I get 45-60 fps, depending on the amount of npcs.

it's unity engine
plus, games with "low" graphics tend to be easier to add gameplay features.
That's why I use unity. I don't really understand the link you make between graphics and features though. It's more between game logic and features. Low graphic is here so that you don't spend time doing an artist's job.
Still unity is not a very good choice for optimization... Anyway I'll stick to it, I don't have the time to work on a project from scratch anymore (see my other threads).
Version contains mostly optimizations (just on time generated brick).

This shit is cool. Only thing that would make this ten fold better are some satisfying sounds of the shouting of war, sword clangs, collapsing building, and the like.
Also might be cool if you have a special ingame editor were you could pause the game, place units en mass or prefabs of buildings for bigger destruction.
You know there is an editor right?

Guys I'm really concerned about the fps. How low to do you drop when something happens? I can't really carry on if it's too slow. It seems to be the display which is causing this (!!).
I'm really liking this game. I would gladly give $5-$10 dollars for a really fleshed out version of this.
My only suggestion to you for these test is this: Could you not pre-place units on the assaulting team, and give us a pause function? It would be great if I could start the game up, build an army, then initiate combat instead of shit flying seconds after I load the game.

Yeah I could do something like a pause, or more likely a ceasefire.
I plan to do something like stronghold:
You start with a banner and you have villager coming to it, you build your castle around it in order to secure your villagers. There will be some pathfinding, manual or automatic: You place nodes for villagers to navigate in your castle (or invisible ones mades by the engine, I'm not sure, at least the first option is already implemented). Enemies will also use theses nodes to attack your castle.
You will trade ressources with other imaginary castles that you will be able to siege from time to time (loading another map).
I think I will stick to a roaming view, still I'm not really satisfied with it. A fps view would require more fps...

They would make smalller holes. It's less impressive because it would deforms the wall less, maybe. Well it would be different. I need to try it out. But I know projectiles are way bigger than the catapults.

New version released. This version allows you to control sveral units at the same time, so it'll much easier to handle big armies.

Pressing "select mode" (R by default) toggle the mouse cursor and allow multiple units selection.
Flags are used by units for pathfinding. They only connect together if their altitude difference is less than about the size of a brick.

I have been working on it. I spent a lot of time fixing pathfinding, performance ... I hesitated to release something this weekend but I though it was not a good timing with the new year and all.
Next release will have two maps. An enanced version of the one you have already played and one were you have to defend/build. Assault ladder and shield were added. I guess the overall feeling of the game has been improved.
Amd catalyst being an ass with drivers (have to uninstall before you reinstall drivers), I'm downloading again the drivers, so here are some random shitty screens cause I can't do much without drivers. It was not my intention to post them but I have nothing else to do :
