Goddamn, the thread is going into lockdown mode now
I haven't seen this many precautions since. . . ever.

When people don't want to see spoilers they get desperate.
Your turn.
I've spent my past few hours trying to play Deus Ex, and I have to say, it's not all that fun.
I just can't seem to get into the mood of the game, I find myself getting really bored after only about 30 minutes of playing. Shame on me.
Once you know what you're doing the game is a blast.

Get past Liberty Island and the first couple of New York missions.

I'll take your word for it. I'm gonna try again soon.

Also my no kill playthrough just got ruined when a tranqualized guard in the FEMA base fell over the railing :v:
Hi guys, I've lurked in this thread for a little while but this is my first time posting here. I'm currently playing Deus Ex for the first time and having a blast. Also looking forward to Human Revolution.
So I started playing Deus Ex again, I was up to the part after you arrive in New York and have to go to Hells Kitchen. As I approached the subway I got the message that they were threatening to blow up the platform, and I was told to be aware of this and watch for booby traps, so being the bright lad that I am, I decided the best course of action would be to throw a box through the booby trap lasers to set them off.
NOBODY MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT HOSTAGES

sorry if this is late but does anyone know if npcs will still gib when you do enough damage to them like in the original?

Gibbing has pretty much been a standard "Do not include" feature in games since 2004.
So no.
Ok, my anti-spoiler measures are in place, based on previous experiences with my friends failed attempts to spoil Portal 2(the shitheads!) I have blocked everyone on my friends list bar my bro , Jericho and Seano12. They can't stop the future.
Wow, you're an ass.
[editline]18th August 2011[/editline]
ok, nevermind, I'm talking to you right now and you didn't block me actually. :wtc:
I don't know why you're all shitting around for spoilers. I used to read the last page of any book I'd read just to know what happens at the end, and it'd make me want to know how it came to that and make me read it even faster. I don't care about spoilers.

TF2 has gibs too.
Yea, but TF2 is kinda comic-y and not really brutal in a serious way.

I wonder how I'll fair in Human Revolution :v:
Wait, I'm suddenly seeing a swarm of "XBOX VERSION IS TOTAL SHIT AVOID AT ALL COSTS" etc and I'm suddenly sweating bullets, anyone know if this is true as I was kind of planning on making this my last game of the year I could afford.
Controls feel terrible on the 360 by the way. I couldn't stand it after 30 minutes, messing with the menus and stuff is just slow and annoying. This game is 100% made to play on the PC no doubt about it. I already played the leak and I just found the menu and interface controls so much better on the PC. I'll be waiting for my preload and release.
I played on the PC with a 360 controller and the controls are fine.
I don't know about any technical issues, however. Hopefully that won't be the case.

Yeah, I'm wondering this too. It the disappointment
"This game is damn near unplayable. The controls suck."
Or is it
"I'm mostly a PC gamer and the controls feel clunky to me."
Because I'm calling the second one invalid.
If the game was made for the PC then I guess the Xbox version controls suck
makes a nice change really
Apparently region-locking is no longer a problem?
Please note: It was reported that Deus Ex on PC is region-locked to the UK only. Square Enix has confirmed that this is not the case. If you are ordering from outside of the UK, you will be able to play this on your PC.
I played it with 360 controlls, and don't worry Sift. The controls are just fine.
I hope that steam EU users will be able to play human revolution in 23nd august. I got the game gifted to me from USA anyway.
I got the standard edition for 0 euros, does the steam standard edition also have the mission packs ?
Sweet, Game lowered the price of the Augmented edition to £35. Hurrah!

Standard edition w/ Explosive Mission Pack for 27.99GBP.
Go go go!

Well, now I'm shuuuure I won't play the augmented edition.

Except they aren't, it feels like moving a crane. Navigating the menu and inventory is horrendous. This game is meant to be played on PC, there's no way I can play the entire game like this, it's frustrating and would take too long on consoles.
