Well playing Deus Ex Human Revolution like that would be impossible.
There is no cattle prod.
Taser.
Question:
You are given a chance to get ONE of the augmentations adam can get for free. Which one will it be?
I'd personally like Social Enhancer to get rid of my god awful argumentation skills.
I too would like the CASIE module
Cloak, as long as the battery regenerates.
Sure, and I could play Deus Ex by always charging in guns blazing, but that wouldn't be generally considered as "Playing it like Deus Ex".
The most widely accepted definition of that would be to use stealth most of the time, using non-lethal takedowns with the cattle prod where necessary, with good hacking, lockpicking and electronic skills (and swimming).
Oh, and here I thought the proper way was to get the Dragon Tooth and just run up to enemies swinging away. That's how I played it anyway.

I wouldn't as I don't want to take Neuropozyne.
To the people who keep saying there is a "proper way to play Deus Ex"
Just shut the fuck up already.
Elowin, you don't need 100% realistic justification behind everything for the game to be immersive/in-depth.
When you make a game you can't justify EVERYTHING properly, there are certain functions in games that are there for balance reasons or just to make things fun. Your nit picking is ridiculous, you're not giving your opinion on the game you're just whining about it immensely.

You sir, won the game.
Take a medal

You just gave me the best idea ever
I need to replay this game with a crossbow again. I would never use it in real life as a proper weapon but in games it's always so much fun.

Sure thing dad I mean Sarif

I discovered my first arrows about half-way through the game, and thought "What the hell is this?". When do you get your first crossbow?

I think I found them relatively early in game, and always kept them in the inventory just in case I find the crossbow. Kept doing missions but had no luck with finding it, so finally I just dumped it since I needed more space in the inventory and what do you know? Next mission was Port one... you know the rest.
"Crossbow!"
"...1 arrow?"
:(

The first part is true.
I actually did give my opininion on the game, but people ignored that and instead began whining about how they disagreed with the few things i thought were pretty stupid, and then whined at me more to justify them.
Also, just how cool would the P.E.P.S. be if it had like ten shot's in one magazine/battery/whatchamacallit and was semi-automatic?
You just gave me the best idea ever
Record it please, i would be a sad panda if i missed that.

you were whining about how certain things were unrealistic
in a game set 16 years in the future

I was making valid arguments to counter yours, but apparently that's whining now

I never said that :|
There is a generally accepted way that most people play it ie. not charging in shooting everything as if it's call of doody
Im not getting into another retarded argument over abselutely nothing with you again, so just stop it okay?
And really, i don't need everything to be realistic, my only real problems with this game are what i said in my original post here, i thought the ending/'s was/were terrible, the melee really bad, mainly because doing a character that focused on melee at all was pretty much impossible.
And then i just don't like the lack of choice in how you play, as i think that was what made the original so damn great, and they pretty much removed it, atleast to the degree that the choice is pretty much just lethal/non-lethal and stealth/not so much stealth.
The idea behind the melee is that anything other than a basic function uses up excess energy. Augs have a base amount of energy they use to function properly, keeping balanced and mobile etc but when it comes to using excessive force more energy is required. In fairness, its a fair justification and neat that they actually thought of a tiny detail like that.
I know you think the system is shitty but fact is, it works with all the other mechanics that are in place in the game and you can't not give them credit for doing a good job at balancing all that out.
There's hardly ever a game that can balance the aspects of combat and stealth so seamlessly. I can understand if some people wanted a more interactive melee system but too much time would've been needed and it probably wouldn't have been balanced right.
The melee is balanced because without the energy cost it would just be way to easy to breeze through the whole thing using takedowns on everyone.
And I saw plenty of opportunities for choice, you had to look around to find the way that suited you. There were loads of situations where I noticed a huge variety of ways I could handle the situation, but chose one that suited me best.

You can keep the one from Cloak and Daggers side-quest in Detroit but be sure to find as much evidence as you can so it doesn't fail. Or you can buy it in Hengsha from the Hua Hotel merchant. If I remember correctly.

Stop using "it would be to easy" argument. If I wanted easy, I wouldn't play on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty. I'm kinda for the idea of no-energy takedowns, but that doesn't mean I would use it 24/7. If anything, it just makes you waste less time, at least for me, because I barely used energy items, I just waited for cell to recharge.

The devs want the game to be a challenge, if you want to download a trainer to give yourself unlimited battery that's your choice, but like I said before, with your argument you might as well just add a "Push to win" button. After all, you might not use it but other people will want to!
I think Killzone 3 is proof instakill melee attacks need to be limited.
If the melee attacks didn't use energy I think I should reserve the right to call the game Killzone: Liberation 2
Do you have any idea how easy this game would be if melee didn't use energy? *looks at Killzone 3's brutal melees and the Dragon's Tooth sword from Deus Ex.*
-snip-
I think they could have preserved the difficulty of the game and given us full-battery recharge by making it cost many, many Praxis points. You could even limit it to the lowest difficulty level.
Alternatively, why not have a store that sells protein bars/products? It seems silly that I can purchase high-powered weaponry off the black market and complex software upgrades from clinics, but I have to scavenge candy bars from garbage cans and dead guards.
I personally found it quite frustrating that I couldn't use the take-downs more often. They are quite exhilarating to watch. I really don't get that "I'm so macho" feeling for playing a harder game but that's just a consequence of my personality type. No reason the game can't tailor to everyone.

Not really. Push to win just wins the game. My point is that with no-energy, you still need to complete the game and play the way you want it, which is kinda deus ex style.
But sure yeah, I completed it without trainers or anything, and it was fine. I'm just sayin' don't need to bash everyone who wants no-energy takedowns, it's completely understandable.
[editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
It also baffles me how you can only use 1 cell and only 1 type of attack. Like, for example, you can't use half a cell to just choke someone from behind, on a chair, or something of this sort.

I would've liked a store that sold unlimited candy bars myself. Sure the LIMB clinics sold energy jars, but those were expensive as all get out and they usually only had two in stock anyways. Candy bars for about 200-500 a pop would've been great.
