From your point of view you would die.
Exactly. My consciousness would cease to exist. A version of me would live but its not the original. Most people wouldn't really care since the dupe would be so perfect.
From your point of view you would die.
From original you's perspective, you undergo whatever medical procedure is needed for this, (and die if that's part of it, but that's pretty shitty medicine) and then everything goes on as normal.
From copied you's point of view, you under go the procedure and then find yourself in whatever new body you're transferred to, you're still you.
The mind is just an operation performed by your brain, if it can be emulated and transferred to a synthetic equivalent, it's still you, no matter if it's a clone or a replacement.
Imagine a clone of you suddenly appeared. Your consciousness is still in your body, but now there's another one of you running around. Suddenly you die. Your consciousness ends. There's a clone, and he thinks he's you, but he's not you, as your consciousness is gone.
Replace the clone with a computer and you see the problem with this. However, one thing to note is that there's no reason to delete the original- one person could make thousands of AI replications of their mind or pieces of their mind. The idea of the 'partial' is integral to transhumanism.
The problem is, you can't live forever. Transferring your mind into a computer won't preserve your consciousness, only create a duplicate.
"Humanity" is overrated anyway.

How's that?
So what's the difference? If it's an exact copy it is you for all intents and purposes other than what it's made from.
Yes, it would be an exact copy. But that's the problem, it's not the original copy. The copy would continue living on with no problems and probably relatively happy, it would think it's the original you, but the original you died when there was a cut in the stream of conciousness during the transfer. In an objective sense this wouldn't matter, sure, but in your subjective sense you'd be dead.

Obligatory "My own clone! Now neither of use will be virgins!"

In that case it just depends on your state of mind, do you want a healthy copy of you walking around and being you, forever? I'd be jealous if I had to die but he gets to live. Fuck that.
"Humanity" is overrated anyway.
Nah.
I would be apprehensive to completely replace my body, I'm quite partial to things like my hair, food, having a dong, stuff like that.
having a dong.
You can get a better one.
Special offer! Only now, if you will install these following augmentations, you get a penis upgrade! Oh my! What a deal!
The first one, you mean?
Yes Yes of course. Silly me.
Yes Yes of course. Silly me.
Ah, "New PC" made me think you'd upgraded and ordered HR since you could run it now or something.
Liberty Island is a test, if you can get past it you can put up with all the other boring sections of the game :v: It's hard because you have almost no skills and no augs, so you're not much more powerful than the guys you're fighting, stick with it though, once you get into it it's fantastic.
Ah thanks for the advice.
It should be fun, otherwise this is a waste of a pound.

"Pritchard... put your pants back on, we've got work to do."
Remember, stick with the GEP gun, it's always the most silent way to eliminate resistance.
Anybody else notice the presenter in the video on the last page, the guy talking about the future of augmentation, was named Hugh?

HNNNG the music is mighty impressive. Also I'd kill for some of that FEMA concept art at the start of the second vid.
How's that?
Why do we think we're better than other species?
Because we're more developed intellectually.
If someone augmented themselves to the point where they were completely beyond human capabilities, then it makes sense that they would be considered superior to humanity.
I'd be inclined to agree.

Yesss, they got an interview with Michael McCann in the audio/music video.

They did a written one before but he was reserved and they were simple answers, back when they kept churning out the same info/answers.
And Elias Toufexis, voice actor for Adam Jensen!
I wonder if you can have a conversation with the DJ in the Hive bar.

Detroit City Police Ambient is my favourite perhaps. I actually managed to get all of the music from the beta, weighs from 250-300 MB, should I upload it for you bros?
