, but where can I find the entire soundtrack? Not just the 13 songs that came with the Augmented Edition. There are a lot of good ambient songs missing.
