Well Jericho told me to post in here because

so uh yeah, Deus Ex newbie here, technically gonna start with HR but whatever, it's a prequel too so I think it would be logical to play that and then the other Deus Ex games? :v:
Holy shit I wanted to make a silent chat message. But looks like I clicked the GEP Gun button. Also, way to go me for updating JA, I still remember about it.
Is it possible to avoid sending Paul's broadcast in Deus Ex 1 and stay with UNATCO?
Just preordered the game. Does this make me cool now?

Mm... DXHR was made with DX fans in mind. There'll likely be a lot of callback, and references that you won't really understand unless you've played DX1. It'd be like watching the first 3 Star Wars first, and being all "What the fuck is the force?"
Except DXHR compared to DX is in no way comparable in quality to Star Wars I-III and IV-VI, but the idea behind it is what's important.

It was going to be, but they had to cut it due to time, size, and complexity constraints.

No it wasn't.
"In the end, we did not design this game for the consoles or the PC. We did not design it for hardcore gamers, nor for casuals. And no, it wasn’t designed specifically for DX fans.
We designed it for humans to enjoy. whatever their classification."

I didn't say specifically for. I said in mind.
[sp]But yeah, I read that earlier, and forgot if he'd said included DX fans in "who it wasn't designed for". You caught me.[/sp]
I think my point still stands though. You're going to understand the environment and background a lot better if you've played DX1.
If you can put up with the graphics and dated gunplay it's a damn good game.

It is logical, but you'll probably hammer your balls with your fist if you never played the first one and go from HR to it.
In my experience, its like grabing a jar as a human for your whole life, and then getting turned into a cat and trying to do the same with your paws.

Augmented humans?
Good news everyone. I can afford this game again and my friend is willing to pick the game up for me while I'm in Seattle
Well then it seems I'll play HR because it's a prequel, try to understand everything, then somehow I'll get Deus Ex, play that and then replay HR to understand everything! :v:
Getting the Augmented Edition on steam gets you a copy of the first game.

my best friend already gifted me the normal version, he didn't have the extra money for the Augmented Edition

Then play it now until HR comes out.

but I don't have the first deus ex, that's why I said I'll somehow get Deus Ex after I finish HR
but I don't have the first deus ex, that's why I said I'll somehow get Deus Ex after I finish HR
Oh, I misunderstood. Misread "original version" as "original DX", not "vanilla DXHR"
I just finished Deus Ex! Fuck yeah! Just in time for HR!
So someone remind me... is there anyone you have to kill in Deus Ex? I remember thinking you had to kill Anna at some point, but I'm not sure if there were any other must-kills.

I nearly said Gunther, but there are two ways to avoid him...
Oh by the way, Gunthers on page 50.
Remember that a headshot is a lethal takedown.

Walton Simons
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
Maggie Chow
You don't have to kill Maggie and I'm pretty sure Simons can be avoided on both occasions
You can glitch past Anna

Sweet. What ending did you choose?
Helios obviously.

I've been trying to avoid following the game until it got closer to release. I believe it's close enough to get excite now!
[sp]Tong kills Dumbledore.[/sp]
Gonna spend the night before release reading Icarus Effect.
I don't see the big appeal of games like Minecraft and Terraria and I fail to see the fun in spending hours mining at blocks in Minecraft.
But yeah, a lot of people seem to like these games.
Christ, it's just doing the same fucking thing for hours on end.
The people I know who like are the same people who love pokemon/mmos because they don't mind if they just did the same thing a thousand times.
To be honest I don't like Minecraft and think it's overrated.
On the other hand though, I like Terraria. I just load it up when I don't have anything to play with some podcast in the background or something. It's very relaxing for me and it's not needy.
